Chapter 179 Making a Phone Call

Qiao Chen's eyes stung and welled up with tears.

“That’s none of your business,” he looked into Xiao Xin’s eyes, skillfully concealing his emotions. “You should first consider whether or not you want to accept my offer.”

"Why did you help me?" Xiao Xin asked.

He couldn't find any reason for Qiao Chen to help him.

"Because I've always known that Jiang Yuqing's target is you. If you don't leave, I'm afraid he'll use you to threaten the Fu family. If that happens, Fu Yan will mess things up, and I won't be able to explain it to Qingqing."

After Qiao Chen finished explaining, Xiao Xin understood that everything was for Yu Muqing.

Even though Fu Yan and Qiao Chen are about the same age, Xiao Xin sees something in Qiao Chen that Fu Yan doesn't.

A sense of responsibility, a calm and composed demeanor...

“You seem to be about the same age as Fu Yan, right?” Xiao Xin suddenly asked.

Qiao Chen was a little confused, but still answered him, "Fu Yan is two months older than me."

Xiao Xin sighed, "But why are you so much more mature than him?"

Qiao Chen chuckled, "Are you praising me now?"

Considering Xiao Xin's situation, Qiao Chen stopped laughing and explained, "Fu Yan and I are indeed different. He only knows how to take from the people and things he likes, and he is so willful that he never considers other people's feelings. But I can't be like Fu Yan. If I were like Fu Yan, I would only push Qingqing further and further away."

Xiao Xin looked at him silently.

Since things had already come to this point, Qiao Chen couldn't help but say a few more words: "We grew up together. He can get everyone's care and love without lifting a finger, and he can get whatever he wants easily. But I'm different. I've been living under other people's roof since I was a child. I can only work hard to get whatever I want."

He paused for a moment before saying, "So, I've always been quite jealous of him."

He climbed to his current position just so that Yu Muqing could see him, didn't he?

Xiao Xin was silent for a moment, then suddenly said, "If only Fu Yan were half as sensible as you."

They shouldn't be this tired.

"What's the use of being sensible?"

Qiao Chen's eyes were full of sarcasm. "In the end, he still didn't accept me."

All his efforts were ultimately a joke.

Xiao Xin noticed the redness in his eyes and suddenly felt a pang of guilt: "I'm sorry."

Qiao Chen shook his head, "It's okay, it's none of your business anyway. But if you ask me if I regret it, I don't regret it. I just chose my own way to love him. Whether he accepts it or not, I have no complaints."

Xiao Xin didn't know how to comfort him, but after careful consideration, he said, "I agree with your suggestion."

Qiao Chen looked directly at him and calmly asked, "Are you sure?"

Xiao Xin nodded. "Mm."

"OK."

Two days later, Xiao Xin was carrying her luggage and preparing to head to the airport.

He opened the door and got into the taxi when he received a call from the mobile phone store.

Xiao Xin answered the phone, and the shop owner asked him when he would pick up his phone.

Thinking of what was on his phone, Xiao Xin immediately told the driver to turn around and head towards Rose Street.

Half an hour later, Xiao Xin got off the bus with her luggage and walked slowly toward the mobile phone store.

When he was about five meters away from the mobile phone store, he saw a group of people squatting not far away, and they looked strangely familiar.

One of the men with slicked-back hair saw Xiao Xin and gestured with his chin to the blond-haired guy next to him, saying, "Boss, isn't that Xiao Xin?"

The blond-haired man tilted his head, spitting out the cigarette from his mouth. He squinted at Xiao Xin, his eyes beginning to gleam with greed.

He waved his hand at the person squatting on the ground and said, "Get up and get to work."

Five or six people stood up from the ground, each of them burly and tall.

Xiao Xin realized what was happening and started walking in the opposite direction with his suitcase. Before he had taken two steps, someone pulled his suitcase backward, causing him to lean back and almost fall to the ground.

A large hand grabbed his collar and pulled him back, preventing him from falling so embarrassingly.

Xiao Xin steadied himself, stared intently at the blond-haired man, and frowned: "Didn't we return all the money to you?"

The blond-haired man snorted coldly and tightened his grip on the man's collar. "The money you returned has nothing to do with us, but because of you, my buddy and I have both lost our jobs."

Xiao Xin's expression was indifferent: "What does this have to do with me?"

A guy next to him raised his fist, ready to punch him, "Brother, don't waste your breath on him, let me beat this kid up first."

The blond-haired man glared at the man, and the man immediately deflated like a coward.

He released Xiao Xin: "Come with us, we need to meet someone."

After saying that, he put his hands in his pockets, turned around, and was about to leave.

Xiao Xin stood rooted to the spot, motionless, his expression completely unchanged.

The blond-haired man turned around and saw that he wasn't leaving, so he frowned and asked, "Aren't you leaving?"

Xiao Xin pursed her lips and remained silent, glaring at him resentfully, "Why should I listen to you?"

The blond-haired man tilted his head and winked at the people next to him, and the two of them immediately grabbed Xiao Xin and walked forward.

After walking for a long time, Xiao Xin finally heard Huang Mao say, "It's because the person you want to see is your mother."

“Wang Lili?” Xiao Xin asked.

"Oh," the blond-haired man said, somewhat surprised, turning to look at Xiao Xin, "I didn't expect you to remember Sister Lily's name?"

Xiao Xin glanced at him lazily, then shook off the two people supporting her. "I can walk by myself."

The two men tried to pull Xiao Xin away, but the blond-haired man stopped them by raising his hand.

The group led Xiao Xin to an abandoned, unfinished building.

The surrounding area was deserted and desolate, so much so that there wasn't a soul in sight. In this gloomy and dark weather, it looked somewhat eerie.

Xiao Xin didn't feel anything; he was often brought here before.

The air was thick with the smell of smoke mixed with the stench of sweat. Xiao Xin's nose twitched, and he couldn't help but sneeze.
