Du Jun, both amused and exasperated, ruffled her hair, instantly transforming the girl's already messy shoulder-length hair into a static-filled afro.
Cheng Shuang quickly smoothed her hair and re-tied it into two small braids.
The four people stepped into the room, and the door slammed shut.
The room was pitch black except for two small nightlights flickering faintly in the corner.
"The layout doesn't seem to have changed!" Lie Fu took out his phone, turned on the flashlight, and scanned the room, only to find it completely empty.
"Why is nobody here?" Kuroko asked curiously. "We clearly gave them a mission hint."
"What hint?"
Who is the ghost?
All four of them shivered.
Suddenly, a song started playing: 'Mommy's doll loves the doll, Mommy bought the doll carrying the doll on her back, the doll kisses Mommy, kisses the doll. The doll laughs and the doll cries, the doll cries and the doll laughs, la la la la, Mommy's doll loves the doll, Mommy bought the doll carrying the doll on her back, the doll kisses Mommy, kisses the doll. The doll laughs and the doll makes a fuss, the doll cries and the doll laughs…'
The lyrics, simple yet illogical, repeat back and forth, echoing endlessly. Gradually, it becomes impossible to distinguish which is the main melody and which is the echo. The lyrics, haunting and irresistibly forceful, invade the eardrums, adding a touch of eeriness and gloom to this not-so-spacious, dark space.
Cheng quickly hugged his teddy bear, and the four friends huddled together tightly. Encountering ghosts was so scary!
The little girl said with a pitiful look, "I want to thank Auntie!"
