Ten minutes later, the taxi stopped in front of the Blue Heart Club.
As soon as Xiao Xin got out of the car, he saw the manager rubbing his hands together, looking around nervously at the door.
Xiao Xin closed the car door behind her and walked up the steps.
When the manager saw him, his eyes lit up, and he took off running towards Xiao Xin.
He put his arm around Xiao Xin's and looked her over carefully. Then he cupped Xiao Xin's face in his hands and examined her closely. "Oh my little darling, you're finally back! Every minute and every second you were on the road felt like an eternity!"
Xiao Xin was startled by his sudden action. She grabbed his hand, which was moving haphazardly across her face, and frowned slightly. "I'm fine."
He looked listless and tired.
The manager withdrew his wrist from Xiao Xin's grasp, then grabbed Xiao Xin's arm, nervously glancing behind him to make sure no one was there before pulling Xiao Xin toward the door.
Xiao Xin broke free from his grip and said to him, "I'm really fine, Manager, you're overreacting."
Seeing his resistance and tired appearance, the manager said worriedly, "It's good that you're alright, but you don't look too good..."
Xiao Xin's face was bloodless, and her lips were pale.
He was indeed a little dizzy, but it wasn't a big problem. He told the manager, "You go ahead and get busy. I'll just wander around a bit."
The manager looked worried and, still uneasy, asked again, "Didn't you see Young Master Fu on the way?"
Xiao Xin shook his head: "No."
The manager nodded: "That's true. If we had run into each other, you probably wouldn't be standing here."
Xiao Xin suddenly remembered that the manager had asked him for his address earlier, and he realized something.
"Was that address Fu Yan asked you for?" Xiao Xin asked.
Seeing his slow reaction, the manager patted his arm: "Yeah, Young Master Fu took your address and left. He's probably looking for you."
Xiao Xin frowned and glanced behind him. Since that little rascal didn't know he was here, he might as well hide in the club for the night.
Thinking this, Xiao Xin looked away and said to the manager, "Let's get to work."
The manager gave him a complicated look, then nodded.
...
The sky, illuminated by the interplay of neon lights, took on a deep, inky blue hue.
It's rush hour now, and the traffic light intersection is completely jammed with all kinds of vehicles. Car horns are blaring everywhere, adding to the frustration of the drivers.
Inside a Maybach S680, Fu Yan rested one hand on the steering wheel, staring at the red light ahead that wouldn't turn on, his expression gradually becoming irritable.
Adding to the noise of various vehicles honking, Fu Yan felt his head buzzing, so annoyed that he wanted to step on the gas and crash into the car in front of him.
After being stuck at the intersection for a full twenty minutes, Fu Yan's patience wore thin. He slammed his hand on the steering wheel, grabbed his phone, opened the door, and got out of the car.
Fu Yan walked around the vehicles onto the sidewalk.
He didn't even notice the vehicles speeding towards him.
Just as the car slammed on its brakes in front of him, the driver rolled down his window and yelled at him, "What the hell are you doing, walking in the road? If you're going to die, find a better place to die! You're such a damn jinx!"
Fu Yan turned around and gave him a cold glare. Seeing his menacing look, the driver immediately backed down, thinking to himself: "He's so fierce, he must be crazy to be scared..."
Fu Yan ignored him and continued walking towards the roadside using the navigation.
After walking for about five minutes, he finally found the location.
This area isn't exactly bustling, and as you walk into the alleys, you can feel that the surrounding buildings are somewhat dilapidated.
Fu Yan glanced at the address and confirmed that this was the right place.
I never imagined that someone like that would rent a house in a place like this...
The surrounding houses were so desolate, like haunted houses, that there was no sign of human life, and you could smell a musty, rotten odor from time to time.
Fu Yan pinched his nose, his eyes full of disgust: "What kind of place is this?"
Having lived in City A for so many years, he had never seen any place in City A as desolate as this.
As darkness fell, the further into the alley, the dimmer the light became.
Fu Yan turned on the flashlight on his phone, used the light to follow the navigation, and made his way forward in the dark. When he passed through a dark stairwell, he saw a pair of eerie green eyes.
Fu Yan stopped in front of those eyes, and immediately several barks echoed in the dark stairwell, mixed with the clanking of chains, making the sound even more eerie and terrifying in the quiet alley.
Fu Yan glanced indifferently at the stairwell and continued walking forward, illuminated by the light.
After walking for more than ten minutes, Fu Yan realized that he was lost. He could not find the exit and felt like he was going around in circles.
He leaned against the wall dejectedly, and just as he was about to make a call, he discovered that his phone had run out of battery and shut down automatically.
Fu Yan slid down to the ground against the wall, suddenly having the illusion that he would die in this alley. He felt a chill on the back of his head as he leaned against the wall.
He buried his head in his knees in frustration, ran a few handfuls of his hair, and muttered under his breath, "Damn it..."
Why did he come to this alley?
Oh, by the way, his necklace is still on that old man.
Fu Yan felt even more powerless when he thought of this.
It seems we can only wait until dawn to decide.
Suddenly, footsteps came from the stairwell next door.
"Sister Lily, are you sure your son lives in this building? I just knocked on that door and no one answered." A man's gruff voice came from the stairwell.
His phone was on speakerphone, and a woman's voice came through: "Yes, he's the only tenant there today. I've already found out, he lives in that apartment."
The man exhaled a puff of smoke and pressed his tongue against his cheek: "I checked, there's no one in that room."
