Chapter 573 Getting Angry

Completely different from fairy tales, the mermaid boy's transformation was not a beautiful scene at all. His fish tail was torn in the middle, dripping with blood. After the scales were removed, soft legs grew out, pink and tender like a baby's, or like two pieces of mud.

Liu Liu lay on the bamboo bridge, struggling to climb ashore. Sunlight fell on his legs, and the remaining green water droplets immediately rose into a large amount of steam.

His entire body was bathed in light, like an immortal about to ascend to heaven, surrounded by mist.

Unfortunately, no immortal would crawl on the ground in such a disheveled state.

Cheng Shuang sat by the bamboo bridge, swinging her legs easily. She took out a dry towel to dry her hair while looking at Liu Liu, who had transformed into human form.

Liu Liu's face was contorted in extreme pain, and she let out howls like a wild beast. Her skin burned and smoked under the sunlight, and gradually her bones formed, and her legs, which had been as soft as mud, suddenly regained their strength.

At this moment, Cheng Shuang stood up, lowered her head, looked at the boy lying on the bamboo bridge as if he had used up all his strength, and smiled slightly.

Liu Liu, who was gasping for breath with her mouth agape, was taken aback. Wasn't she scared?

Soon, it saw the human bend down, pinch a smear of white substance between its fingertips, and put it into its mouth.

Liu Liu immediately tried to spit it out, but her mouth was ruthlessly covered. Then she tasted the sweetness of the milk candy, which was quite delicious. Distracted, she bit the milk candy into tiny pieces and swallowed it with her saliva.

Enraged, Liu Liu leaped up. Her legs, having just regained strength, didn't give her a high jump, but it was enough to support her body. With her sharp, jagged teeth still bared, she charged at the human.

Compared to the enraged Liu Liu, Cheng Shuang calmly took two steps back and deftly sidestepped.

Liu Liu missed her target, swayed unsteadily for a moment, and almost fell off the bamboo bridge. Her outstretched arm moved in the arc of an oar. Just as she was about to regain her balance, someone gently kicked her waist, and with a splash, she still couldn't avoid falling into the river.

Whenever it tries to go ashore, a sharp dagger will quickly and accurately stab the back of its hand.

"If it weren't for me, they would have devoured you alive!" Liu Liu screamed. Each time she went ashore, she wasted a lot of her energy, making her little face more and more angry and distorted.

"If that weren't the case, you wouldn't be in the water right now, you'd be in the pot!" The little girl shrugged indifferently.

Liu Liu couldn't understand the deeper meaning in Cheng Shuang's words. It only felt that it had been mocked, so it slapped its face and glared at Cheng Shuang. It roared angrily, its voice sounding like a beast but not quite human. Cheng Shuang knew that it was probably calling for its companions, so she ignored it and just looked at it indifferently.

When it sensed something was wrong, its eyelids gradually began to grow heavy, and drowsiness suddenly descended upon it. Like a trapped beast, it stared at Cheng Shuang unwillingly until it could no longer hold on and fell into a deep sleep.

The skinny boy floated in the water with his eyes closed, and was swept far away by the current, instantly becoming a white dot.

A strange, mournful sigh reached her consciousness. Cheng Shuang got up and looked out towards the bamboo house in the very center.

Soon, a figure wearing a black cloak staggered out. The young man's face was pale, his eyes were lifeless, and his clothes were covered in bloodstains and tears. Upon closer inspection, the tears were of varying sizes and looked rather strange.

Du Jun winked at Cheng Shuang, his peach blossom eyes no longer showing any unfamiliarity, his indifference tinged with tender affection. As he approached, his black cloak floated from his side back to Cheng Shuang's head, playfully rubbing against her forehead.

Upon seeing this, Du Jun slightly curved the corners of his mouth, making the bloody hole on one side of his cheek even more terrifying.

Cheng Shuang then noticed the wound on Du Jun's face, and her pupils suddenly contracted. Her little brother was disfigured!

Not only was he disfigured, but there were also numerous tears in Du Jun's clothes, some of which had not yet fully dried into scars. It was clear that most of these wounds were bite marks.

The most severe wound was on the chest and abdomen, as if it had been ripped open from top to bottom by a sharp blade...

Whether it's the white pill or the pink pill, the primary focus is on repairing the fatal wounds, proceeding gradually. Effects like scar removal become secondary. One can only imagine the inhuman suffering and torment that Du Jun endured.

Cheng Shuang instinctively reached for the powder pills, but Du Jun, who was sitting against the wooden railing, raised his hand to stop her, saying, "Save some."

Cheng Shuang frowned and gave a cold snort, "I won't go with someone who's a burden."

Du Jun was taken aback, tilted his head to look at the little girl, and seeing that her face was pale, immediately asked, "Are you hurt?"

Cheng Shuang stared at him coldly without speaking. Du Jun then examined her on his own. Seeing that the girl didn't have any serious injuries that hadn't healed, he breathed a sigh of relief and said in a hoarse voice with a hint of understanding, "She's a yandere!"

The little girl was still staring at him.

Unable to resist her gaze, Du Jun pursed his lips and, like any doting older brother, reluctantly obeyed, eating one white and one red dish. Once the large wound on his chest and abdomen had completely healed, his complexion gradually improved.

"Let's get out of here right away." The amphibious vehicle is too conspicuous and easily spotted, and its speed is also a concern. After thinking for a moment, he took out a 'Dragon Boat Race Card'. As the name suggests, the faster the teams behind catch up, the faster the race card will make the dragon boat run.

Cheng Shuang, however, disagreed. Like a willful little princess, she refused to leave without giving a reason.

Du Jun frowned slightly. Even though Cheng Shuang's yandere tendencies were acting up, it didn't mean she didn't understand the seriousness of the matter. In the end, Du Jun compromised unconditionally once again, sitting foolishly with the little girl on the roof of the middle bamboo house, waiting for the main group to return.

Unlike the other village, in this village, when the human-headed fish transform into humans, they are mostly young and strong men and women. When they see the two people on the roof, the greed in their dead fish eyes and the drool at the corners of their mouths are enough to make them feel disgusted and vomit, and they will also feel trembling and fearful.
