Chapter 5 Violet: "Come and woo me quickly."
The night wind howled, the engine roared, and then it started to rain, the raindrops gleaming coldly as they cut against the glass.
Wen Siyu wasn't driving fast; he was driving his sports car like he was taking a leisurely stroll.
Ji Jiazhen rested his elbow on the car window, propping his head up, and lazily looked at the empty road, quite satisfied with the car's speed.
She is a person who values her life very much. After all, she is worth a lot of money, and she refuses to do any high-risk or exciting activities. Skydiving, skiing, and racing are all on her blacklist.
The car stopped at a red light.
Ji Jiazhen turned her head to look. Wen Siyu's profile was sharp and his bone structure was extremely superior. She lowered her eyes to look at his Adam's apple.
A quote I'd once read suddenly popped into my head: "Men with prominent Adam's apples and noses are all good-looking."
Wen Siyu has achieved all of them.
She didn't remember those trivial things, so she had long forgotten what Fang Chengmu had said. Now, as if making conversation, she asked, "How old are you?"
Wen Siyu glanced at her and said, "I haven't measured it."
There was at least a five-second silence after those words were spoken.
Ji Jiazhen's shoulders trembled, and he muttered "Damn," pressing his index finger knuckle against his chin as he laughed uncontrollably.
Her body was hot from laughing, and her hair, which was tied up at the back of her head, was loose and a little uncomfortable on her neck. She tugged at it and simply let her hair down, still laughing.
Wen Siyu steered the wheel with one hand, the veins on the back of his hand extending to his forearm, the lines exceptionally sexy. After she finished laughing, he said, "Twenty-two."
Ji Jiazhen swept all her hair to one side and asked him, "What are you thinking about?"
Wen Siyu's reply was ambiguous: "To fish, you must first cast the bait."
"Are you fishing or am I?"
"It makes no difference."
That's interesting.
What do you mean by "no difference"?
"The bait will eventually be taken into the fish's mouth."
As he said this, the corners of his lips curled up, his face radiating confidence.
Ji Jiazhen didn't reply, but looked out the window. Wen Siyu had brought her to Hengrui No. 1, a high-rise apartment in a good location, which was extremely expensive.
As she got out of the car, she saw a Bugatti parked in the next parking space. She glanced at it a couple more times, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Cool."
Wen Siyu turned around upon hearing the sound, but did not speak.
The view from the 27th floor is superb, offering a panoramic view of the river, with cruise ships floating on the water and dazzling neon lights on the opposite bank.
The house's decor reflects the owner's taste, though the black and gray tones make it feel a bit cold. Ji Jiazhen quite liked the large wine cabinet that covered an entire wall and the separate island counter, which made her understand why Wen Siyu had brought her here.
She walked into the island counter as if she knew it well, took a glass from the waist-high cabinet, and asked Wen Siyu with a sidelong glance, "Can I use all the wines in the cabinet?"
"Anything in this room will do." He raised his chin and pointed downwards, "That's the refrigerator, and next to it is the freezer with ice."
Ji Jiazhen glanced at it briefly. To be honest, Wen Siyu really lived a sophisticated life. She had been to at least eighty or a hundred bars, but none of them had as many drinks as his, and the quality was far inferior.
Sure enough, money makes you awesome.
Wen Siyu wasn't around when she was mixing drinks; she didn't know what he was doing in the room, but she didn't care. She focused on mixing her drinks, and in the middle of it, she went to the kitchen and picked up an egg and a bottle of pepper.
When Wen Siyu came out, she had already finished mixing the ingredients and placed two mint leaves on the ice cubes as a garnish with great interest.
He sat down on the high stool opposite her, and Ji Jiazhen leaned on the table with her arms propped up, gesturing to him with her eyes, "Try it."
Wen Siyu drank it without thinking. The moment the wine entered his mouth, bitterness and spiciness assaulted his taste buds. This glass of wine had completely lost its alcohol taste; it was an indescribable, strange flavor, yet it was also heavy and pungent. He frowned as he looked at the triumphant smile on Ji Jiazhen's face.
Wen Siyu's reaction was exactly what she expected. She had mixed this drink many times and given it to many men, and his reaction was the least unusual one. Most of them would gag.
