Chapter 98

Chapter 98

He had been imprisoned ever since he was brought to the Demon Clan, and only today was he able to see the light of day again. The sunlight, hidden behind the clouds, was even a bit dazzling, and Zhou Xuanzhi turned his head and raised his hand to shield his eyes from the sunlight.

The jailer disliked the cultivator, and if it weren't for the Lord's orders to bring him before him, he truly wouldn't have wanted to get so close. The Lord seemed quite angry; this cultivator probably wouldn't see the sun rise tomorrow.

This was the first time Zhou Xuanzhi had ever seen Chonghua's sleeping quarters; it resembled the study rooms found in the immortal sects and aristocratic families. Before he could take another look, he was led into a dark room, and after walking around for a long time, they finally found a secret chamber.

In the secret chamber, Chonghua stood before a bed, while his junior brother was pinned to the ground, unable to move, by Chonghua's magic. He saw his junior brother still struggling desperately, the veins on his neck and forehead bulging, his eyes bloodshot with anger.

The jailer brought the man in and left without saying a word. Zhou Xuan stepped forward to help Shi Yunzhou up, only then realizing the difference in strength between himself and Chonghua; he couldn't move Shi Yunzhou an inch.

"How are you?" But Shi Yunzhou did not answer him. Blood flowed slowly from his nose and mouth and dripped onto the ground.

It seemed his and his junior brother's actions had been exposed. Before he could say anything more, he saw Chonghua sitting by the bed. He then noticed a woman lying on the bed, who appeared to be asleep.

Chonghua looked at the woman on the bed with affection, his eyes almost overflowing with love. He reached out to touch her face, but quickly withdrew his hand. He utterly loathed that cold, hard feeling.

Zhou Xuanzhi also saw the face clearly; it was his master. He didn't know how Chonghua had managed to get his master's body here, but his master wouldn't like lying here, much less being looked at like this by a demon.

He disregarded Shi Yunzhou, reached out and summoned the Remnant Sun Sword that his master had given him, and then thrust it straight at Chonghua.

Chonghua didn't even glance at him, he just waved his hand, and Zhou Xuanzhi felt an invisible pressure that made him unable to move an inch.

Chonghua looked at his fellow disciples with hatred on his face. He walked up to Shi Yunzhou, grabbed Shi Yunzhou by the neck, lifted him into the air, and said through gritted teeth, "If it weren't for you, how would she be lying here?"

Seeing that Chonghua seemed to have gone mad, Zhou Xuanzhi panicked. He was already the Demon Lord, how could he have fallen into demonic possession? But where did this overwhelming anger and hatred come from? His junior brother was almost strangled to death, and Zhou Xuanzhi couldn't care less about anything else. He struggled with all his might, trying to save his junior brother.

Chonghua sensed Zhou Xuanzhi's struggle and then went to check on him.

"As the senior disciple, you actually let your master die like this, you deserve to die too!" But he released his grip on Shi Yunzhou's hand.

Shi Yunzhou fell to the ground, and he immediately summoned the Remnant Sun Sword, piercing it directly into Chonghua's body. A large amount of spiritual energy instantly surged into his body.

Chonghua looked down at the Remnant Sun Sword, his face showing no sign of pain. He said, "This is her sword, I will not destroy it."

As soon as the words were spoken, demonic energy surged towards the two of them like a tidal wave, the pressure blasting them out of the secret chamber and causing them to fall into the secret passage. The two helped each other to their feet, their swords lying at their feet.

Chonghua stepped forward, the wounds inflicted by Shi Yunzhou's desperate thrusts seemingly having no effect on him. He stood before the two men, his usual composure restored. "Keeping you two alive is naturally useful. Use your lives to bring back your master!"

Upon hearing this, Shi Yunzhou fell into deep thought. Zhou Xuanzhi immediately stepped forward and cursed, "You're a madman! You've turned the world into this state, do you think my master will let you go when she returns? She'll kill you the moment she sees you!"

Chonghua laughed loudly, as if he had gone mad: "If your master can come back, it wouldn't matter if you killed me."

"You're really crazy." Zhou Xuanzhi shielded his junior brother behind him, looking at Chonghua with incomprehension. What could he gain from doing this? It wouldn't benefit him at all.

But the secret joy that welled up inside Zhou Xuanzhi upon his master's return made him feel ashamed. He had been willing to sacrifice half the lives of the world to bring his master back, yet he was actually feeling a secret joy? What a waste of his master's years of painstaking teaching!

“You are happy that your master has returned. Why don’t you… help me! Help me resurrect your master and bring him back.”

Chonghua's words swayed the two brothers, who reached out their hands and even considered taking that step. Zhou Xuanzhi suddenly came to his senses and pulled Shi Yunzhou back, an action that also brought his junior brother to his senses.

He looked at Chonghua firmly and said, "We will never forget our master's teachings, and your plan will not succeed!"

Chonghua said disappointedly, "It's a real failure that Shi Wanqing has taught such an ungrateful disciple as you! But I will help her correct it."

After listening to Chonghua talk for a while, Shi Yunzhou stepped forward and said, "Say less! Are you still trying to hold on? Your wound is still bleeding."

The hem of Chonghua's blue robe had been stained red with blood at some point. He glanced down at it and then laughed, "You, I still underestimated you."

The two brothers didn't understand what Chonghua meant. After exchanging a glance, they felt dizzy and collapsed to the ground before they could even speak.

Chonghua walked up to the two of them, looked down at them and said, "Your opinions are not important. As long as Shi Wanqing can come back, all the sacrifices will be worthwhile."

