Chapter 7 The Enemy is Coming

Even though Yang Wanyan usually hid her emotions very well, there was still a hint of a crack on her face now.

The common people were scattered. Ni Yueshan jumped off the carriage and walked towards the officers and soldiers: "I reported the case. I reported that General Zou hired a killer to rape and kill me! He was the one who ordered the general to do it!"

Ni Yueshan pointed at the rickshaw driver lying on the ground, and the people from the Dali Temple stepped forward and lifted the rickshaw driver up.

The head of the Dali Temple walked to a place not far from Yang Wanyan and asked, "I guess this must be Concubine Yang?"

Yang Wanyan frowned slightly and bowed slightly: "It is indeed me, but please believe that the general is serving the country and the people and will never do anything to murder Miss Ni."

"When the Dali Temple handles cases, they only believe in evidence." The leader said seriously, without giving Yang Wanyan any face.

Ni Yueshan stepped forward and said, "Brother officer, please search Concubine Yang's courtyard and find a knife with a blade about four inches wide, a handle about three inches wide, and a thickness of less than half an inch. That was the weapon Concubine Yang used to commit the murder in public!"

When Ni Yueshan was kicked out of the general's mansion, she packed up a lot of dowry items, each of which was worth a fortune. Ni Yueshan had already given those things to these people when she reported the case.

They did not question the clues provided by Ni Yueshan and went to search.

Otherwise, who would care if she, an abandoned woman, sued the general's mansion because of something that happened after she was divorced?

Yang Wanyan's face darkened. "Miss Ni, what do you mean by that? A murder weapon? Aren't you still alive and well?"

Ni Yueshan didn't want to pay attention to Yang Wanyan's questioning. Why bother with someone who pretends to be ignorant when he knows the truth?

"Brother officer, the first person I'm suing is Yang Wanyan! She stabbed my maid to death with a knife in public. I ask you to search for bloodstains throughout the General's Mansion; there must be some."

Yang Wanyan, who had been acting so delicate, immediately asked in pain, "Miss Ni, stop talking nonsense. When have I ever hurt anyone?"

Ni Yueshan ignored her completely. She looked at the coachman who was still lying on the ground. "This man is so audacious and lustful that he had evil intentions towards my other maid, Zuo Ying, and even raped her in the carriage! I beg the officers to arrest him and convict him!"

"I'm innocent, I'm innocent." The driver begged for mercy, but the officer didn't even want to look at him. "Take him away!"

The search team quickly emerged and reported to the chief officer, "After the search, we did find a blade that matched the description. We also found some bloodstains in the general's residence, which match Miss Ni's description."

"Mrs. Yang, you are suspected of murder. Please come in."

Yang Wanyan's face paled slightly, and before she could speak, Hong Rou at the side took the initiative to say, "Our concubine just had a miscarriage and is very weak. The doctor also recommended that Concubine Yang get more rest. I am also here today, so why not take me away with you?"

Hong Rou was so protective of her master, Ni Yueshan sneered: "So, you were the one who killed someone with a knife? You were also the one who caused the miscarriage?"

Hong Rou was choked by the blockage. She wanted to say something else, but Yang Wanyan started coughing. "Miss Ni really wants Wanyan to go to the Dali Temple. If Wanyan doesn't go, Miss Ni will definitely say that Wanyan is guilty. So Wanyan should go."

She patted the back of Hongrou's hand soothingly: "I believe in the justice and strictness of the Dali Temple."

Then she looked at the servants crowded at the gate of the general's mansion and said, "Everyone, go and do your own thing. I'm going to cooperate with the investigation and will be back soon."

She's just a maid, so what if I kill her?

She just felt that Ni Yueshan was desperate and would not let go of her mistakes.

"Aunt Yang." Bai Han wanted to persuade her.

Yang Wanyan suggested, "The general has made great military achievements and is attending a banquet in the palace. He certainly doesn't know about what happened in the general's residence. If the general doesn't come back to see me after the banquet, you can just say I'm resting. Don't say anything else, so as not to worry the general."

Her words sounded like she was considering Zou Yangyao, but in fact she was reminding the servants in the general's mansion to notify the general.

Ni Yueshan curled her lips coldly. It would be better if she informed Zou Yangyao. She was afraid that Zou Yangyao would not show up.

Led by the officials, the group went to the Dali Temple.

The Dali Temple covers a vast area and is built extremely majestically and tall. When viewed from afar, one can feel a solemn and majestic atmosphere coming towards them, which makes people feel a little more serious.

Inside, Ni Yueshan and others were brought in.

"Master Temple Minister, bring Miss Ni, Concubine Yang, and everyone else from the General's Mansion here."

"Who is Miss Ni?"

A thin, sixty-year-old man, his eyes somewhat cloudy, opened his mouth to ask, his teeth loose, one of them missing. Ni Yueshan stepped forward and said, "It's me. Today I'm suing this Yang concubine beside me. She killed my maid Liu Yue with a knife."

Then Ni Yueshan pointed at the driver lying on the ground beside him and said, "Sue him for defiling our maid Zuo Ying, causing her to commit suicide out of grief and anger."

"Sir, all of this is Miss Ni's one-sided statement. Please don't believe it." Yang Wanyan said as he knelt down with a sad face.

Dali Temple Minister Kang Xueyi glanced at Yang Wanyan unhappily. "I didn't ask you any questions, and the coroner has already examined the body. The report is that the murder weapon was a knife blade, about four inches long and less than half an inch thick..."

The chief officer stepped forward and presented a dagger. "This was found in Concubine Yang's room. It matches the clues the Minister of the Temple just provided. Furthermore, residual bloodstains were found in the General's Mansion and in Concubine Yang's courtyard. If there is another person who can testify besides Miss Ni herself, Concubine Yang can be convicted."

Yang Wanyan bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes. "Master Temple Minister, please investigate. I am innocent. Although the blade was found in my courtyard, I did not kill the man! This is all a frame-up. The general was there at the time, so please let him come forward to testify!"

"My Lord, I, your servant, am innocent. I have not defiled anyone!"

Ni Yueshan watched coldly, feeling only trouble.

"Your Excellency, someone from the Prime Minister's Residence has arrived outside the Dali Temple, wishing to sit in on the trial!"

Ni Yueshan is the legitimate daughter of the Prime Minister's Mansion. She was divorced today and made a big fuss outside the General's Mansion, alarming the Dali Temple. This led to the people spreading the news, and it was hard for the people in the Prime Minister's Mansion not to know about it.

The Prime Minister was a first-rank official, while the Dali Temple Minister was only third-rank. He had respect for the Prime Minister's Office and quickly said, "Approved!"

Yang Wanyan frowned, "Sir, this is unfair!"

Who doesn’t know that Ni Yueshan is from the Prime Minister’s Mansion?

"What's unfair about this?" A clear voice rang out, with a hint of sharpness. Yang Wanyan was stunned. The voice belonged to a woman!

When he turned around, he saw a beautiful middle-aged woman in a rose-red dress. She was from the second wife of the Prime Minister's Mansion! Ni Yueshan's mortal enemy!
