Chapter 40 looks so similar

"Ah, hiss..."

Xiao Xin's head slammed hard against the windowsill, and he gasped in pain.

The two were on the bed. Fu Yan propped himself up and knelt between Xiao Xin's legs, looking at the person beneath him with concern and asking, "Are you alright?"

Xiao Xin was in so much pain that her face was contorted in pain, and she couldn't speak.

You little bastard, does he look like he's alright...?

Fu Yan leaned against the windowsill with one hand and used the other to rub the back of Xiao Xin's head, his voice filled with guilt: "I'm sorry..."

Xiao Xin opened her eyes and looked at him, staring at Fu Yan as if he were a lunatic: "Are you alright?"

He was the one who provoked Fu Yan first, so why is he apologizing to him instead?

Fu Yan hovered above him, his face very close, and a faint woody fragrance wafted from his body.

Xiao Xin felt a sudden obstruction in her breathing when she smelled that odor.

He pursed his lips, his gaze involuntarily falling on the lips so close to his, and he swallowed instinctively.

Their posture was ambiguous, and memories of that night flooded back. Xiao Xin's eyes darted around, unsure where to look.

Fu Yan gently rubbed the back of his head, asking from time to time, "Are you feeling better?"

Xiao Xin felt ticklish from his tickling and immediately felt that something was wrong all over her body.

He raised his hand and pushed Fu Yan's shoulder. "Get out of the way!"

Fu Yan paused in her rubbing of his head and withdrew her hand.

He was just about to get up when he noticed the star pendant around Xiao Xin's neck.

He paused in his movement to stand up, and Xiao Xin's forehead bumped into Fu Yan's chin.

Xiao Xin was about to lash out, clutching her forehead, when she noticed Fu Yan staring intently at her neck.

The collar of his blue and white hospital gown was wide open, and a crystal star pendant lay on his collarbone, reflecting light.

As if realizing something, Xiao Xin raised his hand to cover himself, but Fu Yan grabbed his wrist and leaned down to press down on him again.

Xiao Xin stared blankly into his unfathomable black eyes for a moment.

Fu Yan stared intently at the star pendant on his collarbone, his gaze growing increasingly inscrutable.

Xiao Xin blinked. Judging from Fu Yan's expression, he probably remembered.

The patient was most afraid of stimulation, so Xiao Xin didn't dare to move around anymore.

Fu Yan released one of his hands that was holding Xiao Xin's wrist and reached for the star pendant on his collarbone.

Xiao Xin held his breath, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.

Fu Yan's icy fingertips touched his collarbone, and his body couldn't help but tremble slightly.

Xiao Xin: "..."

Fu Yan ignored Xiao Xin's reaction, flipped through the pendant and looked at it. Fragments of thoughts flashed through his mind, gradually turning into a jumbled mess.

For some reason, he felt a tightness in his chest, making it hard to breathe.

He loosened his grip on the necklace, raised his hand to cover his chest, where he felt a sharp, throbbing pain, as if someone were tightly gripping his chest.

Xiao Xin noticed his strange expression and was momentarily stunned, unsure how to react.

Fu Yan tried to get up, but due to shortness of breath, he collapsed weakly back onto Xiao Xin.

Xiao Xin was forced to endure his fatal "slam," his eyes wide with pain, and he cursed under his breath, "Damn it..."

Xiao Xin pushed the person who had fallen on top of him: "Hey, get up if you're not dead..."

Fu Yan was breathing rapidly beside his ear, and Xiao Xin could feel his chest heaving violently.

He suddenly realized something was wrong, so he protected Fu Yan's neck, pushed Fu Yan's shoulders, and turned him over.

Xiao Xin was then able to sit up again.

He held Fu Yan's head in his arms and leaned down to press the call button on the bedside table.

Fu Yan frowned, buried his face in Xiao Xin's chest, and held tightly to Xiao Xin's clothes with both hands.

He looked very uncomfortable, and Xiao Xin resisted the urge to push him away.

Fu Yan's forehead was covered in sweat, whether from pain or fear, it was hard to tell.

Xiao Xin's heart pounded with anxiety; "I hope I don't hurt my head so badly I go crazy..."

Fortunately, the doctor arrived in time, and Xiao Xin finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He looked up and saw that Yu Muqing was also following closely behind the doctor.

The doctor glanced at Fu Yan in Xiao Xin's arms and noticed that the fear on Fu Yan's face didn't seem to be from pain, but rather as if he had remembered something terrible.

He checked Fu Yan's head, and after confirming that everything was alright, he made way for Yu Muqing behind him.

Yu Muqing took the medicine in her hand, sat down by the bed, and fed it to Fu Yan.

Xiao Xin helped him, and it took a lot of effort to successfully feed Fu Yan the medicine.

Fu Yan held onto Xiao Xin's clothes the whole time, refusing to let go.

Yu Muqing asked the doctor to leave first, then sat down by the bed and asked Xiao Xin, "What's wrong with him?"

Xiao Xin lowered her eyes, not daring to look at him: "He saw that star pendant just now, and then this happened..."

Yu Muqing was silent for a while, then said, "Don't show him that pendant in the future."

Xiao Xin looked up in surprise: "Why?"

Yu Muqing rubbed her forehead and pressed her temples: "It's better to forget those painful memories."

Xiao Xin pursed her lips, unsure how to respond. After a pause, she asked, "Because it's related to Jiang Yuqing?"

Yu Muqing glanced at him sideways, then nodded: "Pretty much... Anyway, just don't show him that necklace."

Xiao Xin nodded and said, "Okay."

He didn't dare to look at Fu Yan, because he couldn't bear the consequences if something like this happened again.

“Also,” Yu Muqing said, “I will bring you the medicine he needs later.”

"That medicine from earlier?" Xiao Xin asked.

Yu Muqing nodded: "Yes, that's for treating depression."

Xiao Xin fell silent; he had no idea that Fu Yan's illness was so severe.

Such a beautiful face, and now it's been afflicted with this disease...
