Chapter 10
The situation inside the building was the same as usual, except that everyone inside had been replaced by Shi Yunzhou's men, who had disguised themselves as prostitutes and their clients.
The carefree young master Li remained oblivious to anything amiss, continuing his usual routine of eating, drinking, and flirting with the beautiful women around him. Zhou Xuanzhi sighed at the sight; no wonder his junior brother wanted him dead.
Shi Yunzhou naturally couldn't appear in the open. Someone saw Zhou Xuanzhi leading a group of people in, so they led them into a secluded room, where they could observe everything that happened inside the building.
"I'm all set, how's your situation?" Zhou Xuanzhi asked.
"Same, no problem at all."
Zhou Xuanzhi nodded: "That's good, let's get started now!"
The disciples of Tianyu Mountain were each lying in ambush at their respective positions. Some of them were dressed as customers of prostitutes, while others were dressed as maids in brothels. In short, the scene was "very beautiful." Fortunately, there were no outsiders here. They each had "incriminating evidence" against each other, and it was believed that no one would be willing to step forward and reveal the "role-playing" incident, because the fate of anyone who came forward to publicize what these people were like today would only be worse.
Looking at this scene, Shi Yunzhou couldn't help but laugh. The people who had been enjoying themselves here before were the very people his master was supposed to protect. They hadn't changed at all, and had even angered the people of the Demon Realm. It really wasn't worth losing his life for these people.
But for some reason, the target hasn't shown up yet. Could it be a leak? They've made such a big fuss; the other side isn't stupid. However, Fang Xiashen should understand that today is his last chance. If he doesn't succeed today, he won't have another opportunity.
Shi Yunzhou calmed himself down and continued to wait.
People continued their act, and laughter filled the air. But the air seemed to have frozen. Even though it was all happening right before my eyes, for some reason, it felt so far away.
He expanded his perception range, but was stopped; he could only sense the situation within a few feet. Beyond that range, it was as if a barrier was blocking his view...
As for Zhou Xuanzhi, he saw that it was almost time, and logically, nothing unusual should happen today. He tried to talk to the person next to him, but the other person seemed oblivious to his presence, let alone hearing his voice.
"..." Could it be that Fang Xiashen and Huanmo came together?
Oh no, Young Master Li is still in their hands.
Lin Jichen's life on the roof wasn't as idyllic as everyone imagined. She was being bitten by mosquitoes so badly she was almost exasperated. She wondered how her fellow disciples were doing inside.
The streets had become eerily quiet at some point. Wait a minute... this kind of silence, where you can't hear or see anything, is itself an anomaly.
She stood up and saw someone walking towards her in the distance.
No fewer than a hundred people were rushing in this direction. Their behavior was unusual, and their eerie expressions were frightening. Even before they got close, Lin Jichen could smell the stench of decay emanating from them.
Fang Xiashen is clearly a demon lord from the demon realm, so how could she summon so many living corpses? She jumped off the building, wanting to warn the people inside, but the door and windows that allowed entry had mysteriously vanished...
The undead feed on human flesh and blood, move erratically, and possess extremely high combat power. If an ordinary human were to encounter them, the consequences would be unimaginable. No cultivator would allow them to roam freely in the streets.
Ignoring the unusual situation of the streets being deserted, Lin Jichen drew his sword and walked towards the group of zombies.
The situation inside the building wasn't much better. Zhou Xuanzhi tried several times and confirmed that he couldn't leave. He immediately summoned his flute and began to play. The flute music restored his gradually lost hearing, but he still couldn't break the barrier. Once he stopped, he would fall back into the state of having no hearing.
But Young Master Li is still outside. If he doesn't leave soon, this man might die.
Shi Yunzhou also started playing the flute, but his mindset was different from Zhou Xuanzhi's. The fact that he could create such a barrier meant that this person had some connection with the Illusion Demon. He wondered what connection Fang Xiashen had with the Illusion Demon, but none of that mattered anymore.
As for Young Master Li's situation, it was not even within his consideration.
The people of Tianyu Mountain are not stupid. They were all scattered. The moment they realized that this was a barrier set up by the Illusion Demon, some began to set up formations, some played their musical instruments like their fellow disciples, and others set up sword formations around themselves.
The barrier had no effect on Young Master Li. He watched as the cultivators living in his house suddenly appeared, some brandishing swords at the air, others walking outside, but they seemed to be blocked by an invisible force. However, they then spontaneously began to play music.
The scene was truly bizarre, but he wasn't stupid. He knew he couldn't stay here any longer and tried to leave, but his situation was the same as the cultivators inside the barrier; he was blocked by the power at the gate.
Just as he was about to try again, a woman suddenly appeared beside him. This woman was very beautiful and exuded a strong murderous aura.
Turning around and seeing the woman's face clearly, Young Master Li collapsed to the ground. What to do now? These cultivators were all barely able to protect themselves; how could he possibly get out alive?
"Does the young master still remember me? What are you afraid of?"
