Chapter 66 Summer Afternoon
The Su family courtyard was so quiet in the afternoon that even the energetic Su Sanlang fell asleep. The May wind blew, and the faint fragrance of flowers came to the face. Sometimes a few small petals would fall quietly, landing in the yard, floating in the corridor, and sticking to the two young masters.
Fan Yanjia was sleeping soundly, and his servant was also sitting on a bamboo chair, chin stretched out, drooling sweetly.
Zhao Lan opened his eyes in shock at the falling flowers. Shuang Rui quickly bent forward, reached out and picked up the falling flowers, pulled the blanket up, and said softly, "It's okay, young master, go to sleep!"
His eyes fell on the small locust tree beside the courtyard wall. "What kind of flower is that?"
"Sophora japonica."
He stared blankly for a while before slowly closing his eyes.
May is the end of spring and the beginning of summer, just like the gentlest smile on Dr. Su's lips, neither as chilly as spring nor as hot as midsummer. It is gentle but not sparse, warm but not restrained, the sky is calm, and the plants are happy.
It was a rare moment of silence, and Zhao Lan fell asleep.
After waking up, Su Ruojin got up, having relaxed from the tiredness of most of the day.
Mao Ya heard the noise and tiptoed in with a basin to help her young master wash his face and rinse his mouth.
After wiping her face with clean water, Su Ruojin finally woke up from her sleepiness. "Are my parents awake?"
Mao Ya didn't reply to her as usual. Instead, she stretched out her hand to make a 'shush' gesture and pointed to the corridor outside. "He's still sleeping. His servant won't let anyone talk."
Oh, Su Ruojin remembered that the two little ancestors had not left yet! They actually wanted to eat dinner for free. Thinking about it, she felt annoyed. How could these two guys be so shameless? They stayed for a whole day and people had no rest day.
With a snort, she tiptoed out of the room and saw two young boys sleeping soundly in the corridor. She shook her head. The rice in their pot smelled delicious, so she believed it. Could it be comfortable to sleep on their bamboo chairs?
I really don’t understand!
When they arrived at the workshop, it was a hot day, and in order not to disturb the little boys sleeping in the corridor, the workshop door was closed. Mother Dong, Dashi and others were sweating profusely from the heat. It was really a sin. Su Ruojin hurriedly asked Mao Ya to go to the small cellar and take out all the ice inside.
Mother Dong stretched out her hand to stop him, "No need, it will pass after a while."
There were several large stoves in the workshop. What should they do if they get heatstroke? Su Ruojin didn't listen to her and quickly asked Mao Ya to bring out the ice cubes and wrap them in towels and tie them around their bodies.
It's only May, and it's so hot in the workshop, we have to find a way to get a fan! Su Ruojin said to herself as she reached out to help.
Fan Yanjia woke up and stretched out of habit, but was stopped by the servant halfway. Looking in the direction he pointed, Zhao Lan was lying in a bamboo chair with her eyes closed, quietly following a beauty.
Hmm, it is rumored that the youngest son of Prince Jin is as beautiful as a fairy. Although I have been his study companion for a month or so, I am also amazed by his beauty, but it is still not as shocking as I am now. This guy doesn't look like a real person. He seems like a fairy's work of art that is so exquisitely crafted that it takes nothing away from nature.
He sighed deeply and stood up gently.
The servant quickly waved to Mao Ya, "Where do you want to wash up?"
"plz follow me."
Mao Ya brought the servant to the sink in front of the kitchen, where a new small wooden basin and a hand towel were placed. Qing Feng looked down and said, "Why is it so transparent? It looks really nice."
Mao Ya was very proud, because this was made by the Second Lady and was not sold anywhere else. But she remembered that the little nobleman in the corridor did not wake up and did not answer. He just curled his lips and stretched out his hand to signal him to help his master wash.
When Fan Yanjia picked up the towel to wash his face, he suddenly couldn't help but sigh that although the teacher's house was simple, for some reason it made people feel comfortable.
The Su family members had finished their naps one after another. The footsteps in the corridor were light but continuous. Shuangrui thought that the young master would be woken up, but he was still lying quietly in the bamboo chair without moving.
This is a deep sleep.
It's really rare!
Shuangrui couldn't help but gently lift the blanket up again. He held his breath, afraid of waking up the little master, and kept holding his breath. As a result, the little master was still sleeping soundly.
Finally, even the tough Su Sanlang woke up. The first thing he did when he woke up was not to wash his face and teeth, but to go find Su Ruojin, "Sister, you promised me that if I sleep well, I will have green bean ice and sour plum soup."
Su Ruojin smiled at him, "There is also apricot peel water."
Apricot peel water, also known as apricot peel tea, is made from apricot peel. It tastes sweet and sour and thirst-quenching when chilled, and its taste is similar to sour plum soup.
"Wow wow wow..." With one more delicious food, Su Sanlang lost all sleepiness and jumped for joy.
The quiet courtyard suddenly became lively, and everyone looked towards the corridor: ...
Shuangrui stared at the young master nervously.
Zhao Lan opened his eyes, and they were clear as if he had never slept.
"Young master, you're awake!" Shuangrui quickly bent down and helped the little master who was about to sit up to take off the blanket.
Zhao Lan looked towards the yard, then towards the source of the sound. A little kid covered his mouth with his hands and looked at him with a smile. He remembered that he was at Dr. Su's house.
"How long?"
If it weren't for this, Shuang Rui almost thought that his master was taking a nap. After confirming that he really slept, he happily replied, "It's already 3 p.m."
I took a nap until after three o'clock. Their beds smell so good! Su Ruojin was speechless. Now she finally didn't have to cover her mouth and pretend to be dumb. When he woke up, she quickly asked the workshop to open the front and back doors.
In an instant, the wind blew through the hall, and the workshop became much cooler.
Su Sanlang ran over with his legs stretched out. "I'm sorry, little brother, I woke you up. I'll give you my favorite mung bean ice cream." Then he held the popsicle in front of Zhao Lan.
Shuang Rui smiled and politely blocked it, "Thank you, Mr. Su San. My little master needs to wash up first."
Mao Ya then dared to come over, "Please follow me!"
After waking up from a nap, the most pleasant thing is to have some snacks to fill your hunger and some refreshing tea to quench your thirst, and then sit under the porch and enjoy the leisure time while eating.
Mung bean ice, apricot peel water, sour plum soup, the sunlight shines through the roof, passes over the treetops, and spreads to the corridor, forming mottled shadow circles, adding beautiful light and shadow to the leisurely time.
The young man took a sip from the cup, sometimes looking up, sometimes looking down, slowly and leisurely, but it was a taste of enjoyment.
Su Yanli looked at the young men and women in the corridor with gentle smiles. This was the kind of life he wanted.
Yang Si Niang pushed the door open and shouted, "Ajin, I'm here!"
Su Ruojin waved at her, "Arong, come quickly, I made a new drink, come and try it."
"Wow, there are delicious drinks again." Just as she stepped onto the stairs, Yang Si Niang stopped and saw two ridiculously pretty boys. She suddenly said dignifiedly, "Ajin, you have guests at home!"
"Yes, my father's student."
"Oh." Yang Si Niang was also a seven-year-old girl. When she saw strangers, she suddenly became much more ladylike. She lifted her skirt and walked up the corridor in a dignified manner. She bowed slightly to the two of them before walking towards Su Ruojin.
Su Ruojin couldn't help but smile when she saw her become more ladylike. When she came closer, she smiled and said to her, "I didn't expect you to have such a ladylike side."
"I can't help it. My mother taught me that."
