Chapter 620 The Boy Who Looked Like a Corpse

After finishing his phone call, the man wandered around the hotel area.

Cheng Shuang pulled Qianli along and crouched down to run towards the room. They would also be spending the weekend at Shendu Mountain, so she wasn't in a hurry to find out what the man looked like.

As she was about to push open the door to the combined room, she inadvertently turned her head and saw Qianli's tense face and the cold sweat streaming down it.

Qianli wiped her forehead with her sleeve, her emotions unstable as she silently asked, "Is it a ghost?"

Cheng Shuang was taken aback for a moment, then shook her head with a wry smile and replied, "No, I just want to be more careful."

Qianli nodded in agreement, "We should be careful." As he spoke, he pushed the door for Cheng Shuang, but the door wouldn't open. He immediately looked towards the door and increased the force.

The door remained completely still.

Cheng Shuang frowned and listened intently, but couldn't hear a sound. She then gripped the talisman tightly, pushed off with her foot, and in an instant, the door moved.

Qianli, who was pushing the door hard, lost control and rolled inside first, followed by Cheng Shuang.

The narrow, shared room had somehow transformed into a dimly lit underwater world, with only a few flashlights casting eerie glows from the bottom. Dozens of figures swam about in the water. The students who could swim smiled, while those who couldn't looked pained, clutching their throats, their faces contorted in agony.

Qianli unconsciously gulped down a couple of mouthfuls of water, and immediately felt better after remembering that he could swim. Even though he knew something was wrong, he still circled around Cheng Shuang excitedly, like a mermaid, with a childlike expression.

Cheng Shuang stood at the doorway, looking back at the slightly ajar door. Outside was the normal world, which only highlighted the abnormality inside.

Her gaze swept over every cheerful face as they swam around, even though they were completely different from the students who couldn't swim. Cheng Shuang still knew that time was running out.

When everyone realizes they are tired and starts thinking about getting out of the water to breathe, they will suffer the same fate as those classmates who can't swim.

Therefore, Cheng Shuang must find the 'ghost' as soon as possible.

There were 31 students, 15 girls and 16 boys. Most of them were moving around, with only a few anxiously surrounding their close friends who were "drowning." The rest of them were like lively little fish, darting in and out.

Cheng Shuang pulled Qianli back and wrote a few words directly in his palm.

Qianli's relaxed and cheerful expression vanished as if he had just noticed the strange behavior of some of his classmates. He widened his eyes, nodded repeatedly, took the rope from Cheng's hands, and quickly swam towards the nearest boy.

While Qianli was counting the number of boys, Cheng Shuang also started counting the number of girls. Fortunately, some of the girls preferred quiet and imagined themselves as mermaids, leaning against the table, admiring themselves in the mirror or swinging their legs (their imagined fish tails) to amuse themselves, so counting them was not difficult.

Including myself, that makes a total of 15 girls.

After confirming, Cheng Shuang immediately looked for Qianli.

Perhaps 'awakened' by her, Qianli was less at ease in the water than the other active boys, and his swimming movements were slightly clumsy. His rope only tied to the legs of six people, who were either unable to swim themselves or childhood friends who couldn't swim, making them very easy to identify.

The remaining boys continued to run around the room.

Cheng Shuang counted them briefly and found that there was indeed one extra person.

She only attended school for one day, so naturally she wasn't familiar with her classmates. The one she managed to tie up was definitely fine, but what about the others…?

The little girl's gaze was darting around; what could she do to make these naughty boys stop?

It seems there really is!

Her gaze settled on the girls, and she quickly wrote a note, showing it to each of them one by one.

Sure enough, the girls who could swim sprang into action, swimming one by one to their childhood sweethearts with whom they had a good relationship. Some pulled on their ears, some tugged on their arms, and the gentlest of all was holding hands.

They huddled together in pairs, and even Yumi held down one of the boys' heads, the two of them grabbing his neck and swimming towards Cheng Shuang.

Apart from Yoshida standing beside Senri, there was only one other figure darting around in the water.

At this moment, all the students obviously realized that there was an outsider among them. The beautiful illusion of the 'mermaid' was shattered instantly. Reason returned, and they all looked anxiously at the few people whose faces were ashen. They wanted to open their mouths and shout something, but what came out was a series of bubbles.

Cheng Shuang had no underwater equipment to use, and the safe house was much larger than the combined room, so it couldn't fit everything.

She thought for a moment, then tossed two medical oxygen pillows to Chisato and Yumi, hoping they could help relieve the pain of the children who thought they were drowning.

She quickly bent her legs, aimed at the target, and shot off towards the dark figure swimming in the 'water'.

This wasn't actually underwater, so there was no tremor from the current. The 'ghost,' engrossed in its play, didn't notice anyone rushing towards it. Only when it realized its playmates were gone did it begin to look around in displeasure.

As soon as it turned around, a small projectile hit its belly squarely and slapped it across the face.

The pain in my stomach was bearable, but the pain on my face was unbearable.

The talisman was pressed tightly against its face, and sparks of lightning flew everywhere. Because it was personally experiencing the attack of lightning, and was also the creator of the water illusion, this 'ghost' felt extremely uncomfortable. The lightning seemed to be scorching not its flesh, but its soul, as if it were being whipped by an iron whip, causing unbearable pain.

In order to protect itself, it decisively removed the 'underwater' barrier.
