Chapter 49 Whatever makes you happy

Xiao Xin drove back to the large hospital. He parked the car in the parking lot and got out first to get the wheelchair from the trunk.

He had just put the wheelchair down when Fu Yan came over carrying Xiao Lin and put her in the wheelchair.

Throughout the journey, including now, apart from the brief exchange with Xiao Xin, Fu Yan and Xiao Xin have barely spoken to each other, and haven't even made eye contact.

To be precise, Fu Yan had been deliberately avoiding Xiao Xin's gaze.

Xiao Xin could tell that Fu Yan was avoiding him, but he didn't say anything. This was for the best, so that Fu Yan wouldn't keep sticking to him and calling him "brother."

Fu Yan pushed Xiao Lin into the elevator, with Xiao Xin following closely behind.

Upon arriving at the lobby on the first floor, Xiao Xin busied herself with processing Xiao Lin's hospitalization procedures.

During the pauses in Fu Yan's conversation with Xiao Lin, he would occasionally glance at Xiao Xin's busy figure.

Xiao Xin is tall and slender, but when Fu Yan hugged him yesterday, he noticed that Xiao Xin had some muscles and looked like he had been working out.

However, Xiao Xin's muscles were not as strong as his, his shoulders were not as broad, and the part of his ankle exposed at the bottom of his pants was also slender and bony, which he could easily hold with one hand.

Xiao Lin noticed that Fu Yan's gaze was drifting elsewhere, and he seemed distracted while talking to him. Following Fu Yan's gaze, Xiao Lin immediately spotted Xiao Xin.

He immediately understood and couldn't help but chuckle: "What, you like it?"

Fu Yan stared at Xiao Xin's retreating figure, nodding with a dreamy expression: "Mm."

Xiao Lin suddenly leaned closer to him and whispered in Fu Yan's ear with a smile, "If you like her, just go for it!"

Fu Yan finally came to his senses. He looked at Xiao Lin's smiling face and lowered his head in embarrassment: "No, Dad, you've misunderstood..."

Xiao Lin sat back in his wheelchair, his eyes crinkling with a smile: "Don't you like it?"

Fu Yan nodded, then shook his head, a hint of red appearing on his ears.

He clasped his hands tightly on his thighs, like a high school student caught in a relationship by his elders, and suddenly felt a little nervous.

Xiao Lin saw right through him and chuckled, "Hehe, young man, you're younger than my little Xin, aren't you?"

Fu Yan nodded: "Yes, the doctor said I'm twenty."

Fu Yan was wearing a black beret, and her shy expression made her look adorable.

If Fu Yan hadn't been injured on his head, he would have liked to pat Fu Yan's head.

After thinking it over, Xiao Lin put his hand on Fu Yan's shoulder, his expression suddenly turning serious.

"Of course you can like someone. My son Xin has always been popular, and I'm never worried about him dating. However, he's five years older than you. You're still young, so you need to think it through..."

"He used to..." Fu Yan suddenly interrupted Xiao Lin, "Did he date anyone?"

Xiao Lin nodded, "I heard from Xiao Xin that he's had a girlfriend, but I haven't heard of a boyfriend. However, he has a childhood friend who looks a lot like you, named He Yunzhou..."

Fu Yan frowned again when he heard He Yunzhou's name; he had heard it countless times today.

However, Fu Yan didn't want to dwell on this question, and instead asked Xiao Lin, "What girlfriends did he date before, brother?"

Xiao Lin hummed in agreement: "This kid used to be very popular; he never lacked girlfriends..."

Upon hearing this, Fu Yan felt a sudden tightness in his chest. It turned out that he and Xiao Xin hadn't actually been a couple before...

He covered his forehead, feeling as if he had forgotten someone very important.

Xiao Lin noticed Fu Yan's dejected expression and belatedly realized that his words had hurt Fu Yan. He raised his hand and patted Fu Yan's shoulder again: "It's okay, young man. You're so young and good-looking, you definitely won't lack for a girlfriend. Don't give up the whole forest for my son's green leaf, hahaha..."

"What green leaves, what forest?"

Xiao Xin had somehow gotten behind Fu Yan. Seeing Fu Yan clutching his forehead, she assumed he had a headache and hurriedly squatted down in front of him, asking, "Does it hurt?"

Fu Yan noticed the panic in Xiao Xin's eyes and assumed he was worried about him, so he nodded slightly.

Xiao Xin pulled Xiao Lin's hand off Fu Yan's shoulder and asked reproachfully, "Dad, what did you just say to him?"

Xiao Lin opened his mouth, wanting to explain but not knowing how. Xiao Xin scolded him, and he opened his mouth, wanting to explain but not knowing how.

Fu Yan didn't want Xiao Lin to feel embarrassed because of him, so he immediately grasped Xiao Xin's hand: "It's not Dad's fault, don't yell at him..."

Xiao Xin frowned: "You've gotten addicted to calling me that, haven't you?"

Xiao Xin realized that there was no relative Fu Yan couldn't recognize.

Fu Yan also shut up and released Xiao Xin's hand.

Xiao Xin pushed Xiao Lin's wheelchair, saying to him as they walked, "Dad, I've told you before that he injured his brain. If anything happens to him, neither of us can take responsibility..."

Fu Yan followed quietly behind him, feeling strangely uncomfortable as he listened to Xiao Xin's words.

It turns out that in Xiao Xin's eyes, he was nothing more than a responsibility...

Xiao Xin doesn't seem to want to take on this "responsibility" yet.

No wonder Xiao Xin sometimes seems annoyed; she probably dislikes him...

Xiao Xin, who was walking ahead, had no idea what Fu Yan was thinking. Seeing that he looked preoccupied, she thought he had a headache and couldn't help but ask, "Does your head hurt?"

Fu Yan shook his head. "It's alright. You should settle Dad in first."

Xiao Xin didn't bother to correct his way of addressing Xiao Lin, and turned to press the elevator button.

The elevator doors opened, and Xiao Xin told Fu Yan to follow.

Fu Yan lowered his eyes and obediently followed behind. Xiao Xin felt that something was wrong with him, but didn't ask any questions. After pressing the floor button for him, she said to Fu Yan, "Go back to your ward first. Don't wander around. If you need anything, just tell the bodyguard."

Fu Yan nodded, hummed in agreement, and then said nothing more.

After Xiao Xin finished dealing with Xiao Lin's matter, it was already 2 PM. He ate a quick meal in the cafeteria and then prepared to return to Fu Yan's ward.