Of course she knew how awful this drink was—it was beyond her liking. She would be very impressed with anyone who could drink a second sip without spitting it out after the first.
In plain terms, she's willing to sleep with him.
"Is it good?"
She smiled like a fox, the kind of cunning one.
But the other party was Wen Siyu.
The enigmatic Wen Siyu.
The smile on her face faltered slightly the next second, because Wen Siyu tilted his head back and finished the whole glass of wine, his brows still furrowed, but he said in a hoarse voice, "It's delicious."
Ji Jiazhen stared at him, her expression unreadable, unable to fathom Wen Siyu's thoughts. She propped her chin up with her hand, tilted her head, and asked him, "Do you know what this drink is called?"
Wen Siyu casually picked up a leftover green grape and put it in his mouth to dilute the bitterness. "What?"
She straightened up, and although she was shorter than Wen Siyu, her gaze was somewhat condescending. Her chin was raised, and her voice and words were alluring.
"lover."
The invigorating bitterness and pungent spiciness, the choking sensation upon entry and the burning sensation upon swallowing—nothing could surpass the stimulation and passion brought by a lover.
Lovers who can't be seen in public are the most alluring.
Wen Siyu chuckled, "Which one am I?"
Ji Jiazhen shook her head. "You're not qualified."
She picked up the cigarettes Wen Siyu had placed on the edge of the island counter, pressed a button, and the cigarette pack popped open automatically. The McIntosh packaging was as cool as he was.
Wen Siyu kindly lit the fire for her; sparks flickered and smoke dissipated.
"You need to provide a standard."
A cigarette dangled between her fingers as she tilted her head and exhaled smoke. "Only those I've slept with count as lovers."
Wen Siyu narrowed his eyes slightly, realizing that she had more to say.
"To be honest, I am indeed a little interested in you now, but I don't recommend that you keep seducing me, because I only sleep with the same man once. The moment you wake up in my bed, we have to say goodbye."
Wen Siyu lowered his head and smiled, "Don't be too definitive."
"You can give it a try."
Their eyes met, and flames burned in their pupils, ready to erupt at any moment.
Ji Jiazhen stubbed out the cigarette, looked away first, and started stirring the ice cubes with a bar spoon.
"Since we've come this far, let's be more frank. I approached you because of your connections, your status, and to put it bluntly, I was after your money. And what about you? What did you want from me when you watched my video the other day?"
The conversation has finally steered to this point, and Wen Siyu is certain that she sent him the WeChat message today precisely for this answer.
He is very honest.
"You resemble someone very much."
A hint of mockery flashed in her eyes. "Does Young Master Wen have a white moonlight in his heart?"
Wen Siyu directly said the name: "Meng Xu".
Ji Jiazhen smiled.
She knew that name very well; it was her idol.
More than one person has said that she resembles Meng Xu; in fact, many people in the industry say that she is like Meng Xu.
But industry insiders are analyzing their respective paths, and she's very curious about what Wen Siyu is referring to.
"You also have a hobby of following celebrities?"
Wen Siyu ignored the sarcasm in her words and said, "Yes, I'm a fan of hers."
"Tell me, where does it resemble it?"
"sound."
Ji Jiazhen suddenly cleared his throat and said, "That night in Vancouver, he held me and whispered in my ear, asking me what I was thinking. I asked him if he still remembered the wood carving I gave him on the first day of summer in our senior year of high school."
Three seconds after he finished speaking, Wen Siyu continued, "But he said he'd never seen a wood carving before."
This is a line from Meng Xu's film "The End of the Dream," which was her least successful film and received the most negative reviews. Meng Xu wasn't famous when the film was released. However, it's Ji Jiazhen's favorite film because the story is realistic enough, the portrayal of human nature is comprehensive enough, and Meng Xu's performance is excellent.
Unfortunately, Meng Xu has been retired from acting for many years.
Wen Siyu said, "That's the sentence."
The way she read this line was about 80% like Meng Xu's; the ending notes and the slight hoarseness were just right, and the degree of sorrow and self-mockery was just right.
She knew it herself, otherwise she wouldn't have recited that sentence.
