Chapter 46 Desert Statue

The scene changed abruptly when the host announced the start of the game.

A wave of heat swept over me, especially after suddenly moving from an air-conditioned banquet hall to a sunny spot; the temperature was far too unpleasant in comparison.

Cheng Shuang gazed into the distance in confusion, but Du Jun, who was holding her hand, was nowhere to be seen. There was no one around her except herself.

The statues, made of yellow sand, are scattered across this boundless sand dune, where it is dry and hot without wind.

The statues come in various shapes and sizes, such as castles and mermaids, and are over two meters tall. The fierce beasts all have wide-open eyes and fierce expressions, as if looking down on all living beings and surrounding her.

Let alone children, even adults would find it hard to feel at ease in such a deathly silent atmosphere.

The little girl quickly took out a teddy bear from her backpack and held it to her chest. Remembering that the host had named the game "Maze," she immediately dared not wander around.

She was short and her vision was limited, so she took off her running socks and put them on the bear cub's little feet. Seeing that the little feet had turned into big fans, and the socks were still intact, she breathed a sigh of relief.

The little bear, as long as an arm, grew into a three-meter-tall, robust adult bear, and the little girl was itching to climb up.

At this moment, the giant bear bent down, stretched out its large, furry paws, scooped the person up, and placed them on its neck.

Cheng Shuang happily stroked the bear cub's big head, then shifted his bottom to sit up straight. He took out a little yellow hat from his spatial storage and put it on his head to block the sun. He grabbed the bear's ears and craned his neck to look around.

Immediately, five people were spotted from different directions.

Although they were too far away to see clearly, they each used their unique abilities to explore the terrain from their elevated positions.

Viewed from above, the statues are arranged haphazardly, making it impossible to distinguish which path is the actual route. Furthermore, due to their imposing size, it's difficult to discern whether any humans are hiding behind them, thus making it impossible to determine the correct direction by observing the paths of others.

Suddenly, the bear cub moved.

It turned around and threw a powerful punch, nearly knocking the little girl off balance, causing her yellow hat to fall onto the desert.

Cheng Shuang quickly steadied herself, her expression changing slightly.

The mermaid statue closest to them came to life. The tall mermaid swung its tail, half of which had been smashed by a fist, and its empty eyes accurately spotted the little girl on the giant bear's back, launching another attack.

The fish's tail swept straight up, reaching well over two meters high, almost three meters, and the sand it stirred up stung people's skin.

The giant bear roared, clenched its fists, grabbed the tattered fish tail, lifted the mermaid up, and slammed her down.

Suddenly, yellow sand rose up, and the mermaid statue was shattered into pieces.

At the same time, the other five people at the higher ground were also attacked. Some managed to dodge but were exhausted from dealing with the situation, while others were shot down and never got up again.

Screams rang out from all around, even though the people were far apart, the sounds seemed to be right next to each other.

This is even with skills or cards; it would be even more difficult for a newcomer to cope.

Cheng Shuang lowered her head and kissed the giant bear's big head, praising it with pride, "Little bear, you're awesome! Shuangshuang has high hopes for you!"

The giant bear's ears twitched in response.

"Is it that we can't stay in one place for too long, or that we can't go beyond a certain height?" The little girl pondered, resting her chin on her hand. As soon as she finished speaking, the griffin statue on the side moved slowly.

She rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing things, and quickly pointed in a direction away from the five people, "Little Bear, let's get out of here first."

The giant bear immediately obeyed, its steps quick and steady, so that the little girl felt no bumps at all.

As they left, the griffin slowly returned to its original posture, and a sand mound gradually rose from the spot where the mermaid had fallen, and in the blink of an eye, a mermaid stood solemnly once again.

Cheng Shuang was initially quite excited, laughing heartlessly when the giant bear occasionally accelerated by landing on all fours, since there was no chance of riding a giant bear in reality. But the further she walked, the more serious her expression became.

Along the way, I encountered countless similar statues of mermaids, griffins, and castles.

The little girl bit her lip; she hadn't seen a single human or any trace of human movement along the way.

Cheng Shuang thought for a moment, then pulled off the red ribbon. The chances of her getting through the maze by herself were too low.

Her shoulder-length hair was loose, and the flowing air passed through it.

"Little bear, can you feel it?" The little girl's voice was soft and filled with disbelief. "There's wind!"

She licked her fingers, stretched them out into the air, felt them, and nodded firmly, "It's the wind!"

The giant bear twitched its wet nose, offering no rebuttal.

Cheng Shuang frowned. There was bound to be sea breeze at sea, but they were clearly in a closed banquet hall. Unless there was a special method to teleport everyone, they shouldn't be able to feel the sea breeze.

However, we cannot use common sense to judge this situation.

The little girl was a bit confused, so she decided to make the bear cub slow down.

Her sixth sense has always been excellent. In the ticket qualification screening process, intuition, insight, and analysis each played a part, especially in critical moments when her subconscious reactions helped her avoid disaster several times.

Now her heart began to pound violently. It was definitely uncomfortable, but it was nowhere near as bad as the general weakness and suffocation she felt when she was having an attack. Instead, it helped to calm her down.

Does this mean that the closer you are to the sea breeze, the more likely you are to be outside the cruise ship's area, and if you completely lose your way, you'll fall directly into the sea? As for obstacles like walls... if the floor can swallow a sarcophagus, passing through a wall isn't impossible.

It's absolutely terrifying to think about.
