Cheng Shuang didn't give him much of a chance to argue; she struck the man's eye and instantly distanced herself.
Aside from contemplating death, why can't we put up a fight?
Who hasn't faced death with their comrades, and who hasn't fought alone?
She could understand the man's despair, so she was willing to take up arms and kill all the enemies, but that didn't mean she approved of his way of escaping by ending in death.
The man clutched his eyes, tears streaming down his face. He hissed several times, then forced a bitter laugh, "Just give me a quick death!"
For him, death was a relief.
Cheng Shuang's face tightened. "Win or lose, there's only one choice."
The man suddenly looked up, gritting his teeth, "You broke your promise!" His eyes were red and swollen, the fierceness gone, replaced by a look of grievance.
The young girl then realized that although the man looked old, he was not old at all, only in his early twenties.
"I never agreed to that."
The man wiped his face in anger and warned in a dark voice, "If I win, you will be seriously injured. Do you think you'll have a good time in the second match after being seriously injured?!"
"That's my business," she replied indifferently, then with a flick of her arm, a Tang sword appeared.
Cheng Shuang needs to conserve her strength and attack with her weakest martial arts skills. Regardless of the outcome, it will be a chance to hone her skills.
Of course, this doesn't mean she was so careless as to try to fight a losing battle by using her weaknesses to counter the opponent's strengths.
The reason she changed into a hoodie was because Luo An was hiding inside the large hood. If he discovered that the man's feigned weakness was a ruse to kill her and win the competition, Luo An could instantly get her out of danger.
Cheng Shuang doesn't think that being competitive and winning all the way is a good thing.
If there are genuine investors, the higher you go, the more likely you are to attract the attention of homeless people and thus draw in so-called investments.
It now appears that the wanderers of this land of death are intelligent beings. After decades, nearly a century, they are fully capable of controlling the entire planet and even possess human-like social relationships.
Being monitored and constantly under surveillance only makes it more difficult for the maintainer to extricate themselves.
As the man wiped his face, he accidentally dripped something into his eyes. The moment he lowered his hand, two laser beams shot out from his palm and struck Cheng Shuang, who was not far away.
Cheng Shuang narrowed her eyes, crouched down, and kicked the man in the stomach.
The man instinctively protected his private parts, and the laser instantly burned his clothes.
The clothes reeked of burning, but the man's body was unharmed. The little girl, who had crouched down, grabbed the man's tattered clothes with one hand, slid down, and pulled him down heavily. Then she swung her Tang sword, aiming straight for the man's neck.
The man's hair stood on end, and the next second he rolled over in a sorry state, the Tang sword grazing his head before plunging into the grass.
He could no longer care about the pain in his sensitive areas. His instinct for self-preservation kicked in, and he quickly got up and distanced himself from Cheng Shuang.
Cheng Shuang sneered, "Didn't you want to die?"
The man's face was pale and he was covered in cold sweat. He was incredulous and doubtful of himself. "You...you didn't want to help me, did you?"
"Help you? I'm not an executioner!" The girl coldly shattered his illusion. "Losing means death, winning means survival. You think this is child's play? Why should I help you?"
Anything else to say? Let's fight!
The man was thoroughly angered by Cheng Shuang's provocation and became serious. For a moment, neither of them could find a way to defeat the other. As long as he prevented Cheng Shuang from getting close, the Tang sword's attack would be useless, and ranged attacks were obviously the man's forte.
They continued until both were exhausted, their clothes tattered and their bodies covered in wounds, gazing at each other from afar.
Although neither won nor lost, both of them gave it their all. The big boss behind the scenes seemed to be getting impatient, and the number one gate suddenly opened, with a deafening roar echoing through the sky inside.
The man's face was ashen as he glared at the gate and said angrily, "I knew they would pull this trick!"
Cheng Shuang stared at him in astonishment, "Didn't you want to die? This is such a perfect opportunity!"
"Shut up!"
The man angrily wiped the sweat from his stinging eyes. "I want a quick death, not to become a monster's meal."
"Who dies doesn't matter what dish it is." Cheng Shuang sneered, twisting her wrist and twirling a knife to test her strength. "After death, you're just fed bacteria anyway."
"Bullshit, are bacteria enemies? Are they enemies?" The man felt incredibly wronged and misunderstood. "Monsters become stronger after eating the Protectors..."
"Then don't let it eat it!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the little girl, who was the same height as the weapon, flashed in front of the monster like a shadow and swung her knife at the monster's neck.
"Didn't I tell you its armor is impossible to break through!?" The man's bloodshot eyes emitted a laser that had already lost its power, but he still covered one eye, gathered his strength in the other eye, and flew towards the monster's eye.
The monster merely lowered its head slightly to look at Cheng Shuang, easily avoiding the laser attack. Or rather, it knew that the laser couldn't break through its defenses at all. Instead, the delicious meal that had been delivered to its door was more important, especially since it was the same delicious meal that had once wounded its vitals.
It wanted to crush her into a pulp and swallow her whole.
The monster raised its foot and stomped hard on Cheng Shuang. Unbeknownst to it, an inconspicuous brown figure had already climbed onto its head, stepping over its bulky armor.
Cheng Shuang took off running backwards to avoid the monster's huge feet, but the moment the claws landed, the sharp nails snagged on the large hood, throwing the little girl to the ground.
The monster snorted triumphantly, raised its other paw, snapped its fingers together, and lifted the little girl's hood, attempting to slam it down.
But just as it lifted the person to its own height, it noticed that this wicked little delicacy now had something protecting its mouth and nose...
Then, the figure standing on the monster's head moved.
The bear cub that Luo An brought up, in one go, smashed several buckets of pepper powder and poured them out.
The monster felt a pungent smell coming from it, its two big nostrils were itchy, and it couldn't help but open its mouth wide and sneeze.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Cheng Shuang, who was hanging in mid-air, endured the stench of the monster's saliva, pulled out a laser gun, and shot it towards the monster's abyss mouth.
Blood immediately gushed from the monster's mouth, reaching the brain due to the fragility of its oral cavity walls, with streaks of blood seeping out from the gaps in its armor scales.
The young monster died, crashing to the ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.
Cheng Shuang felt as if her whole body was covered and compressed by a mountain. Her limbs, including her neck and eyelids, were so heavy that she could not move and fell straight to the ground.
Midway through, the bear cub tried to grab her, but unfortunately, she was as heavy as steel and as tall as a mountain. Her furry bear arm was immediately broken off, leaving only a large, human-shaped crater in the ground.
Bear Baby didn't dare to be careless. He had Luo An feed him half a white pill to repair his arm, and stared intently at the man at Gate Number One.
The man stepped back with his hands raised. Although he didn't know what a plush toy could do, the fact that he hadn't died meant that he wanted to live more than he thought. So... the man turned around and shouted into the sky, "Did I win? Well, at least, I didn't lose."
