Madam Gu winked at her little darling, signaling her to wait a moment and not to rush.
“Oh, then An'an, speak very softly.”
Little Anman immediately understood what Old Madam Gu meant, covered her mouth with her two chubby little hands, and said in a very soft voice.
This little guy is so adorable, it made Old Madam Gu's heart itch. She stroked Xiao Anman's little head and said, "Okay, we'll all keep our voices down."
An'an nodded her little head, cooperating perfectly.
"Ouch!"
Just as Song Shuangyu was talking to the old lady, an old man with a cane slipped and fell as he passed by.
"Are you alright, Grandpa?"
Upon seeing this, Song Shuangyu quickly went forward to help.
The old man looked at Song Shuangyu's hand, groaned a few times in pain, and then his expression improved slightly.
“Old Li, you really are something. The caregiver has told you so many times not to go out and walk around unnecessarily. Your legs aren’t very strong. Aren’t you just making trouble for yourself?”
Most of the elderly people in the nursing home had met before. The old lady who was talking to Song Shuangyu happened to know the old man. They seemed to know each other well, so they were old acquaintances.
The old man was a stern-looking old man with a cold expression, who didn't seem very approachable, but he didn't forget to thank Song Shuangyu after she helped him up.
"Grandpa, let me call the doctor for you."
"No need, I'm fine."
"Are you really alright? You're so old, you shouldn't be so reckless."
The old lady said this while brushing dust off Grandpa Li's clothes.
"You're so disobedient. If you stayed indoors, there wouldn't be so many problems."
Grandpa Li remained silent, as if all the elderly people here would fall silent when faced with such concern.
After a while, Song Shuangyu heard Grandpa Li say, "I'm a living person, half of my body is in the ground, but I'm not dead."
The fact that he is still alive and not dead is a very cruel thing for Grandpa Li now.
Staying indoors, one cannot understand that there are 24 hours in a day. What makes a person a person is that they have thoughts and are a living being.
Grandpa Li couldn't bear to stay in one place like a useless person, so even though his legs were really inconvenient to walk, he was unwilling to just stay there in the empty house, hoping that no one would come to visit him.
Grandpa Li's words made the old lady feel a little sad.
They're all old folks; everyone knows each other.
So he didn't say anything more.
"It's good that Grandpa is alright. Let's sit here and enjoy the sun. Oh, I just remembered I brought you some gifts. Grandpa and Grandma, please sit here and wait for me. I'll be right back."
Seeing how sad the old man was, Song Shuangyu wanted to cheer him up, so she remembered that she still had a box of gifts in her car that she hadn't taken out yet.
Grandpa and Grandma sat down on the bench.
Xiao Anman held Old Madam Gu's hand and asked, "Great-Grandma, shall we go sunbathe too?"
Isn't it true that we can't let Aunt Shuangshuang see this?
"Yes, Great-Grandma is a little cold and wants to bask in the sun."
It's heartbreaking to see someone like you, even though Madam Gu has no worries about food and clothing.
“Then An’an will go with you.”
"Yes, it'll be warmer if An'an stays with me."
