Chapter 697 Return to Animal Planet 5

Sihu has hated human pets since birth. Ever since those human pets that his uncles had kept by their side died of old age, he felt that the air in the South Canyon was much fresher.

It just couldn't understand. What was so good about human pets? They were dirty, weak, and fragile, good for nothing except shivering. They didn't have warm fur, and they even took away the affection of its beloved uncle.

Oh, right, they also eat a lot, and after eating they poop in huge clumps. Without animals to take care of them, they don't even know how to bury their own feces.

You have to understand how much effort my uncle put into safely relocating his surviving companions to the South Canyon. He was so badly injured that he almost died, and it wasn't until decades ago, after it was born, that my uncle gradually recovered.

Even so, despite his injuries, Uncle still didn't forget to take care of those few pets who were barely brave enough to be recognized. Perhaps it was because Uncle had encountered too many ambushes and battles on the way, and the smell of blood on his body lingered for a long time. Those pets would shrink into a ball whenever they saw him, completely ungrateful for Uncle's hard work and care.

Uncle was renowned in the South Canyon, but some animals still privately lamented – “The leader is really something, not getting married or having children, is he raising people like cubs?”

Whenever Sihu heard such gossip, it would become extremely angry. It shared the same blood as its uncle and was his child. When its uncle grew old, it would take care of him and love him as it would a father. What were those pets compared to that? They were nothing more than hungry, helpless animals.

But Si Hu also had to admit that the pet seemed to hold a significant place in his uncle's heart.

It remembered clearly that when it was a cub that could only run and jump, out of curiosity, it deliberately broke into a room that its uncle never opened to the public. The room was full of dirty and old machines, connected to power lines and humming, and on the machines was an outdated quantum computer. All the devices existed only to provide signals to this quantum computer.

It didn't understand why its uncle, who doted on it so much, would refuse it entry for the sake of these inanimate objects, so it jumped onto the platform where the quantum computer was placed. However, it overestimated its abilities and knocked the quantum computer off the platform as it jumped.

To this day, Sihu still remembers clearly how his uncle, who had never been angry with him before, looked as gloomy as lightning when he discovered that Sihu had broken the computer.

Even though its uncle didn't say a word of reproach, it could still see the disappointment in his expression.

Later, it pressed Uncle Fox for details and learned that the computer contained many memories of Uncle Fox and a little pet. To protect the little pet, Uncle Fox refused to transfer the pictures and videos from the computer, fearing that some malicious animals might take the opportunity to intercept certain content.

Si Hu was very dissatisfied with this answer. It was just a pet. Could it be more important than the entire South Canyon?

Moreover, when the last person died of old age, the uncle didn't seem to feel much sadness, but rather a faint sense of remembrance.

But when it pressed for an answer, it only received a mysterious and cunning shake of its head from Uncle Fox. Uncle Fox said, "You don't understand. In your uncle's heart, it's not these people who are pampered that matter."

At that moment, it nodded innocently, "I know, for Uncle, the South Canyon is important."

Uncle Fox smiled meaningfully and said, "You think too highly of your uncle. The reason he built the South Canyon was simply to prevent the animals from dying and wasting the medicine."

Sihu didn't quite believe it. Although it knew that its uncle wasn't close to the tiger clan, its uncle had always treated it very well. Its father had also said that it and its uncle were the most similar when they were young.

Uncle Fox may have sensed its doubts, but he didn't offer any explanation.

Later, as Sihu grew older, he learned about Liehu's origins and gradually understood why his uncle treated his own kind no differently from other races. Liehu's mother was a weak leopard-tiger hybrid from the north. Although she lacked the characteristics of a leopard, she was exceptionally small at birth. Liehu's mother died during childbirth, and Liehu's father was devastated, falling ill and dying soon after. The tribe believed that Liehu, orphaned, wouldn't survive to adulthood and, fearing it might carry the virus of hybrid cubs, banished it from the tribe.

If it weren't for Si Hu's father's occasional financial assistance, Lie Hu would have had a hard time surviving back then.

Now, Liehu's heroic actions have completely convinced the tiger clan of the great tiger who led them to survival, proving its own value and giving a resounding slap in the face to those tiger elders from back then.

Most importantly, it is no longer that solitary tiger.

Even though Sihu felt that his uncle was never afraid of loneliness, it even guessed that his uncle's rescue of some young tigers in the tiger clan was largely due to his father's kindness in his youth.

After Uncle established the South Canyon, he completely relinquished power. This was due to several reasons: first, his health; second, he didn't really care about power; and third, he believed he had done everything he could, and the rest was not his responsibility.

But the animals are all stubborn. They are grateful for their uncle's rescue, whether it was the mysterious medicine or how he withstood the artillery fire and led them to build a safe fortress. All of this makes them respect and love their uncle from the bottom of their hearts.

So my uncle became the leader of the South Canyon, shouldering responsibilities he shouldn't have had to bear. He became more and more serious each day, and his injuries, due to overwork, never fully healed.

But Sihu remembered the day his uncle filled the room where the quantum computer was, and finally smiled with satisfaction. After that, he gave the order that no one except himself was allowed to enter.

That's why Si Hu was so curious about what could make his usually stern uncle smile so happily and brightly, like a cub.
