"Is he really your husband?"
When Yu Chan first saw Zheng Lin, she was quite surprised. She didn't expect that Zheng Lin would come to find her, and even brought her second brother with him!
However, the resentment in her heart ultimately overshadowed her surprise. Yu Chan glanced at him, her usual gentleness gone, and her voice unusually indifferent, "I don't recognize him!"
After saying this, Yu Chan turned and left.
The young master who was hit was indignant. "If the young lady says she doesn't recognize you, then you are not her husband. What right do you have to hit me?" The man was about to argue, but Zheng Lin ignored him and caught up with Yu Chan.
"You think you can just run away after hitting me?" The young master refused to let it go and wanted an explanation. Su Jiafeng took a step forward and instantly blocked his way.
The tall and imposing Su Jiafeng grabbed him by the collar. "You dare touch my sister? You're tired of living, aren't you?"
The young master, feeling humiliated by the tugging, tried to pull away but couldn't budge him. Enraged, he shouted, "Who do you think you are? How dare you speak to me like that? Guards! Beat him up!"
At the young master's command, two servants were about to step forward when they saw the man lift his robe, revealing a waist token!
The servants exchanged glances, immediately stopping in their tracks, not daring to make a move. The young master caught sight of the imperial guard's waist badge, gasped, and immediately greeted him with a smile, bowing respectfully:
"So you're from the palace, my apologies! I was just joking with you, young lady, and had no intention of offending you. Please don't be angry, sir."
Su Jiafeng was worried about her sister and brother-in-law, so she didn't argue with him and let go of him.
Su Jiafeng hurried after her and said to her younger sister, "You told your elder sister that you came to Baozhenlou, but we didn't see you. We thought something had happened to you. My brother-in-law, the people from the Fourth Master's mansion, and I all came out to look for you. We didn't expect you to come to watch the opera!"
Yun Song brought her here. Yu Chan originally planned to go to Baozhen Tower, but she suddenly saw this theater and remembered that Zheng Lin had said he would take her to watch a play, but he had never kept his promise. She felt depressed and decided to go in and watch a play by herself to pass the time.
She hadn't expected Zheng Lin to come looking for her, nor had she expected the matter to escalate to such a degree, with her whole family coming to find her. Yu Chan felt guilty, but still harbored resentment towards Zheng Lin, so she didn't want to explain further and simply remained silent.
Having finally found her, Zheng Lin was relieved and said gently to her, "Next time you want to see a play, I'll bring you. The theater is a mixed bag, it's not safe for a woman like you to come alone."
"You'll take me with you? Do you have time? You're busy with the shop all day long, and even when you have free time, you're reading or playing chess. How can you have time to spend with me? Don't make promises you can't keep!"
Speechless, Zheng Lin was speechless. Su Jiafeng scoffed, "Brother-in-law, this is your fault. Spend more time with Yu Chan, otherwise she'll be bored at home all by herself."
Feeling guilty, Zheng Lin nodded and replied, "Okay, I'll spend more time with her from now on."
"No need, I don't need it!" Yu Chan resolutely refused, because she knew very well that Zheng Lin was just saying nice things, and his words were not credible at all.
Zheng Lin was quite embarrassed and wanted to take her home to talk things over, but Yu Chan refused to go back, saying she wanted to stay at her second brother's house.
She went straight to Baozhen Tower. Although He Yuning didn't know what conflict the couple had, judging from Yu Chan's appearance, she seemed genuinely angry. So He Yuning took the initiative to let her stay there.
"Then let Yu Chan stay here for a while. I will take good care of my sister. Young Master Zheng, please rest assured."
Yu Chan was adamant, and Zheng Lin couldn't persuade her otherwise, so he could only agree to come and pick her up another day.
After searching half a street, Yun Song finally found the Second Miss's trail. He breathed a sigh of relief and hurried back to report.
Upon learning that her younger sister had arrived safely at Baozhen Tower, Su Yushan finally felt relieved. However, Hongli became suspicious.
"Why did Zheng Lin suddenly start arguing with her? What were they arguing about?"
