Chapter 22 This is just wishful thinking
"squeak!"
"Ah!" Hong Zhuo was frightened directly, but he still waved the lantern in his hand towards the mouse while screaming.
She subconsciously wanted to protect Fu Zhaoning.
Fu Zhaoning moved his wrist and an embroidery needle shot towards the mouse.
"squeak!"
The mouse cried out, twitched a few times on the ground and then stopped moving.
Fu Zhaoning reached out and patted Hong Zhuo's shoulder, "Don't be afraid."
Hong Zhuo stared at her blankly, with the tip of his nose feeling a little hot.
Wow, Miss Fu is so nice. Miss Fu has such cool skills!
The lantern she had just thrown at the mouse fell to the ground, and the candle inside started burning, burning through the paper cover of the lantern. A clump of weeds over there also started burning, and for a moment the flames illuminated the dim yard.
Fenxing hurried over with a basin of water and poured it on the fire. With a sizzling sound, the fire was extinguished, black smoke rose, and the smell was a bit unpleasant.
"Ms. Fu, are you okay?"
Fu Zhaoning shook his head, "It's okay."
She walked towards the house. The main wing was divided into two rooms, separated by a semicircular arch. There should have been a gauze curtain hanging on the arch, but now it was bare. Standing at the door, she could see the bed in the inner room at a glance.
The bed was also of a very simple style, with the gauze curtain not yet hung up and a pile of quilts on the bed that had not yet been made.
In the outer room there was a square table, four round chairs, a wooden washstand and a small dressing table, which was empty.
On the other side there is a wooden closet that is one and a half meters tall. The door is now open. It should be because Fanxing had just applied it and the door is open to ventilate and remove the smell.
There was a window in the room, facing the square table. The window was open at this moment, and there was no curtain. The window paper was covered with dust, and several corners had flown off.
This is Prince Jun's Mansion.
Fu Zhaoning sighed softly.
This is no different from being penniless.
Fen Xing and Hong Zhuo followed in and looked at each other, "Ms. Fu, let's go ask the housekeeper tomorrow if we can find another courtyard."
When they first entered Jianjiayuan, they all felt sorry for it.
Fu Zhaoning shook his head calmly, "No need."
She had lived in worse places than this one before. When she had recovered and was able to rescue her grandfather, she would then discuss the divorce with Prince Jun. It would be good for the two of them to part ways amicably.
Even if I'm just staying here temporarily, as a guest, what can I choose?
Fen Xing and Hong Zhuo both thought she was too calm, but they were only second-class maids in the palace and had no say.
"Miss Fu, let's clean up."
This house has been uninhabited for a long time, and there is no sign of life at all. There are some places with mildew in the corners and behind the door. Fu Zhaoning looked up at the roof and even saw two or three spider webs. There was also a little dampness in the house.
Originally, a house like this needs to be cleaned thoroughly, fumigated with mugwort, and ventilated for two days before being able to move in.
Now Fu Zhaoning was too lazy to bother with the people in the palace.
Fortunately, these two maids are good and work very skillfully.
They packed up what they could, made the bed, hung up the gauze curtains, and went to find some window screens to stick up. They also brought a few candles, so they could temporarily spend the night.
After all this trouble, night had already fallen.
Prince Jun didn't send anyone over to say anything, and there was no movement.
When Fu Zhaoning came back from the Fu family, she had originally planned to ask about the trip to Luoyue Mountain tomorrow after arriving at the palace, but now Prince Jun obviously didn't want to pay attention, so she could only rely on herself.
"Miss Fu, we will withdraw first. You should have a good rest."
Hong Zhuo and Fen Xing bowed to her.
Fu Zhaoning was stunned for a moment, "Don't you live in Jianjia Courtyard?"
When she asked this, Hong Zhuo and Fen Xing felt even more embarrassed. "The housekeeper said that we should move back to our original place. It's not specially assigned to you."
Fu Zhaoning understood.
She originally thought that these two maids were assigned to her, but now it seems that she was just being wishful thinking.
She is not even as good as a guest.
“Miss Fu, if there is anything, you can call us and we will try our best to move over here.”
"Thank you, I won't need them for now. But could you please help me prepare a few things tomorrow morning? I'll take them back when I'm done with them, so it's considered a loan."
Hong Zhuo and Fen Xing looked at each other and said, "Please give your orders."
Fu Zhaoning said a few things, and after they agreed to leave, he took off his coat and lay down on the bed.
It was a temporary bed, and it was indeed not soft. Fortunately, she had experienced all kinds of hardships when she had been on special missions before, and could withstand any harsh environment.
This day was really tiring enough. After lying down, Fu Zhaoning didn't even have the energy to think about anything else and fell asleep in seconds.
"Ms. Fu!"
Fu Zhaoning was startled by the sound of rapid knocking on the door.
She sat up suddenly and recognized Hong Zhuo's voice, "What's wrong?"
"The palace has sent the Imperial Guards to escort you to Luoyue Mountain!"
Fu Zhaoning frowned, but did not hesitate and immediately got out of bed, "Come in, have you prepared clothes for me?"
Hong Zhuo pushed the door open, holding a large bag in her hands, and walked over quickly.
"We haven't had time to prepare the things you asked us to buy last night, so we can only take two sets of clothes for me and Fanxing. Please don't mind!"
She opened the bag, took out one of the clothes and handed it to Fu Zhaoning.
When Fu Zhaoning got married, she had no dowry at all. She didn't have time to think through the details yesterday. Anyway, she only had one set of wedding dress, and it would be wrong to go into the mountains with such a burden.
Fortunately, the maids' clothes were relatively light, so she changed into them without saying a word.
Hong Zhuo and Fen Xing have similar body shapes to her, some are even fatter than her. Their clothes fit Fu Zhaoning well, so she just needs to tighten the belt a bit.
"Fen Xing went to find someone to get a small shovel and a backpack, but the Royal Guards are rushing her, and I don't know if she will make it in time."
Hong Zhuo was so anxious that she pointed at a pack of oil paper and said, "The kitchen hasn't even started preparing breakfast yet. There are only two steamed buns left over from last night. I'll ask the cook for them right away."
In addition, she also brought the cloth strips that Fu Zhaoning mentioned and a pack of embroidery needles.
There is really no time for anything else.
"These are my shoes." Fu Zhaoning was still wearing lucky shoes, which were red in color. Although they were soft, the soles were thin and definitely not suitable for going into the mountains.
She tried on the shoes that Hong Zhuo brought, but found that they were too big and her feet were too slender to wear.
"What should we do?" Hong Zhuo was so anxious that his eyes turned red.
Qing Yi's voice could be heard from the yard outside.
"Miss Fu, the Imperial Guards are here to urge us to leave immediately."
Fu Zhaoning took a deep breath, packed his things and put them on his back, put on his lucky shoes, strode out, and when he opened the door, he found that it was still dark and it was not dawn yet.
No wonder she felt like she had barely slept.
This is a death sentence!
