Cheng Shuang ignored her, while Du Jun sneered, "If it enters your room and tries to kill you, then you can talk about whether it's cruel or not!"
The female player retorted angrily, "Anyway, we're not really going to die!"
Sun Han raised an eyebrow. "If I don't like you and kill you, you'll forgive me, right? After all, you won't really die!"
The female player got even angrier and shouted, "Who are you people! You're actually helping the wicked! It's your attitude that spoils these unruly brats!" She didn't notice that her female companion, who had been holding her hand, quietly pulled her arm away and scrutinized her again. The two men with them also silently curled their lips. Given their cold-hearted nature, this companion would probably be abandoned by them.
No one will actually die, but no one wants to lose points and leave the instance for nothing. Besides, every death involves excruciating pain, so everyone tries to avoid it as much as possible.
For an NPC with only one face that exists only in a dungeon, she irrationally made enemies with real-world players; that shows she's out of her mind.
The other two male players walked up to Du Jun and Sun Han again, this time without any hesitation towards Cheng Shuang, and exclaimed, "No wonder you said this kid is amazing! It's true!"
"Haha, that's right, you can shut down NPCs with just your words!"
Cheng Shuang: ...Why am I not too happy even though I was praised?
The countess, still hungover, didn't wake up until noon. She seemed completely unaware of the events that had transpired overnight. Dressed in a radiant red dress, she exuded passion and swagger. Glancing sideways at the silver-haired butler, she lazily used a sheer lace fan to shield her face and let out a wide, unpretentious yawn.
The people at the table looked away, pretending not to see.
The butler leaned down and whispered a few words in her ear.
There was no breakfast in medieval Europe; the main meal was at noon. In fact, the players had no objection to the time of meal. Even Lianrong and the old man, who were staying in the servants' quarters, looked exhausted and took advantage of the morning to catch up on sleep in pairs.
Of course, Cheng Shuang didn't sleep. She made an excuse that she wanted to familiarize herself with the castle and had two knights take her around the entire castle.
Aside from the King and Countess's office areas and private spaces, she meticulously observed every place she could go, and made a surprising discovery: the castle had a strange stench, which was entirely due to their habit of urinating and defecating anywhere, and even the King's castle was not immune to it.
They just choose the corners carefully, avoiding getting the expensive carpets dirty, and so on.
Cheng Shuang considered these experiences as broadening her horizons, but her main goal was to figure out how many hidden doors were in the castle's rooms.
After observing for a while, she realized that not all the brocade tapestries had the small room with a pool underneath, but that didn't mean that other rooms didn't have pool rooms, which made Cheng Shuang even more vigilant.
It's an open secret that the capricious countess has ulterior motives, but she can't guess what her purpose is. Surely it can't just be that she has a bad temper and enjoys watching the exciting events created by players with blood!
The countess may appear carefree, but that's likely just a facade.
Now past noon, at the dining table, the countess smiled amicably. "This morning, the Knights captured three despicable thieves. I would like to invite our guests from the East to witness their execution by hanging. Oh, and to celebrate the capture of the thieves, I specially instructed the kitchen to prepare a meaningful and delicious meal for everyone today." With that, the butler clapped his hands, and one by one, small, red-hot bull heads were brought out.
Having already experienced last night's disastrous meal, the three silently put down their cutlery, picked up their wine glasses, and raised them to the Countess in unison, taking a sip to calm their nerves.
The countess happily returned the gift, her smile much more genuine than before; it seemed that wine was her true love.
Cheng Shuang naturally wouldn't actually drink it; she just touched her lips to it.
Real players, on the other hand, mostly bring convenient compressed food, and they never miss out on dungeons where they can eat delicious food.
Although the calf's head was oddly shaped, its rich aroma made the men's mouths water and they immediately started cutting into the meat.
The two female players were somewhat hesitant; the bull stared wide-eyed, clearly unsure of what to do.
The female player who had previously been competing with Cheng Shuang saw that Cheng Shuang and the other two were only drinking wine and secretly mocked them for being cowardly. She took a knife and cut a piece of meat from the back of the little bull's head, took a couple of tentative bites, and found it not particularly delicious, but barely edible.
She happily cut off another big piece and buried her head in eating it, her mouth greasy.
Another female player, seeing her companions enjoying their food, was eager to try it herself. Just as she picked up a knife to cut, she heard the woman next to her scream, which startled her so much that she immediately gripped the knife in her hand as a self-defense tool.
The men looked up and were so startled that they pushed the table back, causing the chair legs to scrape against the ground, creating a noise even more unbearable than screams.
Cheng Shuang tilted her head and looked inside the little bull's head. It was round and pinkish-white, and its shape and color were somewhat similar to a human head that had been shaved.
That was only an approximation. The little girl got up and quickly disassembled the little cow head in front of her table. Sure enough, inside was a piglet's head. It seemed that in order to make the shape more human-like, the two big ears had been cut off.
Pigs' eyes, which resemble human eyes from certain angles, are deliberately stuffed into cow heads. When the meat is uneven and the pig's head is faintly visible under the skeleton, it can easily lead to misunderstandings at first glance.
It was just a false alarm!
The screaming female player immediately fell silent. Under the Countess's amused gaze, she angrily yelled at Cheng Shuang, "Why didn't you say so sooner!"
Cheng Shuang sneered, "It wasn't me who made you eat it!"
Her companion glared at her and whispered a reprimand, "Shut up! What's it to you!"
The little girl glanced twice at the unassuming young woman who spoke up for her, whose eyes were exceptionally clear. The woman noticed her gaze and gave her an apologetic smile.
Cheng Shuang returned a sweet smile, and the two of them turned their heads at the same time, ignoring the female player who was grumbling and complaining after losing face.
Standing behind, Lianrong lowered her head and whispered to the girl, "The two female players, the one who doesn't like you is called Guo Meimei, and the other is called Guo Yangyang. They should be cousins. The tall one with them is Tian Jing, Guo Yangyang's boyfriend. I think he and Guo Meimei are also ambiguous. The short one is Dong Dong, who seems to have a crush on Guo Yangyang."
The little girl first gave Lianrong a thumbs up, then stroked her chin and exclaimed, "Dong Dong is not blind!" If it were her, she would also like Guo Yangyang, who doesn't cause trouble.
"So young, yet so knowledgeable!" Lianrong took the opportunity to pat the little girl's head, then obediently returned to the back, bowing her head like a maid.
The old man was also mentioning two men from another group to Sun Han. The middle-aged man was called Zhou Da, and the young man was called Zhou San. If they weren't pseudonyms, they were real brothers.
The group exchanged information in hushed tones. The countess finished a bottle of red wine and was stopped by the butler when she wanted to drink more.
She unfolded her fan listlessly and suggested again, "Let's go! Let's go watch the hanging!"