“A few years ago, my voice was even more similar.”
Her voice when she was seventeen or eighteen was truly very similar to Meng Xu's when she was young. She was discovered by her first agency because a video of her performance in a play during her school's anniversary celebration was posted online and became a minor hit. The reason for her popularity was that her voice sounded like Meng Xu's.
Wen Siyu said it was a pity he couldn't hear him, but there was no trace of regret on his face.
"Just because my voice sounds like hers?"
"Is the reason 'you find it novel and interesting' satisfactory?"
Ji Jiazhen shrugged, letting him say whatever he wanted. In any case, she could get more from Wen Siyu than he could take away.
"It's not over yet."
As he finished speaking, he took two items out of his pocket and placed them on the table.
A crisp sound.
Ji Jiazhen moved her hand away and saw two keys.
One is obviously a car, the other...
I don't know.
"What's the meaning?"
"Since you're so honest, I have to show some sincerity in return."
He reached out, his index and middle fingers together, and pushed the car keys in front of her.
"The keys to that Bugatti are yours."
Ji Jiazhen's eyes lit up when he thought of the car in the parking lot.
She doesn't actually like driving and rarely does, but not liking it and not having it are two different things. Having a car worth tens of millions sitting in the garage collecting dust is enough to show off.
"Given away for free?"
"Is it enough to please you?"
That's more than enough.
I've never been so happy in my life.
He then pushed another key and placed it next to her.
"The spare key to this house is yours now. I've reset the door lock code; you can change it to whatever you want."
Pies kept raining down on him, but Ji Jiazhen wasn't stunned. Her mind was clear. She crossed her arms, squinted at him, and clicked her tongue twice. "Something's not right with you."
This move was so blatantly foolish; his parents will scold him endlessly for being such a spendthrift.
“I know you’ve been renting hotels all these years since you debuted, but a hotel is still a hotel, it’s definitely not as comfortable as home. Ditch all those hotels and move here.”
These words sounded like a double entendre, and Ji Jiazhen wondered to himself whether he was referring to the hotel or the people.
She has indeed been living in hotels all these years. Due to work, she is either filming on set or traveling all over the world for promotional events. She had the idea of buying a house, but she nipped it in the bud the moment she thought about it. How many times could she stay in a house if she bought one?
She's incredibly popular and has a packed schedule, working non-stop all year round, so buying a house isn't necessary for her.
"I'm quite comfortable staying in the hotel."
"Whether it's good or not, you'll only know after comparing."
Ji Jiazhen leaned forward and said to him at close range, "You seem quite eager."
Wen Siyu had a roguish look on his face, and his smile was both wicked and seductive.
"Like you said, you're after my money. I gave you these two things not for any other reason than to let you know that I have plenty of money. So, cut off all your relationships and hurry up and start dating me."
The last sentence, delivered in a breathy tone, coupled with his laughter, was incredibly frivolous.
After staring at each other for a while, Ji Jiazhen stood back, reached forward, and the two keys landed in her palm.
"Such sincerity, wouldn't it be disrespectful to refuse?"
Wen Siyu smiled as he watched her act innocent despite having gotten the better deal.
Ji Jiazhen was quite adept at changing her expression. Before she had even warmed the key, she had already adopted the attitude of the owner. She walked out from behind the island counter and immediately told people to leave: "Alright, it's quite late. If you want to rest, hurry up and get out of my house."
Wen Siyu stood up, took two steps back, and locked his gaze on her face.
Ji Jiazhen followed him, and suddenly, on a whim, asked, "If you give me the house, where will you live?"
Wen Siyu finally heard these words. He put his hand on the doorknob and leaned against the door, but didn't move. He pointed up with his other hand: "Your upstairs. So you better keep your word. Keep the flowers and plants clean and don't bring back any people you shouldn't. I'm listening."
She said something was wrong with him, and it turned out he was waiting for her here.
Ji Jiazhen rolled her eyes at him and said, "Get lost."
The door opened, and Wen Siyu went out. Just as she was about to close it, he stopped her with his hand. He leaned in close, his forehead almost touching hers, the distance was so close it was unfair.
There's something I forgot to say.
"..."
"Make room for your husband, your lover is about to take your place."