This also includes the demon race.

Lin Jichen arrived outside Yue Ze's tent and called his name twice, but received no response. So he went inside the tent, where everything was neatly arranged, but Yue Ze was nowhere to be seen.

The disciple who had been on guard all night looked very grim. "I really kept watch all night, and I didn't see him go out."

She was there last night and didn't sense Yue Ze leaving. She's panicking now. She originally wanted to keep a dangerous person in sight, but she overlooked her own strength. Now, this stronghold might be in danger.

Even though he was very anxious and nervous, Lin Jichen calmed himself down and comforted the disciple, saying, "It's alright, you go back and rest for a bit, I'll take care of things here."

The news reached his master, Mu Jin, at Tianyu Mountain. The sect leader was very busy lately and couldn't be expected to worry about everything.

However, she received no response for a long time after the message was sent back, which made Lin Jichen very anxious. Looking at the people in the stronghold who had resumed their normal lives, she felt sorry for them, having once again put them in danger.

The disciple felt extremely guilty seeing that Lin Jichen was still waiting for news. He went to Lin Jichen's side and said, "Senior Sister, one should take responsibility for one's own actions. It was my fault for not keeping an eye on people. Can I..." take responsibility? So many people, even if they died ten times, they could not atone for such a sin.

“You don’t need to act like this. I also bear some responsibility; I was the one who brought them in. And there’s still no news, so you don’t need to blame yourself too much.”

Lin Jichen was still discussing responsibilities with his junior brother at the stronghold, while Yue Ze had already arrived at the Qingxu Sect, where the sect leaders were holding a meeting. The disciples guarding the mountain gate saw Yue Ze coming up the mountain dressed as a demon and used hundreds of talismans to block his way.

"Who are you? Why are you trying to enter my Qingxu Sect?" The gatekeeper disciples would never let a demon in; the fact that they were still speaking politely was only because of the sect's instructions.

Yue Ze looked at the disciples, shook his head, and said with a smile, "Yue Ze of the Demon Clan requests an audience with Sect Leader Chu of your esteemed sect."

The name sounded familiar, but was a demon coming to the immortal sect looking for death? So, as soon as Yue Ze finished introducing himself, the disciples guarding the gate already had their longswords in hand, pointing them directly at Yue Ze.

Seeing this, Yue Ze wasn't angry. He counted the disciples guarding the area and there were exactly ten. He continued, "If you don't believe me, you can go and tell Sect Leader Chu. I'll wait here."

The leading disciple had just made some moves; the opponent's strength was indeed greater than the combined strength of the ten of them. If he truly harbored ill intentions, he wouldn't have been so polite to him. He gestured to the disciple beside him to inform the sect leader, while the remaining nine still held their longswords.

If his idea was too naive, then the remaining few people could still hold him off for a while, at least until the elders and sect leaders arrived.

The fact that their sect leader himself came out surprised the nine people present. They sheathed their swords and stood on both sides of the road, but still kept their eyes fixed on the demon named Yue Ze.

Because the sect leader's attitude towards him wasn't very friendly, he coldly said, "It's you? What brings you here?"

"At least let you know Chonghua's true thoughts." Yue Ze said as he stepped onto the stairs leading to Qingxu Sect.

But the barrier blocked his way. Yue Ze looked at the barrier and chuckled, "Is this how your sect treats its guests? You have to discuss such an important matter here?"

Sect Leader Chu simply watched him without making any move.

Yue Ze sighed and said, "I have now betrayed the Demon Clan, and Chonghua might send people to hunt me down."

Chu Shangyuan clenched his fist and then released it. He sighed helplessly, stepped aside to make way, and the barrier closed.

Yue Ze extended his hand: "Lead the way! I know you're talking about something."

Inside the main hall, everyone's eyes were on Yue Ze, who had just entered. Immortals and demons were now irreconcilable enemies, and everyone was curious as to why such a person would dare to step into the gates of the Qingxu Sect.

Yue Ze met everyone's hostile gazes without fear.

"So, how did you dare to come?" Sect Leader Chu asked.

Yue Ze, however, focused his gaze on Han Wenqing. He didn't care at all what others thought of him and asked directly, "Sect Leader Han, do you still remember your junior sister?"

This junior sister could only be Shi Wanqing. Thinking of her ill-fated relationship with Chonghua, Han Wenqing stepped forward and asked, "What does Clan Chief Yue mean by this?"

Was he here just to embarrass Tianyu Mountain? He wasn't the one who got involved in this messy affair; it was Chonghua. Han Wenqing showed no fear; he stepped forward and stood before the crowd.

"I'm not here to fight. I'm just here to say that Chonghua has already refined Shi Wanqing's physical body. The next step is to let her soul return to her body." Yue Ze said, "But this step is extremely dangerous. Chonghua is willing to sacrifice the lives of half the people in the world to bring Shi Wanqing back to life!"

"What did you say? Say it again?"

No one could believe what they were hearing. Who would have thought that Chonghua would be so crazy?

“No matter how many times I say it, it’s the same. From the moment Chonghua learned that Shi Wanqing’s spiritual palace was shattered, he started this plan. He originally wanted to repair Shi Wanqing’s broken spiritual palace. But Shi Wanqing died, and from that moment on, Chonghua went mad. Now he only wants to resurrect Shi Wanqing. You’re right, he’s a madman.”

"Half of the people also include those from the Immortal Sect and the Demon Clan," Yue Ze added slowly, not in a hurry, seeing the shocked expressions on everyone's faces.
