Chapter 279 Yin and Yang

The sky outside the window was already bright. Cheng Shuang stretched and climbed out of the large sleeping bag. Although it was called a sleeping bag, it was actually about the size of a tent. However, this high-tech product from Animal Planet would raise a thin, transparent protective light source when the user lay down. The brightness was similar to that of a nightlight. If any visitor other than the sleeping person approached, it would use a blindingly bright light as a warning. If the visitor stubbornly stepped into its circle, they would receive a treatment similar to an electric shock. It wouldn't kill anyone, but it was enough to paralyze the impolite visitor for at least ten minutes.

Of course, this is for the amount of electricity used on large animals. If it were a human body, the tolerance would be far less, and the human would definitely be lying on the ground for at least half an hour.

Even with sleeping bags, the two didn't sleep for long. As dawn broke, dogs began barking and birds chirping in the village, and the smell of cooking fires occasionally wafted into the houses. Given the maintainer's vigilance, even though he was exhausted, he couldn't sleep soundly.

So while the little girl was rolling around in her sleeping bag with her blanket, Du Jun sat up straight, propping up the stray hairs on his head. The young man was in the prime of his life, his fair face not showing much fatigue, but his eyes were somewhat drowsy and confused, until a small foot kicked his leg, instantly waking him up.

The little girl is much stronger than before! Fortunately, she realized she had accidentally hurt her ally and sleepily murmured an apology.

Du Jun shook his head, took out a spray bottle filled with cold water and sprayed it on his face, which completely woke him up. Then he grabbed the little girl who was still rolling around in her sleeping bag and didn't want to get out of bed, and woke her up too.

Cheng Shuang was still twisting and turning in the big hand of the young man, trying to escape, when she felt a chill colder than the air rushing towards her, and she was jolted awake.

With her face covered in cold water, she wiped it with her small hand, looking confused. She squinted and glanced at him with disgust. "Little brother, you'll never find a girlfriend if you're so straight. I'll never be able to call you 'little sister-in-law'!"

Du Jun roughly ruffled her messy hair, saying, "Don't describe me like I'm some discounted, expired product."

The little girl chuckled without saying a word. She gave a delicate little yawn, rubbed her eyes, and asked, "Is it really dawn? Or is it a lie? The rooster hasn't crowed at all!"

Upon hearing this, Du Jun paused in his washing up, while Cheng Shuang, after a moment of stunned silence, suddenly realized that what he said made perfect sense.

She glanced at the young man, quickly got up and put on her down jacket. "I'll go check over there." With that, she quietly ran over and peered through the door.

The courtyard was deserted, but beyond the wall, wisps of smoke could be seen rising from chimneys in the distance, creating a picturesque scene of a mountain village with the surrounding green hills and misty clouds.

The air is filled not only with the aroma of cooking but also with a sweet freshness that is absent in the city. Taking a deep breath, you feel refreshed all over.

The door opened with a gentle pull, and Cheng Shuang turned around to exchange a glance with Du Jun.

The little girl asked innocently, "Did the roosters all go to the wedding ceremony?"

Fearing she might venture out rashly, Du Jun quickly beckoned her back. "You wash up first, I'll go scout." As soon as he finished speaking, the courtyard gate opened, and four figures walked in. One of them adjusted his glasses and spoke first, "There are indeed two more players here."

Cheng Shuang, who was about to call out to Uncle Sun, shut her mouth and tilted her head innocently to look at the intruder.

Besides Sun Han, there was a couple among the visitors, while the lone woman stayed close to Sun Han.

"Hi, wanna team up?" The man in the couple asked with a smile. His eyes weren't big, but they were bright and clear. His smile and white teeth made him very likable.

Cheng Shuang noticed that he was wearing a stylish black down jacket and slim-fit jeans, while his girlfriend's clothes, though not outdated, looked a bit baggy, giving off a boyfriend vibe. However, his girlfriend was petite, with a small dimple when she smiled, and the clothes didn't quite suit her; instead, it looked like a child had stolen an adult's clothes to wear.

Du Jun stepped forward and nodded politely to the four people.

“My name is Qingfeng,” Sun Han said again, introducing the woman beside him, “her name is Qingyun.”

The little girl smiled kindly. Uncle Sun was really lazy. He must have given himself a code name based on Qingyun's name. Using a code name wasn't bad. Anyway, after crossing the Gate of Reincarnation, the maintainers gradually began to avoid using their companions' names, so as not to give enemies with all sorts of abilities an opportunity to take advantage.

The man's name is Li Lei, and his girlfriend is Han Meimei...

Cheng Shuang smiled to herself, naturally knowing the connection between the two names. She owned a set of junior high school English textbooks from 2008, and the main characters that should have been replaced were still Li Lei and Han Meimei. This was probably due to the difference in planetary dimensions, because when her older sister entered junior high school, the English textbooks had already been updated.

"I'm Xiaohe," the little girl introduced herself.

“I am Xiao Chuan,” Du Jun replied.

Two more carelessly chosen names.

Qingyun mistakenly thought that Xiaohe's "He" was the "He" in "river," and the tall, sharp-looking woman with raised eyebrows smiled and asked, "Are you siblings?"

The two exchanged a glance and nodded without denying it.

Qingyun laughed again, "You're really lucky. My companion and I weren't able to be together."

Cheng Shuang smiled innocently, "Yes, yes! Luckily, my brother and I weren't separated. I was so scared yesterday!"

The group chatted briefly about what happened last night. The couple played the role of witnesses to the newlyweds, while Sun Han and Qingyun played the bride's parents. In short, their roles were different, but their fates were similar. The only difference was that the couple did not arbitrarily disturb the ancestral hall; they truly guarded it all night. Therefore, they did not encounter the scene where the village chief and others broke into the ancestral hall.
