Chapter 214 The Sun Appears

She dismissed the vagrants around Du Lanshan and Sun Han in the same way. After they left, April became even more arrogant. She directly ordered Feng Jiakang to throw the guide who was following her out the door.

Then, with an arrogant air, he berated the dazed and confused homeless man, turned and pointed to another guide to serve him, before turning and leaving with his men in a menacing manner.

The guide was already feeling guilty for falling asleep after failing in her duty, and now she was being mocked by other guides who were jealous of her. She had no mind to think about anything else and hurriedly followed, trying to win back April's favor.

Cheng Shuang thought the most troublesome side would be Feng Jiakang. Tian Sanlang was much more cunning than Fang Niang, and it would be difficult to explain if he insisted on investigating Fang Niang's disappearance.

So the little girl brought it up first, asking, "Should we report it?"

"Don't be silly, isn't it good to have one less competitor?" A mysterious look appeared on Tian Sanlang's pale face. "Every time someone disappears, it's not you or me who disappears, so why should we meddle in other people's business!"

Cheng Shuang's heart sank slightly, and the excitement of reconnecting with everyone vanished.

This is clearly a sign of confidence. Even if one or two wanderers die, they don't think the protectors can escape unscathed. In fact, this has happened quite often in the past, so Tasaburo doesn't care at all. Instead, he seems to feel a sense of satisfaction, as if a VIP has eliminated a strong competitor for him ahead of time.

In that cramped room, Saburo sat on the upper bunk opposite, looking down at the girl with an undisguised smile. "You've taken a fancy to that female VIP, haven't you? Your original gender wasn't male!"

Recalling Fang Niang's lush green silhouette, the little girl was completely unaware of the difference between men and women, but she still nodded sullenly.

"How about this, you help me gain the VIP's trust, and I'll help you cover your tracks. You have two days left, so you can get close to the female VIP however you like. Don't be afraid of those guides; their hides are durable, and the city lord doesn't want anything wasted. You'll have plenty of opportunities."

After that, Tian Sanlang rambled on and on, but Cheng Shuang didn't pay much attention; it was all just empty talk to fool people.

Another day has passed.

In the city center, the light is abundant, and the flow of time is relatively slowed down, making it almost impossible to distinguish the alternation of day and night with the naked eye.

As Saburo continued talking, there was a knock on the door. He quickly pressed the pattern on the headboard, and the room was filled with light, so bright it was blinding. The three single windows turned into ordinary walls.

Before he could open the door, Feng Jiakang pushed it open and said impatiently, "What are you doing? There's no hot water in the bathroom. I need to take a shower."

Tian Sanlang responded crisply and ran over happily to stand guard beside Feng Jiakang. Even though he was busy running around, the smile on his face never faded.

Previously, many of the close-quarters tasks were handled by Fang Niang.

Cheng Shuang knew that Feng Jiakang deliberately sent Tian Sanlang away to give her an opportunity. He would definitely ask to go out in a sedan chair again in a while. The little girl didn't delay. She left a ghost doll and let it hide in the shadows to monitor every move in the house. She went into the storage room herself.

Although the agreed time for April had not yet arrived, she still had a restless feeling. Apart from the ghost doll on Sister Xin's side, she asked everyone, and neither Du Jun nor Sun Han had any accidents.

This immediately reminded Cheng Shuang of Xin Jie, who had disappeared without a trace.

Sure enough, when the elevator reached the basement level, the ghost doll on Sister Xin's side let out a weak cry for help.

The little girl shuddered. As she relayed the message, she followed the intermittent guidance of the ghost doll to the third basement level.

They all overlooked one issue: if there are devices that can absorb souls and reduce mental power, then there must also be things that can block the transmission of mental power.

The drawbacks of having separated too many of the ten Luo Ans from one body are beginning to show.

She mistakenly thought that the ghost doll in her hand was acting too slowly because it was scattered, but now it seems that one of them had met with misfortune and, because it could not transmit the message, its main body was unable to react.

"Shuangshuang, inside, inside, I feel so bad!" The porcelain-white face of Luo An in his arms was cracking. He clutched his head and cried out in a low voice, "I can't hold on much longer, Shuangshuang, save me, I can't hold on much longer! There's a great demon king here, ahhh..."

Cheng Shuang looked at the darkness on the third basement level, then glanced back at the motionless elevator door. Gritting her teeth, she first stuffed a pink pill into Luo An's mouth, but it was completely ineffective; the pill's effects disappeared as soon as it entered his body.

It's not quite accurate to say they disappeared; it's more like they were plundered.

But at least the ghost doll calmed down a bit. It whimpered weakly with its eyes closed, its cold body twitching from time to time, and the cracked parts revealed the old gray fabric, as if it was about to be reduced to its original form.

Without hesitation, Cheng Shuang stuffed another powdered pill into its mouth. Even if Luo An didn't die, losing a fragment of its spirit would severely damage its vitality.

The little girl knew that bringing them out meant they were bound to get hurt, but she certainly didn't want nine out of ten to become the next group.

In her heart, Luo An could be it, or it could be them; none of them could be missing.

The three underground levels were completely dark, without wind or light, just like the dark wilderness one encountered when first entering this land of death.

The difference is that there is a tiny bright spot in the distance, as if enticing people to keep getting closer—Sister Xin is there.

In the end, Cheng Shuang decided not to wait any longer. Her skills improved, and the number of powder pills she produced increased from ten every twenty-four hours to fifteen. After so many days, the accumulated number was enough to await rescue.

Moreover, she didn't believe that Sister Xin encountered danger as soon as she entered this place; otherwise, given the speed at which the ghost doll lost its spiritual power, it would probably have dissipated long ago.

In other words, the third underground level is not a completely dangerous area; there is a certain amount of survival space. Perhaps Sister Xin triggered something.

The little girl used her grocery store skills to conjure a sports car, got in, turned on the lights, and drove straight towards the bright spot. Of course, the teddy bear sat in the passenger seat, ready to activate its protective shield skill at any time.

She didn't know why Sister Xin went from the first basement level to the third basement level. Before meeting her, no one could guess what she was thinking.

The car sped along the straight road, the high beams illuminating the unobstructed path ahead. As the two points widened, a magnificent and peculiar scene gradually unfolded before the man and the bear.

When Cheng Shuang put away the car and stepped inside, it was as if she had entered a world turned upside down.

The faint light illuminates the cascading waterfall, refracting a colorful rainbow. Looking up, the waterfall washes over the large rocks suspended in the air, and then gathers into a babbling river in the sky.

The river winds around the tree canopy, which is so thick and dense that it covers a vast area, completely obscuring the sky above.

It's nothing but a stream.

Beneath your feet lies a surface as smooth as a mirror, making a soft, squelching sound when you step on it.

The faint light came from the ground, originating from a large, swaying mass of duck egg yolks buried deep beneath the water mirror, resembling the sun.

But how come the sun is at my feet?
