Chapter 47: No Trap
Dou Bigui asked my mother, "How do we arrange it?"
Mrs. Xu was originally immersed in her calculations. When she heard her son's words, she was so angry that she slapped him and said, "You bastard, you hang out outside all day long, and you still have to ask me about this kind of thing. You have wasted your time."
Dou Bigui spends all his time flirting with women, so of course he is full of bad people. His badness is all obvious. When it comes to insidious ways of harming people, Xu Pozi is the best.
Of course Mrs. Xu knew what kind of person her son was. She didn't waste any more words with him. She quickly pulled him into a small dark room and had a good talk with him.
Su Ruojin didn't know that she was being targeted. She searched for a long time near Xiqiao Lane but couldn't find a satisfactory shop. Shops in good locations were expensive, while shops in bad locations would affect business.
After watching for ten days or so, she was so angry that she wanted to buy a piece of land and build it herself. However, land in Bianjing City was very expensive and it was not something that a commoner could afford.
Shu Tong asked, "There are only two shops to choose from now, one is from Zhang Yaren, and the other is introduced by Wang Yaren. Which one do you want to choose, Madam?"
In the Xiqiao area, there are alleys crisscrossing each other, and there are shops at the entrance of many alleys. Every shop is in a good location for doing business. It is hard to think of a good shop, but two locations a little bit further inside are acceptable.
A man was planning to sell his shop and house to go back home to take care of his mother because her mother was in poor health. He sold the shop and house for three hundred taels, which was simply the price paid by counting the money Su Ruojin had in her hand. If she had never shown off her wealth, one would even suspect that this man was colluding with the pawnbroker to take all the money out of her hand.
The other small shop was about the same size, with a shop in front and a yard in the back. The owner was too sloppy. Both the shop and the yard were dirty. When the weather got warmer in late February and early March, flies and insects were already flying everywhere.
Su Ruojin really couldn't stand it. It would have been fine, but this family had three sons, and each of them had their eyes on this shop. Whether it was renting or buying it, once they got involved, it would be a difficult lawsuit.
Shu Tong also naturally preferred the outsider who was going to sell the shop and leave. "How about we go find Zhang Ya Ren and ask the Yan family to sell the shop and the yard separately?"
The master and servant turned back to Zhang Ji Yahang and said, "Please ask Mr. Zhang Ya to talk to the Yan family again."
Zhang Yaren saw them coming and said enthusiastically, "Young Master Su, this is your third trip. OK, since you are so sincere, I will go to old man Yan tonight to negotiate. You can come back at this time tomorrow."
Su Ruojin wanted to talk to Yan face to face, and motioned Shu Tong to speak out his thoughts.
"How about we go to the Yan family with Zhang Yaren tonight, maybe we can make it happen."
"This..." Zhang Ya's eyes rolled, "Then I'll let the servant go and ask first. If he refuses, there's nothing I can do."
There is nothing wrong with what she said, but if you look at it from another perspective, she is the one who wants to go home by selling her shop. If there is an owner who wants to buy it, she will definitely be willing to meet and talk.
As Shu Tong's servant, Su Ruojin pretended to be ignorant and asked innocently, "Didn't she say that Yan's mother was not feeling well and asked him to leave as soon as possible? Why is he still hesitating?"
It was normal for the owner to resort to some tricks in order to avoid being forced to lower the price. Su Ruojin just did this trick, but Zhang Yaren's eyes clearly flashed, which Su Ruojin caught. Was there something fishy going on here?
In the huge Kyoto, where all kinds of people are bustling about, there's no telling how many stories happen every day. Places like pawnshops are the best place to harbor filth and evil, and Su Ruojin suddenly became cautious.
But on the surface, she remained calm and let Shu Tong negotiate. They waited in the brokerage shop for more than an hour, and the servant came back with a happy face, "Report to the broker, Old Man Yan agreed."