Young Master Li naturally dared not speak. He began to crawl toward Zhou Xuanzhi. Just as he was about to touch the hem of Zhou Xuanzhi's clothes, his hand was stepped on by a foot wearing beautiful embroidered shoes. Following the foot upwards, he saw the female demon.
"Young master, when you were with me before, you forbade me from looking for other people. How come you went looking for them yourself?" The woman's coquettish tone made the man's hair stand on end. If it were a girl in the building who spoke like that, his bones would go weak. But these words came from the female demon in front of him, which meant that he was not far from death.
"I have never offended you," Young Master Li growled, but then he thought for a moment, "You are not among my women!"
She burst into laughter upon hearing Young Master Li's words, but it wasn't genuine laughter; it was laced with anger. She pressed her foot down harder on Young Master Li's hand, until his fingertips turned a dark purple. If she stomped on his hand any longer, it would be ruined.
"If I had never existed, does that mean everyone else deserves to die? Does that mean they should be trampled under your feet and bullied at will?" The female demon released her foot, saving Young Master Li's hand. However, the next moment, the female demon reached out and pressed Young Master Li against the wall. She cast a spell from a distance, and Young Master Li was firmly pressed there, unable to move.
"Don't worry, I won't let you die. I've waited a thousand years, how could I let you die so easily? You must play with me a little longer." As he spoke, he increased the force.
The person on the wall was in no better shape. His whole body was squeezed, and his face turned bluish-purple. He swung his hand forward, knowing that he had been squeezed against the wall by magic, but the instinct for survival still made him struggle.
The disciples of Tianyu Mountain could now see each other, and a single glance was enough for them to begin their actions. While the female demon was still torturing Young Master Li, they began casting hand seals, and small arrays lit up within the various large and small barriers.
The female demon sensed something and turned around to see that the people of Tianyu Mountain had already placed the formation on the ground, their swords stuck in the center of the incantation, and instantly a brilliant light shone forth. It all happened so fast that the female demon hadn't even had time to react.
After the light faded, the small barrier that had separated the people disappeared, and they were gathered together by a large barrier.
The female demon showed no surprise at the situation, and sneered, "Tianyu Mountain is one of the four major sects, and it does have some ability. This formation was specifically set up for you all, so enjoy it!"
She looked at Young Master Li, who had fallen to the ground because of her momentary lapse in concentration, grabbed his hair, and made him look at the people trapped in the barrier. She said, word by word, "These people are barely able to protect themselves now. Don't hold out any hope."
She then looked at the people inside the barrier and said, "I have no intention of being enemies with Tianyu Mountain, but you should not push me too far."
She picked up Young Master Li and said, "He must die."
This barrier was incredibly sturdy. They had tried several more times and discovered that not only could they not break it, it could even absorb their spiritual energy. The greater their movements, the more spiritual energy was absorbed.
Zhou Xuanzhi looked at the female demon and couldn't come up with an effective solution for the time being. He felt his hand being touched and turned around to see Shi Yunzhou.
"The Phantom Demon should be nearby."
Zhou Xuanzhi also sensed something was amiss. For example, if this female demon was truly that powerful, why was she still wasting her breath talking to him? Why not just kill her? Besides, how could she not know what they had just done outside?
If that's really the case, then it's alright. Lin Jichen is still outside, and Senior Sister Ming is still at the Li family's house. There's still time to call for help.
The female demon and Young Master Li disappeared from everyone's sight with a wave of her hand.
It wasn't just Zhou Xuanzhi's group that was trapped; the situation throughout Yunzhou was dire. Suddenly, many evil spirits appeared in the dead of night. They wreaked havoc under the cover of darkness, and some people had already met untimely deaths.
The Li family was temporarily safe because of the array that had been set up, but the situation outside was not good. After much deliberation, Mingmo finally decided to leave most of his men to guard the area while he took a few others and went out.
The Li family discovered their young master was missing very late, and the patriarch was extremely anxious. He only breathed a sigh of relief when he heard that people had already been sent to search for him.
On the street, Mingmo was fighting with a few people. They weren't alone; they encountered many disciples from other sects. Some were stationed in Yunzhou City, some had rushed over after discovering the situation was amiss outside the city, and others were temporarily staying there.
In short, this not-so-large team played a significant role at this time.
"Should we send a message back?" One of Mingmo's junior brothers asked anxiously. "If it really is the Illusion Demon, the few of us would probably be throwing our lives away."
"The message has been sent back. Go and see if you can still contact Zhou Xuanzhi and the others."
"good."
Those who overheard the two's conversation realized something: "You're talking about phantom demons? What's going on?"
Knowing that there should be no hiding anything at this time, Mingmo said, "We came to Yunzhou City because several young men were killed by demons. Later, we found that this demon might be related to the Illusion Demon."
The ability to summon evil spirits or transform ordinary ghosts into evil spirits seems completely out of place for a female demon like Fang Xiashen; it could only be the work of a phantom demon.
"The barrier at sea has broken? How did the Illusion Demon escape from the Demon Realm?" No one knew the answer, and no one could answer him.
