Chapter 414 Changes at the Rest Stop

The group of companions exchanged information about the changes they had made after upgrading their individual skills.

Sun Han – Pseudo-rare, upgradable skill: Beware of bad luck!

When the target team enters the designated range, if there are ten or more members, the damage is based on minor injuries caused by bad luck; if there are fewer than ten members, the damage will result in fainting or mental confusion. During the skill's release and hit, it can negate special and lower-level skill or card attacks. It has a 1-hour time limit and a 10-hour cooldown. The skill's activation time can be paused and accumulated; if paused or accumulated, the cooldown time doubles. Note: Frequent use of the bad luck skill will cause resentment from temporary teammates outside of rest stops! Beware of bad luck!

Liu Juan – Special, growable skill: Simulation!

It's not just assimilation! Before entering the Gate of Reincarnation, I can also choose the abilities of a wanderer from one of the death zones I've visited. Don't let my unassuming appearance fool you; my time limit extends to after the Gate of Reincarnation closes!

Be careful, not only might wanderers fall in love with me, but even domineering bosses have a chance of succumbing to my charm!

Du Jun – Special Upgradable Skill: Game World!

Limited to three targets, this skill can forcibly invite both the target's body and consciousness into a self-created mini-dungeon. The skill caster pre-determines the danger level (this cannot be changed while the game dungeon is open) and can freely assign roles to NPCs. Upon the target's death, their skill is acquired and can be converted into a one-time skill card. (The above special skills and cards are invalid.)

Limitations: Skill duration 30 seconds, cooldown 8 hours. If all target characters successfully complete the level within the skill's duration, it is considered an escape, the self-created mini-dungeon collapses, and the cooldown time for the next Death Zone increases to 10 hours. If it collapses again, the cooldown time for the next Death Zone increases to 12 hours. And so on, with no upper limit to the cooldown time.

Du Lanshan – Special Upgradable Skill: General's Command!

When the general takes command, all troops obey. When issuing orders to designated targets (limited to three), the targets must not disobey within the specified time. Those who resolutely disobey will be punished with fifty strokes of the military rod. Upon awakening, the skill will increase the target's favorability towards the skill caster by 50%. Note: If the target's favorability is below -100%, this increase is meaningless. Skill duration: 30 minutes; cooldown: 8 hours.

Note: When serving under the BOSS, please remember to choose a comfortable posture before submitting, such as bowing deeply.

Du Lushui – Special, growable skill: Paper Doll!

As a growable paper doll, you can randomly draw the aura of a character from a two-dimensional anime, such as a Mary Sue heroine or an overpowered protagonist. In a sense, unless you're incredibly unlucky, the protagonist's immortality law gives you a chance to defy death. Humans will automatically blindfold themselves upon encountering a paper doll, while non-humans will ignore its presence. The biggest limitation is that if the skill is used for more than one hour, the user will permanently transform into a paper doll. A true paper doll, with a 12-hour cooldown.

The group exchanged bewildered glances, their excitement at the upgrade mingling with the skill descriptions, leaving them speechless for a few moments.

I feel like everyone has upgraded, but there's still something unreliable about them.

For example, Sun Han's frequent use of skills will cause temporary teammates outside of rest stops to reject him. For example, Du Lanshan's skill is ineffective against bosses. For example, Du Lushu has the Mary Sue heroine halo. For example, Liu Juan's domineering boss falls in love with me. And Du Jun's cooldown time is doubled…

And Cheng Shuang's teddy bear has actually lost its fur!

It's absolutely outrageous.

"Be content." Sun Han coughed lightly, breaking the silence in the room.

"Yes, I can use my special abilities now!" Liu Juan cheered.

“I can create my own game instances.” Du Jun’s usually cold face showed a slight smile.

Du Lanshan scratched his head, "At least I don't have to kneel down and beg for mercy when I see the BOSS." Although prostrating himself wouldn't make much difference.

Du Lushu chuckled, obviously mocking his brother's contentment. He raised an eyebrow at Du Lanshan smugly, "I think even if I'm not the luckiest person, I'm definitely not the unluckiest."

Cheng Shuang, looking completely disoriented, pulled out the hair growth tonic and breathed a sigh of relief. "Luckily, I had some stock up on it!"

Everyone looked at her, or rather, at the teddy bear in her arms.

Baby Bear: Gloomy monster, ha, gloomy monster, haha, gloomy, gloomy, monster!

After the group took a shower and slept, the convenience store upgrade was completed.

It's likely a full upgrade, and it took much longer than last time.

In terms of overall structure, the convenience store has expanded by 20 square meters from 200 square meters, with two additional rows of shelves, one for cosmetics and the other for imported snacks.

A fast food counter has been added next to it, with daily menus posted on the glass window. The menus are different every day of the week, with two meat dishes and two vegetable dishes. Additional dishes require points to order, and different dishes have different prices.

Most importantly, the thick fog outside the floor-to-ceiling windows has dissipated considerably, and a light can be seen not far away, like a lighthouse guiding the way in the sea, or as if telling the people in the convenience store that they are not alone.

Cheng Shuang knelt on the long table, pressed against the floor-to-ceiling window, and strained to see through it with her exceptional eyesight.

"What's on the other side?" Liu Juan leaned on the long table, wishing she could push aside the layers of mist to see whether the people on the other side were her compatriots or hidden monsters.

Because of this change, Du Lanshan no longer bothered to urge everyone to exercise; instead, they all gathered in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, discussing it animatedly.

"I think it's most likely a traffic light," Du Lushu said, stroking her chin.

“I don’t think so,” Sun Han shook his head. “I suspect it’s another rest stop that’s closest to us.”

The group immediately turned to look at him.

“You guys forgot, one of the upgrade projects is to open up certain areas and allow station managers to check the number and names of nearby undead fugitives. Does that mean that in a certain area where our convenience store is located, there are other rest stations besides ours?”
