It would be a lie to say that she wasn't affected at all, but Yu Shan's state of mind was now very different from before. She knew perfectly well what Fucha Gege's purpose was in deliberately bringing these things up. If she got angry, Fucha Gege would be happy to see her make a fool of herself.
After a moment's thought, Su Yushan remained seated, her brows unfurrowed and her eyes calm, responding with a faint smile, "Sister, you probably don't know much about Fourth Master. Fourth Master has practiced martial arts for many years and is strong and healthy. He is very valiant in the tent and won't stop until he has tormented you two or three times every night. I'm afraid of him!"
Seeing that Princess Fucha's expression changed, Su Yushan hurriedly covered her mouth, "Oh dear! I was so foolish. I shouldn't have told my sister about these private matters. It's a real pity that my sister will never have the chance to experience the power of the Fourth Prince."
Yunfang was worried that Yushan would be hurt and angry because of those words, and was about to tease Fucha Gege on her behalf, but before she could speak, Yushan had already retorted, which made Fucha Gege's face change instantly, turning red and white, and she was speechless for a long time.
The situation had already become unpleasant, so Su Yushan didn't stay any longer. She greeted Xilan and got up to leave.
To Princess Fucha, her demeanor was extremely arrogant. Princess Fucha grunted and slammed her hand on the marble tabletop, only to have her palm sting from the impact, which only fueled her anger.
"What is Su Yushan so smug about?"
Xi Lan couldn't stand it any longer and couldn't help but say, "You shouldn't have mentioned the Fourth Prince and his wife in front of her."
"What?" Princess Fucha rolled her eyes, her face full of disdain. "Fourth Prince doesn't belong to her alone. The Fujin is the legal wife, and she's just a concubine. What's so great about her?"
"Aren't you just saying all that to see her make a fool of herself? We're both women, why make things difficult for each other?"
Princess Fucha couldn't help but retort, "Didn't you see how awful her words were? She was mocking me for not being able to see the Fourth Prince! Why don't you criticize her?"
“If you hadn’t brought those things up, Yu Shan wouldn’t have made those sarcastic remarks first; she’s not that kind of person.”
Princess Fucha was already feeling bad after being ridiculed by Su Yushan, but instead of comforting her, Xilan criticized her, which inevitably chilled her heart.
"So you're blaming me for being nosy? You always side with Yu Shan. It's wrong of me to tell the truth, but it's right for her to brag in front of me. Just because she's favored by the Fourth Prince, even my friends side with her. If you don't like me, then just ignore me!"
"I'm not biased towards Yu Shan. You provoked her first, and you're not allowed to retaliate?" There were some things Xi Lan didn't want to say, but Princess Fucha was always so extreme, and she couldn't stand it anymore. She had to make things clear today.
"Ya Tang, you and Yu Shan are both my friends. I hope you can get along well. Fourth Master only has one heart. He gave it to Yu Shan, so he is destined to ignore others. Don't say you can't see Fourth Master, I can't either! This is Fourth Master's attitude. We don't need to resent Yu Shan."
With a cold laugh, Ya Tang bluntly exposed, "You're wrong. A man's heart can't belong to only one person forever. He'll change his mind sooner or later. Su Yushan can't be favored forever."
"I won't be jealous if she's favored, I'll only offer my blessings. I won't mock her if she falls out of favor, I'll only feel pity. We can't control the Fourth Prince's heart, we just need to live our own lives well."
What good does it do you to resent her like this? Haven't you noticed that every time, you're the one who rushes to offend Yu Shan, while Gao Gege hides in the back? She's the truly clever one; she doesn't stand up herself, but uses you as a pawn!
Despite the risk of offending Ya Tang, Xi Lan pressed on and spoke her mind. She had said what she needed to say, and how Ya Tang would view her was beyond her control.
With a deep sigh, Xi Lan turned and left without saying another word, leaving Ya Tang alone, sitting there in a daze, unable to help but reflect on her situation.
Xi Lan and Yu Shan were close. She disliked Su Yu Shan, so she went to seek refuge with the Fujin (wife of the Fujin) and also befriended Gao Xiuwen. Gao Xiuwen was outwardly kind to her and shared her hatred, criticizing Su Yu Shan. However, when facing Su Yu Shan, Gao Xiuwen rarely spoke. She would always speak first, and only then would Gao Xiuwen would offer a few perfunctory words of agreement.
She had only assumed that Gao Xiuwen was aloof and quiet, and hadn't given it much thought. But after hearing Xi Lan's words today, she was shocked to realize that the truth might not be so simple.
Although Xi Lan is straightforward, she still considers her a friend. But what about Gao Xiuwen? What does she consider her as?
After Su Yushan walked away, Changyue, worried that her mistress was unhappy, carefully advised, "Princess, Fourth Master has no feelings for his wife. He shares a room with her probably just to give her the respect she deserves and because he wants a legitimate son. Please don't take it to heart."
With a soft "hmm," Su Yushan's expression remained unchanged as she continued walking forward. "I'm fine."
Chang Yue thought this was perfectly normal, but Yun Fang couldn't understand how Fourth Master, who liked Yu Shan so much, could be intimate with other women. Can a person's body and mind really be separated?
However, she guessed that Yu Shan might be feeling very bad, so she didn't dare to say it out loud and just silently grumbled to herself.
They dared not mention it, and Su Yushan did not mention it either, and then returned to Huatang Pavilion.
Meanwhile, after seeing Su Mingfeng, Hongli felt a bit hot and dry, so he decided to go back to Huatang Pavilion to change his clothes first, and then go to the back garden to find Su Yushan.
To his surprise, as soon as he entered the courtyard, he saw Yunfang standing there, watering the flowers. Hongli asked in surprise, "Why are you still inside? Where is Yushan? Didn't she go to the back garden?"
In the past, Yunfang would always greet Hongli with joy, but today she had a sullen face and said in a muffled voice, "The princess went, but was spoiled by someone, so she came back. The princess is taking a nap in her room now."
"Who spoiled your mood?" Hongli asked, and Yunfang, too lazy to hide it, told the truth, "Who else could it be? Princess Fucha, of course!"
