Chapter 606 Kayako's Attack

Cheng Shuang patted his shoulder reassuringly, "Maybe it's Akasaka's father! It's already midnight, it's normal for him to be worried about you."

She stood up. "I'll go take a look!"

"No!" Qianli gripped Cheng Shuang's wrist tightly, hesitated for a moment before glancing at the sleeping Youmei, and finally gritted her teeth, "I'll go with you!"

Considering Kayako's elusive nature, Cheng Shuang shook her head. "Let's open the window. If it's Uncle, he'll see us."

"Great!" Qianli immediately exclaimed happily, "I'll go drive it!"

He walked to the window, opened it, and peered out. "Who is it? Who's knocking?"

No one answered!

Cheng Shuang realized this and quickly stood next to Qianli, only to see that Qianli's head was plunging lower and lower, and most of his body was already outside the window.

"Yuko, grab my leg! Someone...someone grabbed my hair!" Chisato's voice floated in the rain. The rain hit his head, making him dizzy. He couldn't see who was playing a prank on him.

With Cheng Shuang's strength, she absolutely could not hold Qianli back. She slapped him with her hand and used a "drawing a circle on the ground" spell to trap him at the window.

The tug-of-war ended there, but Qianli lost several locks of hair on his head.

Seeing that there were traces of blood on his scalp, Cheng Shuang quickly took out a waterproof wound spray and barely managed to stop the blood from dripping.

There are too many ghosts in this land of death. If you lose even two drops of blood, some ghost might find a loophole and cause trouble.

"Is it the boy with the umbrella?" Cheng Shuang asked him.

Qianli stood in the window, blocking her view, so she couldn't see outside or be sure if the ghost pulling him had left.

The knocking stopped.

“No.” Qianli smiled bitterly. “The boy with the umbrella is outside the yard.”

Cheng Shuang tiptoed to look out the window and, sure enough, saw the tip of an umbrella.

The red umbrella tip tilted upwards, revealing a fair-skinned face.

The boy had long, dark eyeliner drawn on his almond-shaped eyes, with large, black pupils that seemed to refract no light. In contrast, his bright red lips, as if they had drunk blood, were the most striking color on his face.

Cheng Shuang noticed that his eyebrows were just two dots drawn like ink, two bluish-black dots.

They looked at each other, and she saw her own reflection in his eyes.

The boy silently raised his hand, holding a huge green frog. Although it was called a frog, it had webbed feet like claws, and the patterns on its back resembled a human face. It had a few strands of black hair in its mouth, and its blood-red, beady eyes radiated a strange cruelty.

As if to make a gesture of goodwill, the boy smiled at Cheng Shuang with his lips slightly pursed.

Cheng Shuang pursed her lips. If this weren't a ghost, she could have withdrawn from the challenge.

The little girl silently tugged at Qianli's waistband, pulling him back. With one hand, she picked up the lightning talisman and made a gesture of expulsion without expression.

The boy under the umbrella paused, lowered his eyes slightly, and pressed the red umbrella tip down, landing with the raindrops. His wooden clogs splashed further and further away.

"Are they gone?" Qianli rubbed his flushed cheeks. Perhaps it was the cold rain, or perhaps it was the recent surge of ghosts and monsters that had completely extinguished his fear of them.

He rubbed his head, indignant. "That monster must be jealous of my thick hair! How awful!"

Seeing that he was in a good mood, Cheng Shuang tentatively asked, "Did you see the boy's face under the umbrella?"

"No, my head was so congested with blood from looking down, and the rain was so heavy that everything was blurry."

Cheng Shuang then remembered that Qianli's five senses were not as strong as the Protector's. She turned around and sat on the carpet, throwing the sheet at him. "Dry your hair, don't catch a cold. It's not convenient to change clothes now. I think you should take off your shirt and just wrap yourself in the blanket."

The two grew up together and even took a bath together when they were little. Qianli didn't have much of a resistance. She just deliberately turned her back and changed her wet clothes, wrapped herself in a blanket, and sat next to Cheng Shuang to dry her hair.

"Now I'm completely wide awake!" Qianli sighed. "If Mom and Dad knew we hadn't slept all night, they'd give me a piece of their mind!"

Cheng Shuang was treating the bald patch on his head. Although a lot of hair had fallen out, at least it was only half broken off and his scalp wasn't damaged much.

She glanced around the room casually and asked, "Did you go out for fried rice?!"

"No, it's under the bed!" Qianli bent over and could see the cat-like eyes of the fried rice at a glance. With a casual scoop, he pulled out two pale arms.

"Ah!" he cried out in fright, then quickly shut his mouth again.

The one he pulled out was Junxiong. The little boy hugged his own white body, curled up in the corner, as if the roles were reversed, as if he was afraid that they would hurt him.

Cheng Shuang knew that Junxiong had arrived, and Kayako was not far behind.

She took out two more talismans, stuffed them into Qianli's hand, pushed him toward Yumi, and commanded, "Lie side by side and close your eyes."

Two days ago, Chisato was certain that he didn't understand Yuko's strange thoughts. But now, he understands her less and less. The only thing he's sure of is that Yuko has changed. She's become more reliable and dependable, and she's no longer the love-obsessed girl she used to be.

Although she didn't particularly like Fujita Yumi, Chisato didn't say a word of nonsense, quietly lying down beside Fujita and even stuffing the talisman in one of her hands into her pocket.

Cheng Shuang didn't expect Qianli to cooperate so much. He started to pretend to be asleep. If it weren't for his hands being clenched into fists in tension, he would really look like he was asleep.

She didn't say anything more, went straight to bed, and covered herself with the blanket.

With her, someone who had offended Kayako and successfully escaped from her clutches, in front of her, Kayako wouldn't easily shift her target.

The reason Yumi was attacked before was probably related to her lying in her own bed.

In a moment, the foot of the bed twitched, and a chill immediately enveloped the small bedroom. The bookshelf began to creak, drawing one's eyes to investigate.

Qianli's eyelids twitched incessantly, indicating that he was genuinely afraid, yet he was also truly obedient.

Cheng Shuang remained motionless. Soon, a pair of icy hands gripped her ankles, and the sheets were unseen and raised, the chill spreading from her ankles into her body.

She suddenly opened her eyes and met Kayako's hollow, slightly sickly gaze. Under Kayako's cruel gaze, her body felt light, as if she were being pulled into an unknown abyss by a great force.

Kayako thought she had succeeded, but unfortunately, her body instantly lost control. When she looked up, she saw that the girl she was holding onto had pulled the thin blanket off and wrapped it around her instead. On the outside of the blanket were several pieces of yellow paper that looked both strange and familiar to her.

Thinking of the predicament she couldn't escape even after spending the whole night climbing the wall, Kayako suddenly flew into a rage, looked up at the sky and let out a silent howl, her mouth as empty as a void, her face contorted.

However, despite its terrifying appearance, it was still of little use.

The sheet emitted a heat that even ghosts and monsters found unbearable, scalding their souls and weakening their resentment.

Kayako, composed of resentment, had little reason to begin with. With the determination to injure herself rather than let her enemy suffer, she released a wisp of resentment that silently attached itself to the girl.

Resentment will take its place and completely corrupt this human being.