She was hesitant and unwilling to agree just now, why did she agree now? Su Ruojin became alert, but she didn't show it on her face, and she didn't know what the dentist said.
Zhang Yaren smiled brightly and said, "Then let's go over there tonight and talk?"
Shu Tong was about to say "No problem", but was pulled back by Su Ruojin. He suddenly realized that the second lady was a servant disguised as a man. It didn't seem right to do it so late at night, so he shook his head and said, "I think we should talk in the teahouse tomorrow morning. I'll pay for the tea."
Su Ruojin secretly praised Shu Tongshu's response.
Zhang Yaren glanced at the servant, his expression changed immediately, and he said gloomily: "Young Master Su, are you kidding me? Just now I said I would go by myself in the evening, but you insisted on coming with me. Now I have arranged for you to go, but you don't want to go. Do you think I am bored and have nothing to do?"
"Hey!" Shubing was even more unhappy than him, "There are so many dental clinics on this street, why does it have to be at yours!" After saying that, he pulled up his little master, flicked his sleeves, and walked out of the dental clinic.
In the arsenal, Zhang Ya and his servant Wu Ji exchanged glances. If they had known earlier, they would not have asked Dou whether he had found the right people, but would have directly tricked them over first. It was all Dou's fault for not making good arrangements, and the thing they had called flew away.
After walking for a while, Shu Tong asked, "Second Madam, what's wrong?"
Su Ruojin turned around as he walked, found an alley, and hid at the entrance of the alley to look towards Zhang Ji Yahang. "Uncle Shutong, I'll go back first. You stay here and quietly follow the servants or Zhang Yamen to see who they are meeting with."
Shu Yi was shocked: "Second Madam, do you suspect they are setting up a trap to cheat us out of our money?"
Su Ruojin nodded, "We went to five or six dental shops on this street, and Zhang's was the most enthusiastic. They also told me how much the Yan family wanted to sell the shop. I didn't think it was a big deal at first, but nothing can be discussed in the daytime. You've already paid for the tea, but they're still not happy. This is very wrong."
Shu Tong nodded seriously.
"Be careful." Su Ruojin took advantage of the fact that there were many people on the street at noon and went home carefully.
On the way home, the petite Su Ruojin was really afraid that the human traffickers would take her away. Fortunately, it was broad daylight and she was dressed as a servant, so she did not attract excessive attention from people with bad intentions.
When he returned home, Su Ruojin broke out in a cold sweat, wishing he could find a woman who knew martial arts.
Yang Si Niang went to play with Su Er Niang, but she almost failed again. Unexpectedly, she came back and asked, "Hey, why are you wearing servant's clothes?"
Su Ruojin didn't want to say anything to the little brat. She originally wanted her to go back first, but suddenly she remembered that Madam Yang was from the Duke of Zheng's Mansion, and that the Duke of Zheng's Mansion had descendants serving in the army, so she asked her with a smile, "Does your mother have any women from the martial arts family under her command?"
Yang Si Niang didn't understand and shook her head, "I don't know."
"Then can you help me ask your mother if she has one? If so, how much would it cost to hire one long term?"
A six or seven-year-old child loves to be entrusted with an important task, and she happily ran home to find her mother.
Su Ruojin: ... Isn't it inappropriate to bring it up so rashly?
Forget it, I’ve said it all.
Su Ruojin returned home, changed into a servant's clothes, washed up, and had dinner first.
In a red-light district in the capital, a waiter from Zhangji Yahang stood in front of a fat man with a bitter look on his face, "Mr. Dou, those two guys didn't fall for it."
Dou Bigui heard this and threw away the girl in his arms. He said with a stern look on his face: "If you haven't led them into the trap, how can you take their money?"
"I'm really sorry, Mr. Dou. Our Mr. Zhang did his best, but those two guys were too slippery and there was nothing we could do."
Dou Bigui didn't finish what his mother asked him to do, and he was not in the mood to play anymore, so he hurried home to see his mother.
