Chapter 672 The Nine-Story Building 19

The suite was indeed much larger than the one on the fifth floor, with an inner and outer room and a place to receive guests.

In the main bedroom, there was a small window, and outside the window was a deep twilight.

It is called "Ya Ya" because it is pitch black outside, accompanied by the dull creaking sound of machinery, which sounds like the cawing of a crow.

As long as the windows are closed, the sound insulation is quite good.

The rooms below the sixth floor are enclosed. When he finally saw the window in the suite, Du Lanshan ignored the noise and opened the window, revealing a deep expression.

"What's wrong?" Liao Yuewei crossed her arms and walked over. "Do you want to go look out the window? It feels a bit dangerous!"

"More than that!" Du Lanshan gestured for her to look at her feet.

Liao Yuewei looked over and saw several broken branches on the ground near the window. Before she could figure out what had happened, she heard her companion sigh with relief, "Luckily, I didn't recklessly stick my head out. Being cautious can save your life!"

It was only then that Liao Yuewei realized that Du Lanshan wasn't pondering something, but was startled by the strange sight outside the window.

"I just stretched out these few dry branches, and a gust of wind blew them away, and they broke off." Du Lanshan clicked his tongue, still gazing out the window. "I hope the environment outside hasn't really changed to that state, to the point that the natives can only rely on the lord for survival."

Cheng Shuang was washing up with the door open, so she heard their conversation. She tossed the towel she was using to rub her wet hair into the bathroom, walked over, took out a can of soda from her storage compartment, and handed it to them, saying, "Try this, just in case the wind isn't so bad!"

Du Lanshan took it and shoved it out the window without hesitation. With a crisp crack, before the three of them could even react, their minds were already sending out warning signals that they should dodge.

The half-eaten can, along with the liquid, bounced back quickly. They squatted below the window, watching helplessly as the can pierced the opposite wall, exchanging a silent glance.

Du Lanshan stood up, coughed lightly, pulled down the glass window he had just lifted, and locked it securely again.

Cheng Shuang ran to the opposite wall, placed something under her, and tried to pull the can off.

After a great deal of effort, the broken can fell into my hand, its cross-section now cone-shaped, which allowed it to be easily pierced into the wall.

This also illustrates just how dangerous it is outside.

"How about we take a walk around the common areas?" Liao Yuewei suggested. Since the situation outside the window was unclear, they should figure out the internal structure first.

Cheng Shuang and Du Lanshan naturally wouldn't object. The male receptionist had reminded them that the public areas were open 24 hours a day, outside of performance times, and perhaps the return tickets were hidden in some inconspicuous corner.

Even if they wanted to go deep into the ninth floor, they would feel more at ease if they had their return tickets in hand as soon as possible.

The three split into two groups: Liao Yuewei and Cheng Shuang went to the entertainment room, while Du Lanshan went to the bar alone.

The entertainment room is more like an old-fashioned arcade, with dim lighting, festive music from 3D arcade machines, and a stuffy, stagnant atmosphere.

There weren't many people inside; most were staff members in uniforms. They seemed to be under a lot of pressure, which is why they were in the recreation room.

Liao Yuewei took Cheng Shuang's hand and quickly looked around. She noticed something: just as the male receptionist had said, there were no children in the arena, but the staff were not surprised by Cheng Shuang's appearance. Even the men and women with badges with the numbers seven or eight on their chests only glanced at them briefly before looking away without any surprise.

Does this mean that all the indigenous people from the first to the ninth floor know of Cheng Shuang's existence?

In contrast to them, there were humanoid monsters.

The reason why humanoid monsters can be distinguished from humans is that humanoid monsters all have certain biological characteristics in their appearance.

For example, a woman playing a dance machine keeps moving her feet, but can stretch her arms infinitely, trying to pinch the little girl's soft cheeks. When Cheng Shuang avoids her gaze and focuses on her, it smiles and reveals a mouth that looks like a black hole.

Indigenous humans don't deform their bodies, and maintainers certainly wouldn't waste their skills on such trivial matters.

The other party was undoubtedly a humanoid monster.

"Oh dear, I haven't seen any invaders in a long time."

In the dim light, people were whispering.

Liao Yuewei suppressed the urge to look over, and instead pricked up her ears to listen to what they might be saying.

"That's right, the last wave reached level nine about half a month ago, right?"

"I know, I heard from monsters who came down from the ninth floor that those three people are deadly weapons, and they're really cunning!"

"Isn't it said that if the invaders are strong enough, they can leave?"

"That's why those three are such a powerful weapon; they themselves refused to leave."

"If they were to face off, it would be quite a show!"

"Hahaha, usually it's the big shots watching our performances, but now we can finally see a show put on by the invaders themselves!"

Cheng Shuang lowered her head silently. She had searched around specifically and hadn't seen anyone whispering in the shadows. Now, it seemed as if these conversations were being told to them.

Another group of maintainers?

Why are they unwilling to leave?

Could it be that you couldn't find a return ticket?

Still haven't found the correct return location?

Liao Yuewei, holding Cheng Shuang's hand, sat in an external tank-shaped game console slot, swiped her room card to start the device, and used the device's own music to muffle the words that came out, "Something's not right... I mean, they're too deliberate!"

"It's like a deliberate notification that once we reach the ninth floor, we'll inevitably experience a battle where the maintainers kill each other." Cheng Shuang puffed out her cheeks, looking puzzled. "Would anyone really stay just to kill?"
