Chapter 284: Is Hongli Cruel?

Does she hate him? When she first heard the truth, Jin Minjing was indeed shocked, but she understood that Chen Feng was an extremely cautious person who was not good at expressing himself. If she hadn't mistaken him for Hongli, and if she hadn't thrown herself into his arms when she was infatuated, Chen Feng would never have dared to offend her.

Ultimately, she was also at fault; she was the one who tempted him first, so how can you blame him alone?

Looking back on their time together, even though it was all a dream, a sliver of sweetness remained in her heart. "You wove a dream for me, giving my dull life a glimmer of hope. I know you wanted to save me, and I don't hate you. But everyone has their own life to live, and I have no way out!"

She doesn't hate him? Is she trying to comfort him? Chen Feng couldn't believe it. The intense pain was unbearable, and he couldn't help but cough a few times while clutching his abdomen.

Kim Min-jung thought he only had injuries on his back, but now she realized that his hands, which were covering his abdomen, were also covered in blood!

"You've lost a lot of blood, let me bandage you up..."

She tried to help him stop the bleeding, but he weakly shook his head. He knew his injuries best, and there was no need to try to save him now.

Chen Feng's consciousness began to blur, but he still forced himself to stay awake, staring intently at her, waiting for an answer.

"In your heart, has there ever been even the slightest place for me?"

Is there a place for him? Kim Min-jung had never thought about this question carefully, because in the past she was only focused on Hongli and never paid any attention to Chen Feng.

Looking back now, she was surprised to realize that Chen Feng had been with her for many years without her noticing.

He was a man of few words, always with a sullen face. No matter what she asked him to do, he would silently carry it out. Even when she asked him to assassinate Xin'er, he did not ask why and simply did as she asked.

That day, Demin fought with him and he was injured in the hand. Jin Minjing was worried that Hongli would find out about Chen Feng and implicate her. Without saying a word, Chen Feng burned his own hand to try to cover up the wound.

Despite being injured again and in unbearable pain, he gritted his teeth and did not complain at all.

Later, she was banished to another residence, where she became depressed and more irritable. Occasionally, when Chen Feng came to visit her, she would lash out at him, and he would listen silently without ever arguing back.

At that time, she thought that Chen Feng was only indulging her because of their master-servant relationship. But later, he was driven out of the mansion and was no longer her guard, yet he still obeyed her every command.

Hongli always said that she had changed, becoming unreasonable, willful, domineering, and ruthless. Hongli refused to tolerate her, which ultimately stemmed from the fact that he did not love her.

Chen Feng witnessed all her evil deeds, her willfulness and cunning, and he knew everything, yet he never despised her, ultimately because he loved her.

Only now did Jin Minjing finally realize that Chen Feng's feelings for her were deeper than she had ever imagined. She didn't consider herself a kind and good woman. What did she do to deserve Chen Feng treating her like this? He could have run away, but for her sake, he was even willing to risk his life!

Chen Feng had been waiting for an answer, but she never responded.

His vision grew increasingly dim, and in a daze, he seemed to see tears welling up in Kim Min-jung's eyes. Was she crying for him?

If he died, would she be sad for him?

Chen Feng was too exhausted to think. He took one last look at her with all his might, then slowly closed his eyes, his heavy body collapsing into her arms.

He could hear nothing anymore, leaving Kim Min-jung alone, holding him and crying her heart out, calling out his name repeatedly.

"Chen Feng! Chen Feng! Didn't you want to know the answer? Wake up, wake up! I'll tell you the answer..."

She has been obsessed for half her life, always making mistakes. Now that she has finally woken up from her dream, it comes at such a heavy price. Why is God so cruel, always making her experience these joys and sorrows?

In despair, Jin Minjing clutched Chen Feng's hand, weeping uncontrollably. She had so much to tell him, but sadly, he would never hear it again…

Witnessing this tragic scene of life and death separation, Su Yushan was heartbroken and buried her head in Hongli's shoulder, sobbing uncontrollably.

Hongli had already intended to kill Chen Feng; wrongdoing deserves consequences. However, when he saw Chen Feng die before his eyes, he felt no satisfaction, only a strange tightness in his throat.

He thought Chen Feng was only after Jin Minjing's beauty and wanted to take advantage of her. He thought that once the scandal was exposed, Chen Feng would run away faster than anyone else. But unexpectedly, Chen Feng actually risked his life to protect Jin Minjing!

Is there really anyone in this world who truly loves Kim Min-jung?

The series of heavy blows brought Kim Min-jung to the brink of collapse. Ignoring the stares of those around her, she held him tightly and kept talking to Chen Feng as if he could still hear her.

Hongli held back for a long time, but in the end he did not stop her. He only instructed Demin to give her an abortion pill later, and then instructed Demin that no one was allowed to reveal a word about what happened tonight.

After giving his instructions, Hongli left the villa with Su Yushan.

The early spring night was bitterly cold. Su Yushan pulled her cloak tighter around herself. Hongli held her hand the whole time; his large hand was warm, but her small hand was ice cold and wouldn't warm up no matter what she did.

After leaving the villa, Hongli helped her into the carriage. The carriage was still warm with burning charcoal, but Su Yushan felt cold all over and shivered involuntarily.

She leaned against the corner, silent and lost in thought, clearly absent-minded.

In the past, the two of them would sit very close when traveling by carriage, but today she was sitting so far away. Could it be that she had a problem with him? Seeing this, Hongli finally couldn't help but ask.

Do you think I'm cruel, and that I shouldn't have killed Chen Feng?

Su Yushan felt a tightness in her chest, yet she had no one to blame but herself. At this moment, she could no longer discern who was truly the culprit behind this tragedy.
