In Ni Yueshan's eyes, Miao Qinghua was just a nuisance.
"It seems General Zou's injury isn't too serious. After not seeing him for two days, he's missed me so much that he insists on asking you, Princess, to go there in person and see for yourself. Does this mean you don't trust me? Do you think I'd do anything bad to you?"
No matter what Ni Yueshan said, Miao Qinghua would argue, but she would not let anyone see it.
Ni Yueshan felt somewhat frustrated, so she said helplessly, "Then I will not go to see you. But, Queen Mother, is Madam Zou's treatment for your headache effective?"
Miao Qinghua smiled slightly and said, "If it doesn't work, I won't keep you in the harem. Princess Regent, please rest assured that the General's wife is doing well."
As Ni Yueshan left, he glanced at Tai Banxue and then walked out.
After Ni Yueshan left, Miao Qinghua looked at Tai Banxue and asked, "Why did you enter the palace with the Regent Princess?"
Tai Banxue lowered her head and responded, "Didn't the Princess Regent say that we were traveling together because we both wanted to see the General's wife?"
Miao Qinghua snorted coldly, "Now that the Princess Regent has left, who are you telling these lies to?"
Tai Banxue's expression changed, he lowered his head and said nothing more.
Miao Qinghua was a little annoyed: "You're still thinking of not telling the truth in front of me? Fine, I have plenty of ways to make you confess!"
Tai Banxue raised her head in surprise and quickly spoke, "Queen Dowager, I know I was wrong. The Regent Princess discovered me spreading rumors, so she forced me to come and apologize to the General's wife. I was forced to do so. I dared not deliberately conceal this from the Queen Dowager. I beg you to calm your anger."
Miao Qinghua, however, showed a look of disbelief: "Is it that simple?"
Tai Banxue was extremely certain: "Yes! I am sure!"
Miao Qinghua looked at Tai Banxue and finally chuckled, "Get up! I just promised to take you to see the general's wife in person!"
Tai Banxue looked terrified: "I dare not. I will go on my own."
"Why, am I the kind of person who would speak carelessly?" Miao Qinghua's tone became increasingly stern.
Miao Qinghua then stood up and said, "Let's go, let's go meet someone!"
In a side hall next to the Cining Palace, from afar, a woman was sitting quietly on a stone bench, holding a book in her hand. Her long black hair was neatly tied up in a simple bun, and her clothes were also simple and refreshing. She was so engrossed in what she was reading that she didn't even notice someone coming.
It was not until someone deliberately coughed twice that Xiao Chuer looked up.
She quickly stood up and said, "Meet the Queen Mother."
Miao Qinghua didn't let her get up, but instead looked at Tai Banxue beside her: "See? I've never treated the General's wife unfairly. Except for the General not being here, how is this place not better than the General's Mansion?"
"Yes, the Queen Mother is absolutely right!" Tai Banxue quickly agreed.
When Xiao Chuer heard this, she felt very strange and didn't know what it meant.
Facing her puzzled gaze, Miao Qinghua spoke again, "When you leave the palace, remember to tell the Regent Princess that the General's wife is doing well and there's no need to worry about her every day."
"Yes." Tai Banxue didn't dare to say more and simply responded with one word.
Miao Qinghua's gaze returned to Tai Banxue's voice: "You should apologize."
Xiao Chuer was confused. Apologize?
Tai Banxue hesitantly stepped forward and spoke, "I'm sorry, General's wife. You've been in the palace for a while, and I don't know if you're aware of the rumors outside the palace. I've come here today to apologize."
Xiao Chuer looked at Tai Banxue in confusion, but she did not interrupt her and just looked at her steadily.
Tai Banxue raised her head and continued, "I fueled the rumors. I'm sorry!"
He bowed deeply, looking extremely sincere.
Xiao Chuer understood what was going on. She nodded calmly, "I understand."
The voice was very faint, as if he had never cared.
Tai Banxue breathed a sigh of relief, then stepped forward, her guilt gone, and asked, "Madam General, I'm asking on behalf of the General, are you getting used to living in the palace?"
Tai Banxue was apologizing just a moment ago, but now...
Xiao Chu'er was stunned for only a moment, then immediately said, "I've lived here for two days, and I'm not used to it anymore."
Tai Banxue lowered her head and said nothing more.
The atmosphere was tense for a moment, and then a palace attendant stepped forward and said, "Queen Dowager, would you please take a seat?"
Miao Qinghua didn't refuse and sat down on the seat beside her. "Please take my pulse and massage my acupuncture points to make my headache feel better."
Xiao Chuer obeyed the order and stepped forward to take Miao Qinghua's pulse. Miao Qinghua looked calm and waited quietly for the result.
Tai Banxue stood aside, his eyes watching his nose and his nose watching his heart.
Until Xiao Chuer withdrew her hand and said, "The Queen Mother's pulse is stable. The headache is the same as before. It's probably caused by overthinking."
"Are you still sticking with the previous prescription?" Miao Qinghua asked.
Xiao Chuer responded very respectfully: "Yes!"
Tai Banxue, who had been standing quietly to the side, spoke up, "Madam General, may I ask how long it will take for the Queen Mother's headache to subside, or for it to be cured?"
Xiao Chu'er responded in a conventional manner: "The Queen Mother needs to carefully rest her mind instead of straining it every day. After a while, the headache symptoms will naturally disappear. As for the duration, it will take at least half a month, and at most, the Queen Mother will suffer from headaches for the rest of her life."
Tai Banxue was surprised. "No way! I was thinking about going to the General's Mansion after you left the palace. I was afraid that if I spread rumors, the General would get to know about them and it would be detrimental to me."
