Chapter 52 Butterfly's Bed Was Climbed By by a Damp Male Ghost...
Her body had been through a lot lately, with too many things happening during the day. Ji Jiazhen was used to staying in the same room, so the sudden change of bed made it difficult for her to sleep soundly, with nightmares coming one after another.
She knew she was dreaming, and realized it was a nightmare, but she just couldn't wake up. Her limbs were weak, and she felt like she was nailed to the bed, unable to move.
Gradually, she herself couldn't tell whether she was dreaming or really experiencing sleep paralysis.
In her dream, a black door, large enough to swallow her whole, blocked her path. She heard the sound of a lock clicking, but the sound seemed to come from a distant sky, unlike the door before her.
The black door loomed closer to her, baring its fangs and claws as it lunged at her. Her legs felt like lead, and she couldn't lift them no matter what she did. She could only watch helplessly as her vision was gradually filled with blackness.
Just as she thought she was about to be engulfed by darkness, the door suddenly opened, and in the twisted door frame stood Wen Siyu, covered in blood, head bowed, back hunched, as if his spine had been broken, barely clinging to life.
Ji Jiazhen wanted to call out to him, but the sound was stuck in her throat, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't make a sound.
"Wen Siyu!"
Her wrists felt as if they were bound by something, creating an extra layer of sensation that was difficult to break free from.
"Wen Siyu!"
That sensation spread throughout her body, her waist, her back, so tight she felt like she was suffocating.
"Wen Siyu!"
These desperate cries shattered all the illusions in the dream, and the world before his eyes gradually cracked, breaking into pieces of glass, each piece reflecting Wen Siyu's face.
Ji Jiazhen suddenly opened her eyes, her back covered in cold sweat, breathing heavily, the shock still lingering in her heart, and she was still shaken.
Soon, she realized something was wrong.
The sensation of my wrists being bound was real, and it was warm.
It wasn't a rope, it was a hand.
In the darkness, there was another breathing sound.
She screamed, forcefully pulled her hand away, kicked wildly, and huddled at the head of the bed, unable to find the light switch.
"I."
The familiar voice startled her, and the next second, a hand covered her eyes.
Snap.
The lights are on.
Light streamed through his fingers, and Ji Jiazhen lifted his eyelids, squinting at the scene before him.
The hand withdrew only after she adjusted to the light. The blanket was wrapped around her, but she was still in shock, or perhaps she had just been angered again. Her chest heaved violently, and then she threw off the blanket and kicked the person in front of her.
Are you crazy?! This is my room!
"Why don't you stay in his room? You've already slept there for one night, why are you still being so formal? Shouldn't lovers who are finally together be reluctant to part?"
Ji Jiazhen was utterly terrified. His heart was pounding, and his mind was completely blank. He kept thinking, "Why is he here?" while savoring the sarcastic jealousy in his words.
Unable to find a retort, she vented all her anger and fear by punching and kicking Wen Siyu.
Wen Siyu grabbed her ankle and pulled her forward, but she kicked his hand with her other foot.
"What are you doing!"
He didn't speak, so she kept kicking. One kick went astray and landed squarely on his chest, making him groan in pain. She didn't soften and kept kicking, and he didn't let go, just taking the pain.
She kicked him for a while until she got tired, then kicked him hard on the shoulder and collapsed onto the bed, her hair sticking to her cheeks, her whole body disheveled.
Wen Siyu looked down at her, placed his palm on her chest, and felt her heart beating.
Powerful and fast.
Ji Jiazhen slapped him, leaving a scratch on his forearm.
"Don't you dare lay a hand on me!"
He remained motionless, his hands still resting there, and only spoke after a long while:
"Ji Jiazhen, you're so thoughtful."
He always called her by her full name, and this time was no exception. However, when he said "Ji Jia," his voice was too hoarse, and the sound got stuck in his throat. When it reached her ears, all that was left was "Zhen."
Duan Qiyin liked to shout like that, and she hated hearing him shout like that the most. It was fake and hypocritical.
But when Wen Siyu called out, she realized he was being sincere.
It was a hurt tone, a question tinged with self-mockery and resentment.
