He took a deep breath, went into the shop, and took out the flint and steel. "Excuse me, is this flint and steel from your shop?"
The waiter glanced at him, casually took a look, and nodded. "Yeah! What's wrong?"
"Excuse me, sir, do you have any records of your sales? Do you know who bought the flint and steel?"
Their ledgers did indeed have annotations, but those were only for family members to see; they would never easily show them to outsiders. Besides, there were too many ledgers, requiring a long search, and he couldn't be bothered to waste his time on a simply dressed villager, so his refusal was quite decisive.
"No! Our shop is doing very well. We sell so many treasures every day, how could I possibly remember who we sold them to?"
This man had his eyes on his forehead and seemed too lazy to bother with him. Qinghe also didn't want to waste words with him. "Where is your manager? I want to see him."
"The shopkeeper went to inspect the goods with someone and is not in the shop."
When will he return?
"Then I don't know." Seeing a customer arrive at the door, the waiter quickly greeted him with a smile and ignored him.
Qinghe decided to wait for the shopkeeper to return. He wandered around the shop, and he seemed to recognize all the calligraphy, paintings and antiques on the shelves, as if he had seen them before.
Just as he was wondering what was going on, the waiter walked up to him and scoffed unhappily, "Why are you still here? If you're waiting for someone, please go outside. Don't get in the way and delay my guests from tasting our food."
Qinghe was not angry at being looked down upon, because he knew very well that this was the way of the world: without status or position, who would respect you?
He didn't say much, but turned around and waited outside the shop.
On a day when the snow was melting, the wind felt like sharp knives on his face. Despite the cold, he didn't hunch his shoulders and shrink his neck like the hurried passersby. He stood straight and upright, as tall as a pine tree.
Before he knew it, he had been waiting there for an hour. He was almost frozen stiff, his body was ice cold, his lips were turning blue, and he was about to lose consciousness.
He had considered leaving, but since he had come all this way to the capital, wouldn't it be a wasted trip if he just left? Even if he went back, he would still think about it and find no peace.
Thinking of this, he ultimately did not leave and continued to wait there patiently.
Just then, Li Yu, who had just bought tea next door, came out of the shop with his hands in his pockets and suddenly noticed a person standing next to him.
Despite being dressed in very thin clothes in the biting cold wind, he stood as straight as bamboo, resilient and unyielding. His extraordinary aura made Li Yu take a second look, and the more she looked, the more familiar he seemed.
After racking his brains for a while, a figure suddenly appeared. Li Yu was overjoyed and exclaimed in surprise.
"Second Master Fu! You're finally back!"
The howling north wind made Qinghe's head ache and his eyes extremely dry, so he kept his eyelids half-closed.
Hearing a sudden exclamation, he looked up in confusion, only to see a person with delicate features and a short stature, who was cheerfully sizing him up. Qinghe hesitated before speaking.
"You...recognize me?"
Li Yu smiled and said, "You are my master's brother-in-law, of course this servant recognizes you!"
"Your master is..."
"Fourth Prince!" Li Yu was surprised that he would ask such a question. "Before you went to the battlefield, the Emperor had already betrothed your sister to you as his wife. You knew about this, didn't you?"
Qinghe became increasingly puzzled, "My sister is the Fourth Prince's wife?"
Seeing the doubt in his eyes and his blank expression, Li Yu suddenly remembered that Su Gege had also experienced a similar situation, and exclaimed, "You wouldn't be... suffering from amnesia, would you?"
Nodding blankly, Qinghe had no recollection of what he was saying. "You recognize me? Who am I?"
It seemed he really had amnesia. Li Yu quickly said to him, "You are Fu Qing, the second young master of the Fucha family, a third-rank imperial bodyguard!"
