An unknown ghost cautiously poked its head out and approached Cheng Shuang. It pulled aside the heavy velvet curtain, but it was too light and was knocked away by the curtain. The ghost then fell headfirst into the air.
The ground beneath their feet resembled a sheer cliff, an insurmountable obstacle; a fall from which they would be shattered to pieces.
The unknown monster was clearly afraid, but it covered its mouth and didn't scream, thus avoiding attracting the attention of the mountain of flesh.
Cheng Shuang felt a sense of realization, reached out and grabbed the unknown ghost's collar, safely pulling the light creature back.
The little girl clenched her paws, feeling a great sense of accomplishment in front of the unknown ghosts and monsters, as if she had the illusion that she was incredibly strong and could shake mountains and rivers.
Are all ghosts this light?
No... the class monitor's body temperature was cool, and she was quite heavy when she pulled me along!
So is it just this one that's special?
Cheng Shuang glanced at the unknown ghost that was excitedly staring at her with its fluffy eyes, then pulled it back into the velvet cloth and asked in the dark, "What kind of ghost are you?"
The ghost rubbed his fingers together cautiously and replied, "Mirror Maiden."
The voice was too soft; the little girl only heard two words, "Mirror Maiden?"
"Glasses Girl." A pair of glasses suddenly appeared on that small face, and it repeated softly again, the reflective lenses especially noticeable in the darkness.
Cheng Shuang asked curiously, "Would you eat people?"
The girl with glasses shook her head hastily and stammered, "I don't need to eat anything." She raised her eyes slightly, looking at the little girl's earnest face, as if making a decision, "I...can I know your name?"
Cheng Shuang hesitated for a moment, but seeing the pitiful look in the other person's expectant eyes, she suddenly laughed, "You won't eat people, but you can lie! Let me guess, you must have some special purpose in stealing my name, right?"
The girl with glasses still hasn't changed her face back!
"So I'm sorry, I can't."
The girl with glasses gave a soft "oh," seemingly unperturbed by the rejection.
Cheng Shuang silently stopped laughing, glanced thoughtfully at the girl with glasses, pushed aside the velvet curtain, and looked warily at the mountain of flesh. She pulled the curtain and looked up; the smacking sounds were coming from there, and occasionally giant food scraps would fall from the sky like hailstones.
The little girl had to be careful to avoid falling objects from above. When she could finally see the sky clearly, all she saw was an exaggerated double chin and a gaping, blood-red mouth that kept opening and closing.
The muscular girl with pigtails transformed into a giant, appearing several times larger from the little girl's perspective, resembling a towering mountain.
Did Tian Dashuo get bigger, or did she get smaller?
The person above, who had been eating continuously, suddenly paused and glanced down.
Cheng Shuang quickly pulled her head back, peeked through the gap in the velvet curtain.
The robust young woman's gaze was fixed on the ground below, so long that she unconsciously held her breath, until a large, greasy hand slowly descended, picked up a round piece of ham that had fallen onto her lap, and stuffed it into her gaping maw with satisfaction, continuing to smack her lips as she ate.
There wasn't a single girl with pigtails at the restaurant during lunchtime, so Tian Dashuo must have skipped lunch. Judging from how fast he ate, he must have been starving.
Cheng Shuang didn't care much about these things; she was more concerned about her height.
The little girl already had a bad feeling, because the chair Tian Dashuo was sitting on was also an extra-large one, so it was more likely that it wasn't him who had gotten bigger, but her who had gotten smaller.
She lowered the curtain, took out the only hand-cranked flashlight in the storage compartment, and shone it across the other side as the light gradually brightened.
The entire opposite 'wall' is a dark red wooden structure. The restaurant's tabletop is made of wood, while the legs and other accessories are made of iron, so this is definitely not a dining table.
There are no lighting equipment above, and it's not a stage.
Cheng Shuang clumsily used the process of elimination, crossing out each of her guesses one by one. She didn't want to face the 'giant' because he didn't seem like a kind person. But the only way out was through those two heavy velvet curtains.
Only by understanding where we are can we find another way out.
Could it be a desk drawer?
As the flashlight beam slid down, she tried to see if there were any other miscellaneous items in the 'table drawer,' but a drag mark came into view very clearly.
She raised the flashlight again, high enough to expand the illumination range.
Like a wheel rolling over a wooden plank... The little girl ran around measuring, with a bespectacled woman following behind her, pulling her around by the waist and being carried around by the speed.
Four wheels, almost the same size as Cheng Shuang's height, were pulling a large... vegetable basket?
food basket!
Before Cheng Shuang could even be shocked, light flooded into the almost enclosed space, followed by a greasy, large hand reaching in and instantly taking up a third of the space.
The little girl ran and jumped, barely managing to dodge it.
She shrank back, barely managing to catch her breath, when the greasy, pungent smell of food emanating from the large hand forced her to cover her nose and take a few steps back. Thankfully, she managed to get away, because the large hand then began groping her from all sides, nearly flattening the girl.
For a large hand, this space is hardly spacious; one can easily tell if there's anything inside by touching it a couple of times. But clearly, the owner of the large hand is a stubborn person.
A piercing, hissing noise came from outside, followed by a whirlwind of breathing.
Cheng Shuang's heart skipped a beat, and she ran towards the velvet curtain.
A huge double chin first blocked out the light, followed by a mouth that kept chewing and nostrils like caverns. The little girl held her breath, not daring to relax for a moment, and ran with the momentum of a sprinter. Perhaps because the cat's paws had excellent grip, before the pupils, which were as big as the sun and moon, looked over, the little girl let out a soft purr and howled as she jumped onto the curtain.
As the velvet curtain was lifted further, Cheng Shuang moved laterally and successfully moved along the curtain to the other edge, cautiously looking out.
The table was supported by black wheels, suggesting it was a portable dining table or something similar. In front of them was a row of countertops, the steel surfaces covered with ingredients being processed; their enormous size and bloody appearance were quite unsettling.
Restaurant kitchen?
Cheng Shuang frowned slightly, her eyes returning to the girl with the ponytail.
The girl with the ponytail roughly rummaged through the food container, and seeing that there was truly no more trace of food, impatience gradually appeared on her face. With a shove of her large, greasy hands…
Cheng Shuang gasped, suppressing the urge to scream. As the wheels slid backward, she slid down the velvet curtain in its arc, leaped into the air, and landed in a starfish position.
The little girl's clothes were instantly soaked with cold sweat. There was a loud bang behind her as the movable table overturned, leaving her with nowhere to stand.
With their lives hanging by a thread, the cat raised its sharp claws and grabbed the oil-stained cuff.
Thick, muscular arms were wrapped inside the sleeves...