Ji Jiazhen's arrogance was extinguished after hearing that voice. She knew that from Wen Siyu's perspective, her change of heart was indeed sudden, but she couldn't explain it and didn't want to. To make someone give up, you have to be ruthless first.
"Didn't you feel it? Not only do you have a heart, but you also have a heartbeat, a heartbeat that beats for someone else. Isn't it fast?"
As for who the "others" she was referring to were, it goes without saying.
Wen Siyu's expression remained unchanged. He had long known what kind of person she was and that her mouth would only utter hurtful words, but when he actually heard them, he still felt a real pain.
"Do you remember what you just dreamed about? Do you know what you did in your dream?"
Ji Jiazhen turned her head away, subconsciously avoiding his gaze: "I don't remember."
Wen Siyu brushed aside her forearm that was across her face and stared into her eyes. "Let me help you remember. You called my name three times in your dream. Didn't you not love me? Why is it me in your dreams?"
She stopped him, saying, "That was a nightmare."
"Even erotic dreams are the same."
Ji Jiazhen tried to turn over, but Wen Siyu's hand remained on her chest, pressing down on her shoulder whenever she moved. She wanted to get angry; she knew that when she realized she was in the wrong with him, she would use anger to change the subject, using a harsh tone and domineering attitude to mask her inner insecurity.
"It's all just a dream! A dream doesn't mean anything! Before you question me, explain why you were in my room! If you can't explain it, go talk to the police!"
Wen Siyu brushed a strand of hair from the corner of her lips and asked, "Can't we just talk this out calmly?"
Ji Jiazhen looked down at his hand. "Talk calmly? Like this, putting your hand on my chest and acting like a pervert? Do you remember what you asked during the day? What did I say during the day? Breaking into your sister-in-law's room in the middle of the night, you should think about how to talk to your brother first!"
After she finished speaking, she started looking for her phone, as if she really wanted to call Duan Qiyin.
Wen Siyu withdrew his hand and instead grasped her knees, placing her legs on his sides and pulling her down while pinching her waist. With his other hand, he deftly unlocked his phone, dialed Duan Qiyin's number without hesitation, and tossed the phone to her ear.
“I’m quite familiar with this kind of thing, and if you’re willing, I don’t mind a threesome.”
The ringing tone echoed in her ears, sending chills down her spine. The call might be answered at any moment, and she couldn't let her three days of meticulous planning go to waste tonight.
Ji Jiazhen grabbed the phone and hung up. She propped herself up and threw the phone away, which hit the full-length mirror and shattered instantly.
"You know he's the one who posted the video."
Wen Siyu's expression changed after hearing her words.
"You knew he posted the video?"
He knelt before her, the veins on the side of his neck bulging with suppressed emotion, his whole being like a silent snow-capped mountain under thunder and lightning, poised to avalanche at any moment.
The phone with the cracked screen on the ground suddenly rang. Duan Qiyin saw that the call had been dialed for three seconds and then hung up. Now it was calling back.
Wen Siyu ignored him and continued, "You knew he posted the video, yet you still chose him?"
Ji Jiazhen stiffened her neck and stared at him, her eyes full of stubbornness: "You gave me the choice, so why are you acting crazy now!"
Wen Siyu was furious and shouted back, "I gave you a choice because I never imagined you would choose him over me!"
"So now you know." She paused for two seconds before speaking, her tone completely different from before. "A day is enough for you to process this. I just chose him and not you."
Not satisfied with that, she repeated it again, using her full name: "Wen Siyu, I chose Duan Qiyin and not you!"
Wen Siyu's eyes were bloodshot with anger, his pupils were fogged up, and he stared intently at her, his lips pressed together, becoming tighter and tighter. She met his gaze without backing down.
In the deathly silence, the phone rang again. Duan Qiyin was sharp and alert enough to know that a call in the middle of the night was suspicious, so this time, he called Ji Jiazhen.
Still, no one paid any attention.
After countless exchanges of glances, and after tears welled up in his eyes, Wen Siyu suddenly spoke:
"sister in law."
For a moment, Ji Jiazhen thought she was hallucinating.
