As more and more people are waking up after leaving their nutrient tanks, the number of guards is decreasing.
Although many of the animals' troughs were broken, no one wanted to wake them up now and disrupt the already chaotic scene.
Most of those who woke up sat motionless, covering their faces, dazed and confused. A small group stared dumbfounded at the enormous nutrient tanks. After a while, those who came to their senses began to spontaneously organize to rescue the others trapped inside.
Perhaps they didn't know what they were doing, or even the purpose of doing so, but the guards' menacing and cold demeanor was deeply ingrained in people's minds. Especially since many familiar faces appeared among them—relatives and friends—yet their eyes were empty, and they couldn't hear any calls.
This is not a normal situation at all!
Instead, a black dragon flew in the air, acting like a guardian deity and blocking the guards who rushed over with electric batons.
Those who woke up did not hesitate for a moment longer.
As the number of awakened members grew, the entire space gradually changed.
The snow-white stone wall opposite gradually receded like ocean waves, revealing a thick, light blue glass wall.
The sky was overcast, and the amount of sand and smog in the air far exceeded human imagination.
From a distance, there was nothing outside the glass wall. If it weren't for the other three walls and the automatic door remaining unchanged, it would seem as if they were standing on an isolated island suspended in mid-air.
It seems that the more people regain their senses, the more this space transforms into reality.
What's outside the glass wall is real; what's inside the sensor door is fake.
This boundary is gradually merging and blurring.
"Stop knocking! Stop knocking!" Bai Sha, who had been hiding like a turtle, finally poked her head out. She shouted in anguish and with barely concealed worry, "It's a dead end outside! Stop knocking! Have you forgotten that it's the end of the world outside!"
"I know her!"
"I know her too!"
Many people stopped what they were doing and looked at the woman who was crying bitterly and helplessly, saying, "There are no plants, no animals, no land outside. How can we survive? Humans cannot survive!"
She still remembers!
Cheng Shuang's eyes lit up. She put away the nearly rotten wooden comb, which was probably the umpteenth one in existence, and listened carefully to what else she had to say.
As a result, Bai Sha kept repeating the same sentence. It was as if she had been struck by the apocalypse of the real world. Whenever she mentioned it, that madness once again replaced her reason.
"If there is no space for human habitation at all, how do we sustain our lives, and how does this place exist outside of the apocalypse?"
An old man sitting on the ground suddenly raised his head and shouted.
He was very old, and he stood up shakily, leaning on the broken nutrient tank beside him.
"I entered the game at fifty years old. Time in the game flows like water, passing in the blink of an eye. Look at me now, I'm at least eighty!" The old man lowered his voice slightly, questioning Bai Sha, "And you, Qin Shiqing!"
The two were old acquaintances!
The woman in white, her face pale, took a half-step back in fear and unease. "T-Teacher!"
"Back then, we went to great lengths to wake you up, and what happened to you? Why are you still living a peaceful life here? How many years have passed? Have you ever even left?"
"I have it!" The woman, driven to madness again by the interrogation, shouted angrily, "They're all dead! Everyone who came out with us starved to death!"
"Only two years have passed. The apocalypse is still here, it's still here!"
Two years!
The person who woke up raised their hand in disbelief, looking at their face, which had aged considerably in just two years, in various ways.
“It doesn’t feel like two years; it feels like twenty years have passed.”
Someone was crying, and gradually, the crying affected others.
The banging on the nutrient tank stopped, and people were gripped by extreme panic.
Leaving the game is like living in an apocalyptic world where you can't survive; staying in the game is like aging without realizing it.
"You should obey." Amidst the chaos and noise, the guards stopped moving, and a mechanical voice sounded, "I have given you peace, you should obey!"
"Games are humanity's last hope. Go back! I'll send someone to repair the nutrient tanks. You can still eat, drink, play, and enjoy the thrills in the game. Isn't that better?"
"Have you forgotten the cruelty outside? The earth shook, all creatures lost their homes and lives, and it was the existence of the game that saved you!"
You must learn to be grateful!
"You need to understand that the consequences of ending the game are quite severe. Post-apocalyptic energy is scarce, and the effects of a single loss will fully erupt when the game starts again!"
"The number of people entering the game must be reduced by at least half!"
Countless people were never even able to enter the game from the very beginning. How many bones lie buried in the sand on the ground? Why should they pay the price for your ungrateful behavior! Games are meant to save the world, but they can't save people!
"From now on, the game will only accept humans who feel grateful to the game!"
A series of mechanical sounds, like demonic chants, were sung into everyone's eardrums.
Not everyone is brave.
Someone in the crowd suddenly knelt down, clasped their hands together, and prayed loudly, "You are my savior! Please forgive my disrespect! I wish to return to the right path and do not wish to wander in this evil and fleeting world. Please grant me eternal life!"
In an instant, several more people knelt down as if brainwashed!
"I don't want to go to the apocalypse! Why are you waking me up! Please let me go back! I want to go back!"
The mechanical voice sounded again.
Do you want to know what reality is?
"This is reality!"
The white walls on both sides and the ceiling above receded like a tide, revealing thick glass walls. The sensor door disappeared, and the distant skyscrapers vanished in an instant, blown away like dust.
