Chapter 621 Overindulgent Parents

The class teacher shook off the teacher who was a step behind and hurriedly pushed open the door. When she saw the students in the class huddled together, trembling, but unharmed, she immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

For the first time, the young teacher showed an angry expression, sternly scolding with her hands on her hips, "What are you all doing? The students downstairs and the other guests still need to sleep. Don't you know you're disturbing their rest..."

While scolding them, she followed the fearful gazes of her classmates and looked curiously in their direction.

The 'ghost' that was baring its teeth and roaring in mid-air was in increasing pain, and its expression was extremely ferocious. Its cries and screams were both eerie and miserable.

The class teacher stared at it, speechless, her mouth agape in disbelief. Then, she rolled her eyes and fell into the arms of the second teacher who entered.

"It's Shota! Oh my god, how could it be Shota!" The boss and his wife, who arrived shortly after, exclaimed. The wife grabbed the boss's hand and urged, "Quickly go and find Shota's parents." The boss immediately turned and ran towards the door. In his haste, he bumped into the door frame, but he didn't have time to pay attention to the brief pain and hurriedly ran out.

The teacher was awakened by the landlady's scream. She sat up straight, pushed her colleagues aside, and staggered to her feet, trying to pull all the children standing in the room out.

Fortunately, the teacher who helped her up persuaded her to stop. The two of them, afraid of alerting the students, waved to them cautiously and tremblingly.

They were still children, and remained in a daze throughout. If Cheng Shuang hadn't broken the illusion, they wouldn't have been able to distinguish between reality and illusion. Even when they realized they had been attacked by ghosts, their descriptions were incoherent.

He didn't even understand how he was rescued.

"Perhaps Mrs. Xiang was lonely; he didn't mean to hurt anyone!" The proprietress clasped her hands together, her face trembling with sadness, on the verge of tears.

Qianli glanced at Cheng Shuang, keeping his mouth tightly shut. Although he really wanted to expose the landlady's lie, for some reason, he didn't want his friend to become the target of public criticism or be noticed by those with ulterior motives.

Every talisman he uses is one less available. There have been too many ghosts and monsters lately, and he can't let Yuko lose her life-saving item.

Several classmates who had experienced the feeling of suffocation spoke up for Qianli, angrily retorting, "It almost suffocated me!"

"I'm about to drown!"

"It wasn't playing with us at all! The feeling of drowning was very real!"

Chiyo's friend, who had been by their side the whole time, agreed, "Yes, Chiyo's face turned bright red from holding it in!"

"Yes! Yes! Shuichi can't swim at all!"

The children started complaining all at once, and the teachers' expressions changed drastically as they looked at the landlady with reproach.

The proprietress stammered, "Perhaps, perhaps Shota didn't realize the danger of doing this!"

"It looks about ten years old, about the same age as our students. How come it can't even think of basic common sense!" the class teacher asked, frustrated and indignant.

The proprietress waved her hands repeatedly, "It was a good child when it was alive!" Finally, under the unfriendly gazes of the teachers and students, she gave in, bowed, and said, "I'm sorry, I was too talkative!" She paused, then sighed, "After all, something like this has never happened in our shop before."

Cheng Shuang inexplicably thought of that ugly doll. Although it had been pieced together by the proprietress, the doll had obviously lost its original liveliness. It was either completely destroyed along with the painting or too badly injured to show itself for the time being.

Given the doll's obsessive personality, even if Shota wanted to come in and cause trouble, he probably wouldn't be able to.

Ghosts and monsters have a strong sense of territory.

The owner and his wife of another hotel arrived quickly. Unlike the gloomy expression she had when facing Cheng Shuang, the landlady covered her mouth and burst into tears upon seeing Shota trapped in the void. "Shota, my Shota, my son, why won't you come out to see your mother! Your mother misses you so much!"

"Shota, come to Daddy!" Shota's father also had tears in his eyes. "Daddy has sensed Shota several times. Why won't Shota show himself and come to see Daddy?"

He quickly walked to Shota's side, trying to hug his son, but his outstretched arms repeatedly missed. Shota's mother was too weak to even scream anymore, and looked at her parents with a pitiful expression of dying.

"Shota, what's wrong!" Shota's mother cried out in panic as she saw him growing weaker and weaker. "Do you need human blood? Do you need to replenish your strength?"

She took two steps into the room, anxiously searching left and right, and finally found a slightly sharp object—a ballpoint pen. She picked it up and slashed her arm hard.

The class teacher quickly grabbed her hand to stop her, and the shop owner and his wife also spoke up to comfort her.

"Calm down!" Shota's father roared in anguish. His eyes were bloodshot, like a wild beast that had lost its cub. He looked at everyone in the room with a gloomy gaze before turning to carefully observe Shota's condition.

Cheng Shuang's heart skipped a beat, and she secretly tugged at Qianli, who was about to speak.

Sure enough, Shota's father saw the talisman and ripped it off. The ineffective talisman immediately turned to ashes. Fortunately, it had completed its mission and successfully restrained Shota, and was about to lose its effect anyway.

Once Shota was free, he didn't linger. He shook himself and then disappeared.

Shota's mother wanted to stop her, but then she stopped, turned away to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes, and became much calmer.

Beneath the sorrowful expression lay a multitude of emotions.

Shota's father looked gloomy as he saw the ashes left on his hand by the talisman.

Qianli frowned and clenched his small fists tightly. He hadn't been immersed in the illusion for too long, and he had a more direct impression of the classmates who were suffering. Therefore, he was very dissatisfied with the actions of Xiangtai's parents.

Shota is a ghost, a ghost who wants to kill and puts it into action.

Although it was unsuccessful, it does not mean that it is safe and innocent.

Yoshida, being more perceptive, shouted angrily, "Was it your son who caused Maki's injury?!"

The class teacher then remembered this incident. She had been so moved by the bond between mother and son that she had overlooked reality. Now that her senses had returned, she exploded.

"You say your son needs blood? What do you mean? Wasn't my student falling off the artificial hill an accident?!"

“It was an accident!” Shota’s father said firmly.

"I don't believe it!" The teacher pressed on, her lips pressed tightly. "What you just said is the truth. Your son, Shota, caused my student's accident!"

Shota's mother immediately changed her attitude, bowing deeply, "I'm very sorry, regardless of whether it's Shota's fault or not, we are willing to compensate!"

"This isn't about compensation!" The class teacher tried to argue, but was stopped by the other teachers. They knew it was too late to say anything. Shota seemed to have already been punished. Arguing with his parents, who spoiled and indulged their devilish son, would not bring any benefit and might even anger them with a bunch of fallacies.
