Chapter 196 Underground Void

Five changes!!! This chapter, which I didn't know what to name, should be finished here!!

In the thin mist not far away, two blood-dripping hands pushed through the fog first, reaching out towards her with all their might, only managing to utter a few sobs, "A ghost! There's a ghost!"

With a loud bang, as if the earth itself were shaking, the owner of those hands was slammed flat.

Blood and flesh splattered everywhere.

Even though Cheng Shuang was two or three meters away from them, she was still splattered with blood on half of her body.

The pieces of flesh that had broken off beneath my feet still showed signs of the muscle tissue struggling and twitching before it died.

The little girl's already pale face completely lost all color. If she hadn't received the memories of the cruel and bloody apocalypse from her older sister Cheng Shuang, she probably would have fainted from a heart attack long ago.

Even so, the twelve-year-old child remained frozen in place, not daring to move an inch.

Her frail figure trembled violently as if struck by a gale, her eyes staring blankly at the blood clot. If it weren't for the constant flapping of her delicate nostrils, her face would have looked no better than that of a dead person.

Time flowed by slowly, and there were no ghosts, nor did anything else appear.

The fog was ever-present, obscuring her vision, but with careful observation, its changes could be monitored to detect danger. Similarly, if she moved even slightly, perhaps just breathing heavily, the unknown assailant lurking in the shadows would discover her.

Now, the fog three meters away prevents her from seeing the killer's face, and the killer is also unaware of her presence.

Cold sweat trickled down her forehead to the corners of her eyes, stinging and hurting them. The more panicked Cheng Shuang became, the calmer she became. In the silence, she hugged her teddy bear tightly, suppressing the urge to scream and cry, and began to analyze what had just happened.

The little girl was never a particularly active child. She often had to take leave from school due to health conditions. Her classmates were all nice, but they weren't very close to her and were always very cautious around her.

Growing up in such an environment, Cheng Shuang became more and more sensible, fearing that she might hurt the good intentions of her peers. Especially after her older sister went missing two years ago, her parents quit their jobs to focus on finding her sister, and there were even fewer people around her to talk and laugh with.

The 24-hour convenience store opened around that time, so that when her parents went out to look for her, her youngest daughter could be looked after by someone.

Of course, the little girl's family did not neglect her. Instead, as her condition gradually stabilized and she became quiet and well-behaved, they fully supported their search for her older sister.

Normally, the two adults would choose to go out during school hours, but today was an exception.

What kind of person can crush a person into dust in an instant?

Could it be a monster?

Cheng Shuang's trembling guess.

Children's imaginations are boundless, and with the added bonus of Cheng Shuang's memories from the apocalypse, their imaginations immediately run wild.

As if in response to her thoughts, the earth shook again. Judging from the sound, it should be more than 20 meters away. Then, the ground shook every minute, getting further and further away from the location.

Cheng Shuang swallowed hard, her peach blossom eyes widening desperately, childishly trying to see through the thick fog to see what the murderer really was!

Such a frequency, could it be... a giant?!

She mustered her courage and slowly walked towards the blood-stained ground.

Sure enough, the shape of a giant foot was flattened onto the shapeless meat patty. This was beyond the scope of a giant and should be called a colossal monster.

The little girl gestured with her thin, bony hand, and instantly felt a chill run down her spine.

With just five toes the size of buckets, he crushed the man halfway, leaving five bloody marks on the ground.

The stench of blood in the air grew stronger, and Cheng Shuang hurriedly looked away, belatedly gagging a few times.

When I arrived at the convenience store in the morning, the little girl heated up a sandwich and milk for breakfast. Now she has digested it all and can't vomit anything.

Even so, tears streamed down her cheeks along with the sound of vomiting, only to be wiped away by her childishly and hastily tugging at her sleeve.

Because the danger is not completely over, panic and fear will only hasten your death.

Faintly, shrill screams echoed from all directions, growing louder as they approached.

The little girl didn't panic and run blindly. Even though the muddy ground beneath her feet made her tremble with fear, she instinctively covered her chest with her teddy bear for comfort, while constantly looking left and right to find a way out.

Fortunately, having absorbed the experiences of the post-apocalyptic young lady, although she was still young, she had some emergency response methods when encountering a crisis. Despite her panic, she was able to calm herself down, and her beautiful, innocent peach blossom eyes were fixed on the movement of the mist. After a while, she saw the mist on the right slowly change.

Human? Monster? Or the ghost that the adult cried out before dying? The unknown creatures disrupted the unchanging thick fog as they moved.

To the right was the location of the convenience store, where the lights had long been turned off. There was no going back, and the ground was still covered in blood. The intruder suddenly barged in, and Cheng Shuang couldn't tell whether it was friend or foe. She made up her mind and started running wildly in the opposite direction.

If giants have appeared in this foggy world, how far away can other monsters be?

She didn't want to sit idly by and wait to die; death was not pleasant, and the young girl didn't want to experience it again.

He ran with his head down, but suddenly a murderous intent arose from behind him. Strange footsteps rang out, accompanied by the panting of wild beasts, closing in step by step.

In this boundless atmosphere, even running felt like a helpless despair, let alone for children who lacked physical strength and were physically weak.

But the little girl had a tenacious spirit; she kept running with her head down and managed to widen the distance between them with great difficulty.

There were no road signs to guide her, nor any familiar streets or buildings. It was as if everything in the world had vanished, with only the fog accompanying the tormented humans.

Everyone instinctively stays away from danger.

Similarly, the monsters' vision was also obstructed, giving unarmed humans a chance to escape.

The little girl didn't have the strength to look back. With unprecedented speed and explosive power, she desperately tried to escape. Her heart pounded violently, each beat a dull, painful thud against her chest. The unknown creature chasing her reeked of a foul stench, its stench almost within reach.

A sense of crisis sent chills down her spine, and even though her legs were sore and numb, she dared not stop for even half a second.

Even so, she was almost caught several times.

Fortunately, she wasn't running in a straight line. Sensing danger, she keenly veered off course, causing the wild beasts behind her to repeatedly miss their target.

Cheng Shuang knew that such a small trick would have no chance of winning against an intelligent being, but she was already exhausted from thinking, her vision was blurring, and her body was about to slip out of her brain's control.

Just when she was about to despair, a figure suddenly rushed out from the cross section, accompanied by a cold wind of malice, and knocked her to the ground.

The little girl was in so much pain she almost cried out.

She stuffed a teddy bear into her mouth to suppress the urge to scream and cry.
