Chapter 680 Nine-Story Building 27

The backyard was originally divided into two parts: a small garden on the left and an ancestral hall on the right.

After the three separated, Liao Yuewei encountered a similar situation, the same thing in a different guise. The only difference was that Cheng Shuang burned two 'servants' to death, while Liao Yuewei and Du Lanshan killed several 'guests' who were made up of little spiders and had come to make a ruckus in the bridal chamber (to watch the ceremony).

"If we don't count the little spiders, there should be at least four more human-faced spider monsters hiding." Liao Yuewei cautiously observed her surroundings. They had each eliminated two enemies, and the rest were nowhere to be found.

Now the moon is high in the sky outside the abandoned house, the cawing of crows has ceased, and at the same time, the chirping of insects begins, carrying the unique charm of summer. In what should be a quiet night, it is as noisy as ever.

Cheng Shuang whispered to the two of them about how the red candles inside the big red lantern had turned into cards. They immediately got ready to start, planning to do both the monster hunt and the treasure hunt at the same time, without delaying either.

There was no way for anyone to hide inside or outside the house, or on the pointed roof ridge, so the only place left was underground.

They quickly went to the backyard, picked up the two broken lanterns that had fallen to the ground, and then put on gloves to touch every piece of furniture and decoration that might be a card.

Aside from a handful of dust, there was practically nothing to show for it, though quite a few small spiders were killed along the way.

...It always gives me the feeling of a kid on the street bullying an ant!

Since they hadn't found anything, the three of them didn't linger and went straight back to the front yard, their eyes fixed on the well.

The strange creature refused to let the Dragon Flame burn away its spider silk. Cheng Shuang knew its grievances and didn't want to force it. She comforted it in her mind and then sent Luo An to scout ahead.

Sure enough, the well was the spider's lair, with insects of all sizes occupying several dry tunnels. The little bit of damp silt at the bottom of the well now seemed more like a disguise.

The living environments of ordinary spiders vary, but the human-faced spider monster probably prefers dry places, which is why there is so much dust in the abandoned house, and that bed is a completely 'captivating' prop.

Liao Yuewei couldn't help but look at the bucket of water hanging in the window frame, clicking her tongue in amazement, "It even knows how to hydrate itself!"

Du Lanshan and Luo An confirmed the number of spiders and immediately had a good idea. He took out a small grenade and winked at his two companions.

Cheng Shuang made a gesture to stop being impulsive, indicating that Du Lanshan and Liao Yuewei should leave first, while she and Luo An would stay behind.

Luo An's teleportation ability would have allowed him to escape the scene just as the grenade exploded.

Du Lanshan and Liao Yuewei nodded silently, pretending to discuss where the enemy might be hiding, but their feet were moving towards the gate.

Once they were far from the abandoned house, they gradually slowed their pace until a loud bang caused the earth to shake, and the smell of gunpowder spread over them. Suddenly, a little girl appeared beside them.

Cheng Shuang patted Luo An's short hair approvingly, exchanged a glance with her companion, and looked at the slowly opening gate.

As the victorious trio entered the hall, a broadcast was playing: "Congratulations to the fighters from Zones C and D for breaking the time records of Zones F, R, and X, perfectly eliminating their opponents within five hours, and earning them a Preferred Card."

'Congratulations to the fighters from Zones C and D for breaking the time records of Zones F, R, and X, perfectly eliminating their opponents within five hours, and earning a Preferred Card.'

'Congratulations to the fighters from Zones C and D for breaking the time records of Zones F, R, and X, perfectly eliminating their opponents within five hours, and earning a Preferred Card.'

After the three announcements were finished, everyone moving around in the hall stopped and turned to look at the person who had just walked out of the gate.

A variety of different gazes lingered on the three of them, making it seem like a public execution.

Cheng Shuang calmly raised an eyebrow. "Oh ho, it seems there can't be any secrets at all. FRX? Also three people? What a coincidence!"

"What is a Preferred Card?" Liao Yuewei tilted her head and asked the receptionist.

"You can choose your opponent at will within three days and have the right to draw scenarios."

"And then three days later?"

"Preferred card expired."

Cheng Shuang remained noncommittal. The winner of each round of the ninth floor competition would receive five days of rest. It was called a premium card, but it was no different from forcing them to move on to the next round of competition as soon as possible.

"After choosing your opponent, can you continue to rest?"

"It depends on whether the chosen opponent needs to start the next round of the competition immediately."

So everything is up to fate?!

The receptionist smiled but remained silent.

Even so, with the three-day deadline looming, the three of them still decided to use the preferential card.

None of them were injured, so it didn't matter whether they fought sooner or later. Besides, the nine-story structure was too high-tech; they had been wandering around for several days without finding a breakthrough. They decided to hold their breath and finish all three matches in one go, hoping to get a chance to meet the 'Master' up close first.

The receptionist handed Cheng Shuang a palm-sized transparent panel. After tapping it a few times, information about all the fighters on the nine floors was displayed, including headshots and simple team introductions, as well as the number of participants, the number of matches, and the win/loss ratio.

The font is densely packed, and just one glance is enough to make your eyes dizzy.

"Just state your selection criteria," the receptionist advised.

Cheng Shuang ignored it and slowly swiped the screen, observing the various opponents inside.

Most of them are humanoid monsters, with a few wild beasts that look very abstract among them. Humans are always in the minority. Even if they have a human face, it is difficult to distinguish the real from the fake by just looking at the headshot on the screen.

After scanning a few pages, she tilted her head and looked at Liao Yuewei and Du Lanshan questioningly. Liao Yuewei tied her long hair that was falling to her cheeks with a hair tie, her eyes flashing slightly, "I'm quite curious about the woman in the restaurant. Let's try searching for humans directly."

Du Lanshan: "I second that."

As soon as the word "human" appeared, the screen went completely bare, leaving only three faces.

The white-haired youth at the head of the group immediately attracted all their attention.

"Qing Nai!" Du Lanshan's breathing quickened, his eyes turning red. He suppressed his overwhelming anger, his hateful gaze unable to leave Qing Nai's face, and he didn't even notice that the woman he had met at the restaurant was among the three.

Clearly, they are both maintainers of the same rest stop and enemies of the convenience store.

When Du Lushu died tragically, Du Lanshan swore that he would personally kill the bastard who harmed his brother.

Without needing to discuss it, Cheng Shuang understood her companions' choice.

This is a rare opportunity. If you want to slay your enemy, you must not be timid or hesitant, otherwise the next encounter may never come.

Settle scores as soon as possible; why would you want to keep the other person happy to celebrate the New Year together?

"Let's choose them," Cheng Shuang said to the receptionist with a smile.

Liao Yuewei glanced at the match results on the screen and raised an eyebrow slightly. "Nine consecutive wins!"

Du Lanshan spoke in a sinister tone, "Very good, perfect in every way. He can die in peace now!"

The host, not being human and lacking an emotional system, paid no attention to the personal grudges between the fighters. It stated in a businesslike manner, "The arena has been notified. The next round of matches will begin in four hours. Please, the three fighters, draw lots to select your arenas."
