Chapter 36 Violet Ji Jiazhen is passionately kissing someone.
Fang Wei's rejection was within Ji Jiazhen's expectations. She had considered all the possible scenarios of rejection before making the call, so after meeting Fang Wei, she had already planned what to do the next day.
—Kill Fang Wei's family.
When she arrived, Fang Wei was tending to the flowers and plants in the yard. She observed her for a long time through the slightly rusty black fence. After Fang Wei finished working on the inside side, he turned around and finally noticed her presence.
Ji Jiazhen raised her hand, a smile playing on her lips, and greeted Fang Wei, but only her index and middle fingers moved.
You should know the principle of "things shouldn't happen more than three times".
Fang Wei's tone remained indifferent as he spoke, and after finishing, he lowered his head to trim the excess branches and leaves on the sapling.
Ji Jiazhen reached out and pushed a rose bush that had grown outside the fence and was being held down by the railing back in. "I only know that where there's a will, there's a way."
"What kind of story do you want to tell me today?"
She walked to the courtyard gate and said, "Today we're not telling stories, we're talking business. You're guaranteed to make a profit."
Fang Wei's gaze fell on her. "Energy is also a cost. Why would I give up a leisurely life to spend my time on you?"
As if everything was paving the way for this statement, Ji Jiazhen's lips curled into a confident smile, giving Fang Wei an answer that was hard to refuse: "Because of Li Zhuorong."
After the last red carpet event, Li Zhuorong remained quiet for a while. Last month, she suddenly gained several endorsements and announced two movies. She is determined to make a comeback, and her backers are also exerting their influence, directly securing a high-end global endorsement deal.
Unfortunately, Ji Jiazhen also wanted that endorsement deal.
Unfortunately, based on the relationship between Meng Xu and Wen Qinsheng, and considering that Wen Siyu had previously said that Li Zhuorong's real background was Wen Qinsheng, Ji Jiazhen deduced that the person who was in bed with Wen Qinsheng when Meng Xu had a postpartum hemorrhage was probably Li Zhuorong.
She was certain that Fang Wei hated Wen Qinsheng, and she didn't believe that Fang Wei had no personal feelings towards Li Zhuorong. After all, after the incident, all of Meng Xu's business dealings were taken over by Li Zhuorong.
From the less than two-minute phone call yesterday to this second meeting today, Ji Jiazhen noticed that Fang Wei seemed uninterested in everything. Even when she was tending to the flowers and plants in the yard, the corners of her lips were unconsciously turned down.
She seemed uninterested in everything and indifferent to everyone, as if worldly concerns had nothing to do with her.
But she wasn't always like this.
There must be something that stirs her emotions, and that thing or person that makes her feel emotional is the key to success.
As expected, Fang Wei stopped what he was doing.
She straightened up, inserted the sharp end of the scissors diagonally into the soil, took a step, and faced Ji Jiazhen directly, her voice tinged with sarcasm: "Wen Siyu really tells you everything."
Ji Jiazhen also showed surprise at this question, but she exaggerated her surprise to an extreme degree, "You know about my relationship with him?"
Fang Wei did not answer, but instead put his thumb into the pocket in front of his floral apron, turned half of his shoulder to the side, and looked up at the second floor.
"Get down here."
Ji Jiazhen looked in that direction and saw a person lying on the second-floor balcony.
A composed man, watching her intently, was Wen Siyu.
*
Ji Jiazhen entered Fang Wei's house as she wished, and bumped into Wen Siyu as she entered the living room. He was incredibly childish, deliberately blocking her way while Fang Wei was walking ahead and not paying attention. Ji Jiazhen's right shoulder brushed against his chest, she didn't stop or turn around, but she raised her hand and gave him the middle finger, and then heard laughter emanating from his chest.
The debt is endless.
But someone cleaned it up for her.
As soon as Wen Siyu stood still in the living room, he was hit on the side of the face by a coaster thrown by Fang Wei.
What followed was an angry shout: "You little brat, you really know what you're doing!"
Ji Jiazhen raised an eyebrow, unable to suppress the corners of her mouth, and with great tact, took a step to the side.
This is Fang Wei's true character.
She said that someone who is a force to be reckoned with in the industry, and who has been publicly described by multiple media outlets as a fiery-tempered smiling tiger, cannot be easily smoothed out by time and become peaceful and indifferent to worldly affairs.
Wen Siyu picked up the coaster that had fallen on the carpet and said to Fang Wei, "Auntie, at least give me some face."
Another green apple hit him on the shoulder.
"You didn't leave me any clues at all!"
Ji Jiazhen sat down on the sofa without any hesitation, watching with a smile as Wen Siyu was scolded.
When Fang Wei scolded him, Wen Siyu could only listen. He even shamelessly sat down next to Ji Jiazhen, poured her a cup of flower tea, and handed it to her attentively.
