Wang Lingyi lowered her head and said, "Mother, I'm relieved. I know the importance of this matter, so don't worry, mother." She then asked, "My eldest brother is here too?" Yun said, "He is here, and Heng'er is with him. But do you want to see your eldest brother?"
Wang Lingyi nodded. She knew that her father and elder brother were the ones who made the decisions in the family.
The mother-in-law asked her maid Li'er to go and invite them.
A moment later, the sound of a maid outside announcing and the curtains being opened could be heard. Two tall men entered, their footsteps stirring a gentle breeze. The man in front wore a sky-blue gown, a dark-black outer robe, and a bamboo-colored waist belt with a matching pattern, centered with a beautiful jade. He was handsome, yet his face was calm and his eyes were profound. His every move carried an inexplicable sense of authority, and his gaze, with its piercing gaze, made one blush and feel a flutter. It was Wang Lingyi's brother, Wang Suwen.
The man who entered later was a striking figure, with a jade-like face, dark eyebrows, and sparkling eyes. His sharp jawline hinted at a hint of listening, lending a touch of gentleness to his aloofness. He wore a dark red outer robe with a black rim and gold trim, over an ivory-white top, a green-glazed skirt, and a dark red waistcoat, the same color as the outer robe. His appearance was even more striking, making him look like a beautiful orchid, a jade tree, and a man of exceptional beauty.
Wang Lingyi's gaze lingered on the waistband for a moment, then she gazed slightly away. Jiang Heng, the young marquis of Ningyuan Marquisate, looked at his dainty wife. She wore no makeup, a pale face, her dark hair held together by a jade hairpin. Her delicate pink earlobes were adorned with drop earrings of the same jade. Simple and unadorned, she was still captivatingly beautiful, her pale face making her even more endearing. But she missed his gaze, not meeting his. Remembering the usual radiance and tenderness in her eyes, a vague irritation welled up in his heart.
Over there, Wang Suwen had already exchanged greetings with Yun, then walked up to Wang Lingyi and said softly, "Big brother is here." Wang Lingyi's eyes instantly turned red.
Jiang Heng felt a pang of displeasure at this. Just as he was about to step forward, he heard an announcement from outside: "My father has returned from court." Wang Lingyi's mother and sister-in-law have also arrived. Everyone came out again, exchanged greetings, and took their seats in the flower hall.
The eldest brother Wang Suwen deliberately lagged behind the others and said softly to Wang Lingyi, "Father wants you to relax and live a good life. Don't be afraid of doing anything." This meant that father had drawn a line: you can make a fuss, but you still have to live your life.
Wang Lingyi nodded, "I understand, big brother. It's Lingyi who's unfilial. She's causing father to worry and making you run around so much." Wang Suwen suddenly wanted to just take his sister's hand and lead her home, not having to worry about the Wang family or the Marquis's Mansion or the Jiang family. His hands couldn't help but clench. Wang Lingyi felt it and said softly, "Brother."
Wang Suwen came back to his senses and said, "Brother, go quickly and don't keep the elders waiting." "Okay." Wang Suwen looked at his sister and said, "Brother will find the Ghost Valley Strange Doctor for you." He turned around and strode to catch up.
