The 3D imaging changed instantly, and information about people and pets was retrieved, seemingly in sync with what Old Axe was thinking. Virtual images flashed by quickly, including information about pet parks, advertisements for pet snacks and clothing, and forums for exchanging ideas about raising pets.
Cheng Shuang's eyes brightened slightly. If she could have the right to use the quantum computer, she wouldn't need to communicate verbally and could shop independently.
Just as the little girl was racking her brains about how to temporarily take over Mr. Axe's personal computer, she was lifted up and put into a soft, breathable bag. The bag was then hung around Mr. Axe's neck, and its depth was just enough for the little girl to stand up and stick her head out.
She turned around, puzzled, and leaned back against the soft, elastic pocket, gazing at the other person with a bewildered look.
Big Axe uttered two simple words: "Listen to me!" With a murderous glint in his eyes, he grabbed the cleaning spray from the table and walked toward the glass cage.
Cheng Shuang turned around and found that two new customers had arrived silently. The old man's murderous aura was directed at these two.
New customers were clearly not popular with the pets; even the most lively pets shrunk their heads and huddled listlessly in a corner. Their intelligence might be lacking, but their instinct for self-preservation was excellent.
Cheng Shuang couldn't quite recognize the new customers' true species. They looked like monitor lizards or crocodiles. One was large and the other small. The smaller one had a pink bow tied to its tail, while the larger one carried a briefcase on its back.
The little girl curiously tiptoed and peered down into the bag. The old axe man paused, then helplessly used his furry paws to gently push her head back in.
Then Mr. Axe glared at him and said rudely, "Why are you here again? There's nothing here that you need. I'm going home now. Giant Lizard Qiong, please take your cubs and leave!"
"Daddy, Daddy, I want that!" The baby monitor lizard didn't care about the old axe's cold face at all. It raised its body, its two claws gripping the glass cage with a clattering sound. Its gaze was fixed on a twelve or thirteen-year-old boy inside the cage without a trace of warmth, as if it were staring at prey that could fill its belly.
The young pet hugged its head and trembled. An alarm immediately sounded on the screen, indicating that its body temperature was rising sharply from the normal 36 degrees to 37.5 degrees.
"Your actions have hurt this pet!"
The old axe barked angrily, but the baby monitor lizard ignored him. The father monitor lizard said calmly, "How did you hurt him? I didn't tear my cub to pieces with my claws! This isn't how you run a business. Be careful, or I'll file a complaint! Oh, by the way!" The monitor lizard half-stood up, flicked its whip-like tail slightly, and said smugly, "You had a hard time getting that complaint withdrawn last time, didn't you? What about that female leopard employee? You fired her before the complaint was withdrawn, right? Who can you fire this time? Yourself?"
The old axe was unwilling to engage in idle chatter, because the pet boy's body temperature had risen again, and that was the problem it should be addressing.
Cheng Shuang could feel the giant axe's chest heaving violently with anger, but it gritted its teeth and swallowed its anger. Instead, it gave the giant lizard Qiong a cold look and dryly reminded her, "I need to close the shop for cleaning now. Please leave!"
Unfortunately, the little monitor lizard had its father backing it up and completely ignored it. Its sharp claws kept tapping on the glass cage, watching with great interest how the human pet would tremble with fear every time it heard the crisp tapping sound.
While the old axe could be forceful, it couldn't actually stop a cub; after all, the cub was weak, and a single swipe of its paw might kill it. That's when the cleaning spray came in handy; the old axe quickly sprayed it towards the two unruly little paws.
The baby monitor lizard was startled and jumped up instantly, quickly hiding behind its father. It couldn't help but stick its tongue out several times, and thick saliva dripped onto the floor tiles.
This made the little monitor lizard realize its mistake and too ashamed to show its face again.
"Hey, you shouldn't have hurt my cub!" the giant lizard roared furiously, propping itself up.
"How did I hurt it? I didn't tear it apart with my claws!!" Big Axe calmly returned the same words verbatim. It pretended to ignore the monitor lizard's provocation and continued to spray cleaning spray on the glass cage. Even though it wasn't a liquid used to clean glass, it made it look quite convincing as it sprayed and wiped.
The monitor lizard, Qiong, took a step forward, its claws about to touch Old Axe, when Old Axe, holding up its spray, took a half-step back. "Hey buddy, are you going to fight me in my shop?" It gave a cruel smile. "Do you know where the last guy who tried to fight me in my shop is? Think about your cub! It's still young, it has a long life ahead of it!"
The monitor lizard Qiong suddenly regained its senses. After hesitating for a moment, it hooked the little monitor lizard with its tail whip and pulled it towards the door, saying angrily, "Go to another store! It's not the only one that sells human pets! This big, inflexible idiot, if it weren't for his family's fortune, he would have lost everything and couldn't even keep the store!"
"Dad, but all the people and pets in that family are clean and good-looking!"
"What's the difference between these dirty, weak little things? Dad will buy you four or five to play with later. You can tear them to pieces or bite them if you want, Dad has plenty of money!"
Cheng Shuang's eyes narrowed, and she suddenly understood why Big Axe didn't want her to show herself. Animal Planet was even more cruel and unfriendly than she had imagined.
"Scum!" Big Axe spat at the two backs, then stormed to the door, pressed the close button, and an electronic net descended, completely enveloping the door and floor-to-ceiling windows.
The old axe gently patted Cheng Shuang's little head, then went to the glass cage of the young human-pet. He tapped the screen outside a few times, and the little girl recognized the words "soothing medicine" and "fever reducer." A light yellow smoke immediately rose from the cage, enveloping the young human-pet. When the smoke dissipated, he was already asleep in the temperature-controlled cage.
Big Axe checked the information on the screen about the boy's physical condition. Seeing that there was nothing seriously wrong, he walked to the corner, picked up a mop, and bent down to wipe away the saliva that the little monitor lizard had left on the floor tiles.
The pocket containing Cheng Shuang was perpendicular to the ground at a 90-degree angle as the old axe moved. This did not prevent the little girl from observing. She was quite curious about the technology of Animal Planet. Did they not have any household robots or anything like that?
But she soon understood why Big Axe was doing it himself. He complained, "Damn monitor lizards, they didn't even remove their venom glands. It was the right decision not to sell them to humans as pets!"
It cleaned the ground, but was still worried, especially now that there was a lively little guy inside. You know, monitor lizard venom can cause rapid swelling and intense pain that can last for hours. Last time, a pet in the shop was bitten on the arm by a baby monitor lizard, and when it was brought back to the shop, it died from the pain before it could even get an antidote.
It was clearly the monitor lizard Qiong who was unwilling to remove the venom glands from its cubs, yet she insisted on accusing Qiong of selling sick human pets.
It absolutely despises this shameless animal!
Big Axe cleaned his paws several times before carefully taking out Cheng Shuang. His tiger-faced man couldn't help but rub against the little guy's face, saying tenderly, "Tomorrow I'll call the cleaning company's animals to do a toxin test. Little guy, stay close to me and don't run around, okay?"
Cheng Shuang simply tilted her head and was embraced tenderly, buried in the tiger's fur. "My baby is so good, Daddy loves you the most!"