Fang Weiquan saw this and glared at him with a look of disappointment. He walked over here and pointed behind him, saying, "Go and stay over there."
Wen Siyu refused to move an inch. "You talk, I'll shut up. I won't bother you."
"Consciously avoid things that side with outsiders."
He said, "Auntie, you're wrong. There are only left and right here, not inside and outside."
Ji Jiazhen could tell that Fang Wei was about to get angry again. She put the untouched cup of flower tea on the table, glanced at him, and Wen Siyu understood the meaning in her eyes. After a couple of seconds of silence, he said, "Okay," stood up, and walked towards the dining room. Halfway there, he turned back and said to Fang Wei, "Try to control your temper. You've only scared me. She didn't do anything to you."
Once all the bystanders had retreated to the outside of the area, Ji Jiazhen began to discuss "business" with Fang Wei.
“Since you know about my relationship with him, you must have investigated my identity and background. You have the ability to make a fortune by promoting anyone, but I know you are not short of money and do not value money, so I will not tell you what kind of commercial value I can create for you. I will only talk about the aspects that are beneficial to you. The resources that Li Zhuorong inherited from Teacher Meng are also your hard work. You negotiated them one by one. Only you know how much you drank and how many people you offended. Why should Wen Qinsheng hand over your efforts? I am willing to be the knife in your hand to help you remove those thorns in your side.”
Wen Siyu's voice came from the restaurant: "Auntie, this deal is negotiable."
"Shut your mouth!" Fang Wei glared at him, then turned to Ji Jiazhen. "You keep bringing up Li Zhuorong. Are you trying to help me, or do you have a grudge against her and want to use her to do your dirty work?"
“I have no reason to hide it from you. Li Zhuorong and I do have some past grievances, but it’s not to the point of ‘killing’. I took a role from her, and now she’s competing with me for an endorsement. I want it, but she has a better chance of winning. But it’s just an endorsement, and it’s not something I absolutely need. If I don’t get it, it doesn’t matter to me. It’s not worth making a huge grudge against Li Zhuorong over an endorsement.”
Fang Wei put a pillow behind his back, leaned back a bit, crossed his arms, raised his chin, exuding a strong aura and a sufficiently intimidating gaze. "I have no need to step back into this bloody circle for her sake. I've never wanted to deal with her."
It was the man behind her.
Ji Jiazhen took a sip of her flower tea, smiled, and put the cup down: "But it's been over twenty years, haven't you been at your wits' end? Otherwise, you wouldn't be in Paris now. You don't want to deal with Li Zhuorong, but Li Zhuorong is indeed a good entry point."
Fang Wei frowned, a hint of doubt and confusion in his eyes.
Wen Siyu then interjected, "Auntie, there's something I forgot to tell you. Li Zhuorong and Wen Qinsheng have been having an affair all these years."
Fang Wei was clearly unaware of this matter. She looked at Wen Siyu in the restaurant and asked him, "Why are you only telling me now?"
Wen Siyu took a palm-sized green apple from the fruit plate, took a bite, walked over, and leaned against the cabinet opposite them. "I thought they had rekindled their old flame, but I found out yesterday that they've been secretly seeing each other all along."
Ji Jiazhen continued to look directly at Fang Wei, her smile gaining even more confidence as she awaited her reply.
She had long heard of Qin Sheng's womanizing ways, but for someone who could build his own business empire, profit far outweighed romantic feelings. To him, love was merely a means to make money; everyone was just one of his tools.
Meng Xu is, and so is Li Zhuorong.
The latter must have a deep entanglement of interests with him, a relationship that goes far beyond physical and emotional matters, and even influences his progress; otherwise, Li Zhuorong would not have stayed by his side for twenty years.
There are definitely gray areas in Wen Qinsheng's business empire, and Li Zhuorong must know some of his unknown secrets.
Therefore, Wen Qinsheng's breakthrough point lies in Li Zhuorong.
Ji Jiazhen said calmly, "I've dealt with Li Zhuorong before, and at least for you and me, she's not a smart woman."
Fang Wei suddenly laughed and asked her in return, "Like you said, she's not a smart woman, so I can handle her on my own. What's the point of dragging you into this arena?"
The question returns to the original one: how to persuade Fang Wei to be her agent.
Ji Jiazhen leaned forward, resting her chin on her hand as she looked at Fang Wei, her voice firm: "I will be a handy knife, and also a sharp sword. I can help you take back everything that belongs to Teacher Meng Xu from Li Zhuorong. In this circle, only I am qualified to inherit those things."
She added, “You said you didn’t want to step into this industry anymore because there’s no one in it you care about. But I also read a book that included an interview with you where you said that becoming a top agent in the country and even the world is your dream. I’m willing to be the most solid bridge on your path to realizing your dream.”
That's the art of language. They all knew that no matter the final outcome, Ji Jiazhen would be the biggest beneficiary. But Ji Jiazhen's words humbled her stance, implying that she was aiming to contribute, as if her purpose was to help Fang Wei rather than herself, which sounded more reassuring.