He lowered his head, rested his chin on her forehead, and awkwardly held her hand, his fingers slipping between hers.
"Satisfied?"
She couldn't see his face, but suddenly felt a wetness on her forehead. Her expression showed unprecedented astonishment, and after a long while, she finally spoke: "Then don't do anything immoral."
Ji Jiazhen felt a spasmodic pain in her chest. She pushed Wen Siyu's shoulder hard, but he didn't move and held her tightly.
"Haven't we done enough?"
She looked up, trying to break free from his embrace: "I wasn't with him then."
"so what?"
Before she could answer, he pressed on, "So you're officially together with him now?"
"So you're going to turn back from your past relationship for him now?"
His hand on her shoulder trembled slightly. "Ji Jiazhen, you didn't say that before."
"What did I say before?"
The phone kept ringing; Duan Qiyin called a third time, and at the same time, there was a knock on the door. Wen Siyu and Ji Jiazhen stared at each other, their eyes bloodshot, and with a fierce determination, picked up their phones and answered.
Duan Qiyin's voice was icy, his tone completely that of a superior or elder: "Open the door."
Wen Siyu cursed into the phone, venting all his anger on Duan Qiyin.
"Shut your rotten mouth! Stand in the doorway and listen carefully!"
He lowered his head to catch his breath, his breathing trembling. He released Ji Jiazhen's shoulders and instead cupped her face in his hands, pleading with her in a devout manner, "To love you is to be tolerant, selfless, to share, and to let go. You taught me to love like this, so why does it mean nothing to him?"
Ji Jiazhen remained silent, gazing at him in silence.
Duan Qiyin seized the opportunity: "Only someone who doesn't love you would talk to you about these things."
"You, as a mistress, have no right to say that!"
Wen Siyu continued to say to Ji Jiazhen, "He is selfish, arrogant, outdated, gloomy, and old and faded! You're wasting your life if you spend even a second with him!"
What followed was not something Duan Qiyin could hear, so he quickly hung up the phone before Ji Jiazhen could even react. After seeing the phone being hung up, Duan Qiyin broke down and banged on the door.
"It's all my fault. I shouldn't have gone abroad without a word, I shouldn't have kept everything from you, even you..."
His voice choked with emotion, "Even if you really love him and want to be with him, please don't... leave me."
Ji Jiazhen never imagined that such words would come out of Wen Siyu's mouth.
Meng Xu was forced to abandon him on the day he was born. Fang Wei once abandoned him to Wen Qinsheng because of a knot in his heart. Wen Qinsheng was addicted to wine and women and only beat him.
Even Duan Lan, whom he once genuinely called his godmother, and his brother, whom he sincerely acknowledged, were all deceiving and using him.
And now, she's going to do the same thing as them: lie to him, use him, and then abandon him.
"Wen Siyu, you are so pitiful."
Ji Jiazhen pried his hands off, saying, "No one loves you, no one wants you, you're so pathetic."
"You look just like a dog right now, a homeless stray dog."
She barked twice defiantly, looking down at him and mocking him.
"Love is a one-way street, not a multiple-choice one. If I choose him, I won't want you anymore. If I love him, I won't love you anymore, understand?"
Her voice was soft, her expression indifferent, but each word was harsher than the last, each syllable like a knife stabbing into his heart, while she asked him if it hurt.
Wen Siyu said nothing, and couldn't say anything more. He left in silence, looking lost and dejected, like a walking corpse.
Ji Jiazhen wasn't much better off; once things had come to this point, she hadn't thought about the future.
There's no turning back.
There's no going back.

Author's Note: This chapter should end here; any extra details can be added here.
Ji Jiazhen didn't sleep a wink all night after that.
Fang Wei came to find her after daybreak. She knew nothing about the three of them, and didn't even know if Wen Siyu had come to see Ji Jiazhen. She even told Ji Jiazhen, "Wen Siyu is back."
Ji Jiazhen said she understood, and didn't show any more emotion in front of her.
Fang Wei said that the spare room key she left with her seems to have been lost.
Ji Jiazhen recalled Wen Siyu's dejected departure.
"It's not lost."
It was stolen by a male ghost.
