Cheng Shuang raised an eyebrow; it turned out to be a double lock.
She knew it! A padlock alone isn't enough to stop the maintenance workers!
The little girl didn't want to run away. Exploring this level of space thoroughly was pointless; there were eight more levels above. She preferred to fight her way up and see what kind of people those so-called big shots among the wanderers really were.
So when Edren arrived after hearing the news, he saw a little girl sitting properly on the edge of the bed greeting him, and a mechanical arm sparking electricity all over the floor.
The little girl smiled sweetly, seemingly oblivious to his darkened expression. "Hey, look how well-behaved I am, not running around or causing trouble. Can I apply to do some practice problems?"
Aside from Edren's face darkening even more, several of his men behind him couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Edren had lost all interest in lecturing him. He waved his hand dismissively, saying, "Whatever!" With that, he turned and left, not wanting to stay any longer.
Although Cheng Shuang made it clear that she wouldn't run away, those powerful officials weren't to be trifled with; what if they were in a bad mood and started to reprimand her...?
So Edren ordered a few of his men to stay behind and guard the door until the repairmen put the electronic equipment back in place.
Unbeknownst to Edren, the instant he turned around, a shrunken black cloak brushed against his shadow and slowly disappeared.
Of course, he was never worried about being followed, since neither living beings nor advanced intelligent machines could escape the 'eyes and ears' bestowed by the master.
Edren sneered, pushed open the office door, and waited for a red scanning line to sweep over his entire body before stepping inside.
