Looking at these ghosts, the police officer sighed with satisfaction, "If we can win by sheer numbers, aren't we guaranteed to win?"
“No, you’re wrong. It’s not ‘us,’ it’s ‘us’,” Sihai corrected.
The officer glanced behind him at the toddler rolling on the ground, clutching his little feet, and nodded sadly. "Yes, it's you."
“Although the rules set by the Gate of Reincarnation are that the maintainers must successfully escape from the ghosts,” Yamei reminded, “I think our greatest enemy is not only the ghosts, but also the maintainers.”
"I'm afraid the maintainers will be too busy to take care of themselves." Du Jun murmured softly. The cool young man looked ahead and saw a rustling sound, like the wind, coming from the depths of the beautiful green forest.
But now there's no wind, and it's extremely hot.
Everyone should be on high alert.
"Why don't we run away!"
Cheng Shuang glanced at the police officer who was trembling with fear as he offered his suggestion, and seriously suspected that the officer's haggard appearance was entirely due to being so frightened by the ghost that he had lost his sleep.
"Where do you want to run to?" she asked back.
The officer pointed behind him, about to speak, but his throat seemed to be blocked by something, making a hoarse, rattling sound.
The group turned to look immediately and saw that the police officer's face was deathly pale, his pupils dilated, as if he had seen the most terrifying thing in the world.
That's really scary!
Cheng Shuang frowned slightly. From the forest behind them, separated by a stream, emerged a huge, dark centipede, as long as a python. As soon as it appeared, it leaped halfway across the stream, forcing the two protectors who were running in that direction to turn back.
The most disgusting thing is that this giant worm has an upper body like a human woman, arms that are black like withered bones, and a face with only insect-shaped pupils and a mouth that reveals four sharp teeth.
"It's Centipede King!" Ono exclaimed in shock, dropping his cigarette. "Have we entered the world of Inuyasha?"
"Inuyasha?" Cheng Shuang asked, puzzled. "What is that?"
“A monster manga,” Du Jun replied briefly.
Si Hai flipped his hand and took out a firearm, saying seriously, "The monsters in R country are nothing more than a few kinds. Now we should think about how to escape from it."
"It's not that!" Yami looked around, her voice trembling. "It's them!"
The group suddenly realized that a centipede-like creature with a human face and an insect body had appeared in each of the four directions. It was clear that although they resembled centipedes, they were no longer simple giant insects, but monsters that had cultivated for at least a thousand years and were about to transform into human form.
The two protectors, being chased by the centipede, frantically tried to find Cheng Shuang and the others for help, but they had no tamed monsters to help them, nor did they seem to have any weapons to deal with monsters.
In a mere instant, the centipede-legged monster caught up with them. The female-faced demon raised its arms and easily grabbed the two of them.
In the blink of an eye, the human-shaped face transformed into a demonic face and bit off both of their heads.
"They...don't even have weapons?" the officer asked in surprise. He was a police officer and had a gun in his hand. He held the weapon up and shielded Yami and Ono to his side.
“They probably gave all the good stuff to the station chief!” Yamei pushed aside the police officer and stood beside him, blocking Ono behind her. She casually pulled out a crescent halberd that was completely different from her image. Her posture was upright, and she could no longer see any fear in the face of monsters.
The crescent halberd was a weapon once used by Gan Ning and Gan Xingba, and it was difficult for ordinary generals to wield.
Cheng Shuang's eyes lit up; she loved girls with a charmingly contrasting personality.
Du Jun's lips twitched. He shielded the little girl behind him and also pulled out a firearm.
"Two of each!" With that, Sihai launched a long-range attack, wielding a UZI and mainly aiming at the eyes and mouth of the centipede on his side, while the vampires behind him leaped away in a flurry, choosing to engage in close combat.
Yami and the police officer exchanged a glance. The snow woman flicked her fingertips, and snowflakes drifted down, gradually freezing the approaching monsters in place. Only then did the two rush over and launch a coordinated attack.
Du Jun waved his hand, and the handsome young man slowly walked over to meet another centipede. Facing the other's eerie face, it opened its mouth sarcastically, "You're too ugly!"
"She should die of ugliness!"
"Even if you're ugly, you'll trip yourself up!"
"Even if I don't die from being tripped up, I'll disgust myself to death!"
Amidst all sorts of vicious words, Cheng Shuang silently pulled out a laser beam. She felt that... wait? The centipede was crying, it was crying... Under everyone's watchful eyes, the monster turned around and ran away whimpering. Just as it disappeared into the edge of the forest, there was a thud, the centipede broke off, and it fell to the ground, barely alive.
The handsome young man strolled back slowly, and before leaving, he gave Ryusuke a haughty look.
Ryusuke smiled but remained silent.
Seeing the situation was dire, the last centipede, Shang Ai, tried to run away, but Ono shot an arrow at it, injuring its arm. As blood flowed, the demon he had tamed moved, and a black shadow swept across the ground, following the blood and entering the wounded centipede's body.
The monster's roars and screams echoed through the heavens and earth. As it was gradually tortured to death, the other two were also dealt with.
The vampires of the world are quite powerful. Putting aside everything else, their physique and speed are hard for any monster to match. In addition, having come to the world of monsters, they have lost their fear of sunlight, making them even more capable of taking on ten at once.
Basically, once the vampires have pierced even a tiny bit of flesh on the centipede's body, they devour the monster like wild beasts.
In comparison, Yami's methods seemed much gentler. At least the centipede Shang Ai, which she chopped into pieces, was frozen stiff before it died and did not suffer too much pain.
Of course, the one that died the most undignified death was probably the one that the handsome young man sent by Du Jun was dealing with. It lay pitifully on the ground, blood flowing everywhere, its face full of the sorrow of being at the mercy of others.
Finally, the little girl couldn't bear to see it suffer any longer, so she took out her Tang sword and helped it ascend to heaven and be freed.
"It's best not to stay here too long." Ono stubbed out his cigarette and said with a smile, "It's said that the flesh of a yokai is a great tonic for yokai as well."
Seeing Cheng Shuang looking at him curiously, he shrugged, "I learned it from comics."
Regardless of whether it was right or wrong, they didn't want to take any risks, so they collected the corpses of the centipede they had killed and chose a direction by flipping a coin.
After they left, the lesser demons hidden in the shadows swarmed over, licking the remaining blood and scattered pieces of flesh on the ground. A war broke out among the lesser demons, with some taking the opportunity to improve themselves, while others died in the mouths of other demons.
The law of the jungle prevails over all times of war.
The six people, far from the mountains and fields, walked along streams, through forests, and strolled around.
The Slit-Mouthed Woman led the way, wielding large scissors, while the vampire brought up the rear. Cheng Shuang, carrying fried rice with eggs, walked in the middle, holding Junxiong's hand. "Shouldn't we find the location of the Gate of Hell?"
"Let's see if there are any houses," the officer said.
"Is it the Ghost Family?" Yamei asked with a smile.
Sihai and Dujun walked in front of and behind Cheng Shuang. Their first attempt at teamwork was quite successful, making the atmosphere of the whole group more friendly and harmonious.
The fact that ghosts and monsters are easier to deal with than I imagined is the biggest motivation.
