Chapter 249 The Third Day of the Lunar New Year

Xiao Yu was still a little dazed when he lay down on the bed. Zhou Yan's first day of recognition had passed like this. Other people's recognition of relatives was either crying or sitting together reminiscing about everything.

The recognition between Old Man Zhou and Zhou Yan was like a long-awaited reunion.

"Carry them out." Zhou Yan finished washing up and walked into the room. The room in the small building was very large, enough for them to place two cribs. "The old man should have noticed it."

Xiao Yu: (⊙o⊙)…

"You noticed it already?"

"Don't you think about what he does? He probably noticed it when you entered the space this morning. He just didn't mention it."

Xiao Yu thought about it and realized that this wasn't some brainless, low-IQ novel. If the head of a country's intelligence department couldn't even detect something unusual right next to them, he was truly incompetent!

"Let's do as we agreed for now. If he finds out, it's his fault, and he can't protect his great-grandson himself." Zhou Yan said bluntly.

Xiao Yu: Now that you mention it, I suddenly feel that Old Man Zhou is quite pitiful!

Bringing the two boys out of the space just saved Xiao Yu from having to stay awake at night to check the space. As for the two boys, they had no interest in the new environment.

I took a look with a yawn and then it was time to go to sleep.

"What did you do during the day?" Zhou Yan raised his eyebrows. A six-month-old baby has more time to play every day, but the child's curiosity about the new environment will not change.

Xiao Yu yawned as if he was infected. "When the tiger is away, the monkeys are king. They've taken care of every toy in the space today."

"It seems that you are very dissatisfied with the usual distribution of toys?"

"That's not..."

On the morning of the third day of junior high school, Xiao Liu went to the cafeteria to buy steamed buns, porridge and pickles for breakfast.

Xiao Yu slept in. When he woke up and saw that someone was taking care of the child, he went to the kitchen and mixed the pork fat that Xiao Liu had bought yesterday with some pork belly fat to make lard residue.

The oil refining took a bit of time because we got up late and finished it after eleven o'clock.

For lunch, Xiao Yu simply made a pot of rice. His recipe was simple: boil a pot of water, add the washed rice, bring it back to a boil, and simmer for about ten minutes. Scoop out the rice soup, leaving a little to simmer for a while. When the steam in the pot dries up, pile the rice in the pot, cover it, and let it simmer for about ten minutes. Then, add a little more fire, and when there's some crusty rice in the pot, stir it over, add some more firewood, and it's done. If you like crusty rice, you can simmer it a little longer.

It sounds complicated, but it's actually very easy to make if you have a good fire and control the temperature. Especially for those who like crispy rice, you can usually get a large piece of crispy rice in the end.

While the rice is cooking, I fry some cabbage hearts, and then process the braised dishes that I didn’t finish yesterday, stir-fry some chili pork intestines, stir-fry some pig hearts, and finally finish with stir-fry shredded potatoes.

Xiao Yu didn't have the habit of making soup, so the soup for lunch could only be rice soup.

The children’s lunch was mashed potatoes made by Xiao Yu from steamed potatoes placed in rice, with broth added.

In fact, they weren't starving. While Xiao Yu was cooking the lard, the old man used a spoon to scrape applesauce for the two babies to eat.

Since the eldest and the younger daughters had eaten them, Xiao Yu did not show favoritism. He took the opportunity of eating the apple to scrape some off for his two sons as well.

The old man and Xiao Liu had a very satisfying lunch, and even drank the rice soup that was specially kept warm in an enamel pot for them. If you didn't know them, you would think they didn't have any food to eat.

After dinner, Xiao Yu and the old man went to rest. After Xiao Liu and Zhou Yan cleaned the table, they washed the radish and cabbage. Under Xiao Yu's spiritual command, Zhou Yan fermented the dough and prepared to steam buns in the evening.

I originally wanted to make dumplings, but they were busy right after they arrived, and it wouldn’t look good if it got out.

Xiao Yu slept in a daze. When he woke up, he looked at the noodles by the stove in the kitchen and found that they were almost risen.

Everyone knows how to make dumplings, but making buns requires skill. When Xiao Yu first learned from his mother, he was scolded for several years before he learned it.

The main reason is that there is no time to learn, and when I occasionally learn, the ones I make are too ugly and don’t meet my mother’s aesthetic standards, so I am kicked out early.

Zhou Yan was a quick learner; after making four or five, he was already quite good at it. Xiao Liu, on the other hand, was a bit clumsy. However, Xiao Yu felt that a novice could be forgiven; after all, if the dumplings were too ugly, he would eat them himself later.

"Then I'll put more meat in it." Xiao Liu didn't dislike his ugly buns at all.

"Grandpa Zhou, what delicious food will your family make tonight? I brought some candy to exchange with you." The buns were still in the pot when the five or six-year-old chubby boy who had been there yesterday came to the door.

Grandpa Zhou was holding his great-granddaughter, and he looked at the fat little boy with displeasure. Especially when he saw the few fruit candies in her hand, and she actually wanted to exchange them for his meat buns.

"Your grandpa is so rude!" Grandpa Zhou said that they would no longer be friends with him.

The little fat boy grinned and said, "My grandpa said that I rarely ate at Grandpa Zhou's before, but it's okay to eat more now."

Mr. Zhou -_-||: ...It was his fault that he didn't open fire before?

Not long after the fat kid arrived, another little kid named Tangbao, who was there yesterday, also arrived. This little guy was dropped off at the gate by his older brother, and then he came in, panting, holding two large apples.

After entering the door, I saw Grandpa Zhou holding the child, nodded, and said very politely: "Grandpa Zhou, my mother said that my sister can eat apples now. I will exchange the apples for your meat."

Grandpa Zhou wanted to kick them out. He had tasted the sweetness yesterday, so today the adults were too embarrassed to come over, so he sent the children instead. Poor grandchildren and granddaughters-in-law he just recognized, they barely ate the delicious food they made yesterday, and now they are making a whole pot of buns, and there will probably not be many left.