Ji Jiazhen looked at Fang Wei, and Wen Siyu also looked at Fang Wei. The atmosphere suddenly became quiet, with only the clicking of the grandfather clock's hands.
Fang Wei stared into Ji Jiazhen's eyes, unable to discern his thoughts. After a long while, he chuckled.
"Little girl, confidence is a good thing."
The tone didn't sound like a compliment, and Ji Jiazhen's fingers, which were resting on her lap, suddenly tightened. Wen Siyu noticed the instant tension in her body and was afraid that she would leave dejected today and would no longer be able to stand calmly to the side.
At this turbulent poker table, two players remained silent and observed, while he, an observer, was swayed by emotions and wagered all his remaining chips.
"Auntie, she has the right to be confident."
He was speaking, but neither of them turned to look at him; they remained staring at each other, locked in a silent struggle.
Wen Siyu looked at Ji Jiazhen's profile and said to Fang Wei, "Haven't you always wanted to know something? I'll tell you. The car accident I had three years ago was for her. When you helped her, you were saving me."
Fang Wei's gaze remained unwavering, while Ji Jiazhen turned her head, raising an eyebrow at him with a look that read, "Oh? Is that so?" and "Oh, it has something to do with me?"
"Stay confident, get ready, I'm going back to China next week."
Fang Wei uttered those words the instant she turned her head, giving her no time to react. Ji Jiazhen slowly turned back, her mind blank for five seconds before she belatedly realized what he meant.
Fang Wei agreed.
Fang Wei is going to become her agent.
Fang Wei glanced at Wen Siyu and snorted coldly, "You just wait, I'll settle the score with you for the car accident when we get back to China."
Ji Jiazhen's palm, which had been clenched into a fist and was sweating, finally opened up, and the nerves in the back of his neck gradually relaxed.
Then, she tilted her head and looked at Wen Siyu a second time, scrutinizing him from head to toe.
His eyes seemed to say six words: You're quite interesting.
Wen Siyu straightened up, realizing that something was wrong; something really wasn't right.
So his aunt had already been persuaded and didn't intend to refuse.
So, not only did he increase his bets on what was already a sure thing, but he also revealed his hand to Ji Jiazhen.
I've been tricked.
Hold.
*
Having successfully completed her mission in Paris, much faster than she had anticipated, Ji Jiazhen felt incredibly comfortable. When she left Fang Wei's house, her steps were lighter as she reached into her bag for cigarettes and picked out the purple one from the pack.
She only smokes this color of cigarette when she's really in a good mood.
She wasn't in a hurry to leave, so she stood by the car and smoked. Before lighting the cigarette, she opened the window and leaned against the door, resting her elbows on the windowsill, enjoying the breeze and sunshine.
But his eyes were fixed on Fang Wei's front door.
A short while later, she saw Wen Siyu come out from inside. He keenly caught her location and then walked towards her.
She finished her cigarette, stubbed it out, flicked the end, and the cigarette holder landed neatly in the trash can.
Open the door, get in, slam the door shut, and start the car.
She didn't give Wen Siyu a single glance during the whole process, but Wen Siyu wasn't going to let her go so easily.
As the car turned two streets and waited at the traffic light, her gaze casually fell on the road to her left. In the blink of an eye, a black car suddenly appeared out of nowhere on that empty road, and the person in the driver's seat was clearly the one she had just left behind.
A chase ensued.
Wen Siyu was on a road where he had to wait for one more red light than her, giving her the opportunity to create some distance between them. But he knew the roads in this area better than she did; Wen Siyu couldn't catch up with her, but he also wouldn't lose her.
After driving for about twenty minutes, Wen Siyu drove into the parking lot of a club. He slowed down to look for a parking space and spotted Ji Jiazhen's car, which was parked quietly there and no one was in it.
He parked his car next to it and walked into the club.
It was only noon, but the atmosphere inside the club was already lively. There were security guards at the entrance, but they weren't checking IDs; they were checking wristbands, suggesting it was a private event.
He didn't have the bracelet, but he still followed the two people inside. The security guard glanced at his face and actually let him in.
Most of the attendees were young people, with men making up 65% of the group. The majority were white, but there were also quite a few Asian faces.
Intuition told Wen Siyu to head towards the dance floor.
He walked through the dancing men and women, looking down to unlock his phone as he went. With a tap of his thumb, Ji Jiazhen's name appeared at the top of the screen.
I turned sideways and passed between the two men, and the space suddenly opened up.
He subconsciously looked up, and the scene before him made his hand holding the phone freeze in mid-air before falling to his side. His dark eyes stared ahead, a clash of indifference and turmoil in them.
At the climax of the music, in the very center of the dance floor, enveloped in purple lights and a thin layer of smoke.
Chi Chia-chen is kissing someone passionately.
