Chapter 319 First Visit to Prince Bao's Mansion

Not getting a response from inside, Chen Yizhen called out again, "Brother Su?"

Su Jiafeng, who had just fallen asleep, was woken up and frowned impatiently, asking her what was wrong.

Chen Yizhen thought she had come to deliver hangover soup.

Su Jiafeng was too lazy to get up, and didn't even want to open her eyes. "I didn't drink too much. Didn't I just tell you? I only had two glasses. I don't need any hangover soup. You should go back and rest!"

"But I've already cooked it, I've been cooking it for 15 minutes!"

Her voice sounded aggrieved, as if not drinking it would betray her good intentions. Su Jiafeng thought to herself, "I didn't ask you to brew it!"

This girl is sensitive; if I spoke too harshly, she might overthink things and start crying. Su Jiafeng didn't want to cause herself trouble, so she ultimately refrained from arguing.

"Thank you for your trouble, but I really don't need it. I'm very sleepy and need to sleep. I have to go to the palace to work tomorrow, and I'll be punished if I'm late." With that perfunctory reply, Su Jiafeng turned over and continued to sleep.

Chen Yizhen was a little disappointed that he hadn't opened the door after calling for so long. She reached out to push the door open, intending to go in herself, but found that the door was locked!

Hearing the commotion, Su Jiafeng, who was inside the tent, couldn't help but secretly praise her brother-in-law as a true diviner!

He usually doesn't lock the door, but today he listened to his brother-in-law's advice and locked the door before going to bed. Luckily he locked the door, otherwise if he had been sleeping soundly and Chen Yizhen had come in, he would have been in deep trouble!

Only when the door is locked tight can he sleep peacefully and stop worrying about her.

Unable to get in, Chen Yizhen could only turn back with the hangover soup in her arms.

The next morning, Su Jiafeng went to the palace to perform his duties. He had told her the night before that someone from Prince Bao's mansion would come to pick her up today, so Chen Yizhen got up exceptionally early and began to tidy herself up.

She found it difficult to style her hair in a complicated updo by herself, so she called her maid, Afu, to do it for her.

Afu was originally meant to serve Madam He Yuning. However, He Yuning left in a hurry to return to her parents' home this time, taking only one maid with her. Afu stayed at home, but she was loyal to Madam He.

Chen Yizhen suddenly summoned her to serve her, which made Afu feel somewhat uncomfortable. She made an excuse that she had twisted her wrist and couldn't comb her hair. Chen Yizhen frowned in displeasure.

"I'm going to see the concubine, and if my hair is disheveled, wouldn't that be disrespectful to Brother Su?"

Afu thought to herself, "What does your own manners have to do with my Master Su?" Frustrated, she pouted and glanced at Chen Yizhen.

"I am a maidservant by the lady's side. I am only responsible for serving the lady, not serving guests!"

So, does she only have eyes for He Yuning? A mere maidservant, and she dares to be so picky? Feeling humiliated and indignant, Chen Yizhen scoffed.

"Your money was given by Brother Su. Since you are a maid of the Su family, you have to serve everyone in the Su family!"

"But young lady, your surname is Chen! What is your relationship with the Su family? What is your relationship with Lord Su?"

Afu's words left Chen Yizhen speechless, her face flushed red as she retorted angrily:

"A mere maidservant dares to speak so rudely and talk back to a guest! How dare you! If Brother Su knew how arrogant you were, he would certainly not let you off easily!"

Afu wasn't afraid of Chen Yizhen at all, because she was certain that Madam would stand up for her and would never allow this outsider to bully her.

"Go ahead and complain if you want. If the adults punish me, I'll accept it willingly!"

After saying this arrogantly, Afu turned and left, refusing to listen to her orders. Chen Yizhen was so angry that she tightly gripped the handkerchief in her hand, secretly cursing Afu for looking down on people. She thought that after she returned from the Prince Bao's mansion and became Su Jiafeng's concubine, she would have plenty of ways to deal with Afu!

With a soft hum, Chen Yizhen didn't dare to delay any longer and quickly went inside to do her hair. She hadn't been willing to wear the jewelry that Su Jiafeng had given her before, but today she wore it all in her hair.

After all, she was going to Prince Bao's residence, so she couldn't be impolite.

After spending half an hour carefully dressing up, Chen Yizhen looked at herself in the mirror and thought she looked quite presentable. It wasn't until she rode in a carriage into the Prince's mansion and paid her respects to the concubine that she realized how inferior she truly was.

The concubine was dressed in a fox fur cloak embroidered with vases and flowers. The white fox fur at the collar was spotless, which made her face look like an oval, delicate and pretty, and her neck like a swan, long and elegant.

Her eyes were bright and dazzling, and although there was no seductive charm in her brows and eyes, she inexplicably captivated people's souls.

With every gesture, the jade bracelet on Consort Hao's wrist, a vibrant green, was both warm and dazzling, captivating Chen Yizhen's attention.

It wasn't until someone beside her reminded her that Chen Yizhen came to her senses, curtsied to Su Yushan, and then mustered the courage to look up at her, praising her repeatedly.

"I have never seen anyone as beautiful as you. You seem unreal, more like a fairy in a painting."

Su Yushan thought to herself: Jiafeng said that this Miss Chen was simple and did not know the rules, but it seems that she is very knowledgeable about human relationships!

As the saying goes, one doesn't hit a smiling face. Miss Chen praised her as soon as she entered, so Yu Shan felt embarrassed to say anything harsh and simply smiled in response:

"You flatter me, young lady. Please sit down. There's no need for formalities."

Chen Yizhen sat down immediately, her back ramrod straight, clearly a little nervous.

Chang Yue poured tea for her and served her a plate of pastries and fruit. Her movements were slow and gentle, making almost no sound, and she was very polite to her.

Seeing this, Chen Yizhen was very satisfied and praised with a smile: "Consort, you are truly good at managing your household. The maids in your room are well-mannered and kind, unlike the maids in Brother Su's house, who are very arrogant and even talk back to people!"

Her words seemed to have a hidden meaning; she was clearly complaining! "Oh? You mean my sister-in-law is incompetent at managing the household, which is why the servants are so unruly?"

Chen Yizhen did not deny it and continued, "Actually, this is understandable. After all, Brother Su is not at home all year round, and Sister is busy with the business of the restaurant and has no time to manage the servants. It would be good if there was someone in the house to help manage the household affairs."

So, was she recommending herself? Su Yushan suddenly realized that this Miss Chen was much bolder than she had imagined! Before she had even mentioned it, Miss Chen had brought it up herself.

Just as Su Yushan was about to wake up from her sweet dream, she suddenly heard someone outside the door call out "Fourth Master," indicating that Hongli had returned to the mansion.

Hearing the commotion, Chen Yizhen turned around and saw a tall figure draped in brilliant light standing at the door. He simply raised his hand, casually lifted his robe, and stepped across the threshold with his long legs clad in gold-embroidered black boots.

Chen Yizhen stared blankly, her gaze slowly moving upwards, and what came into view was an extraordinary handsome face. A large and dense black sable fur coat was wrapped around his body. This man exuded a noble aura, especially his dark eyes, which were as deep as a pool. With just one glance, one could be captivated and lose one's mind!

The five-clawed golden dragon robe he wore was embroidered with gold thread. The front and back of the robe were decorated with frontal dragons, while the two shoulders were decorated with walking dragons. Each dragon was embroidered with a majestic and solemn air, and was lifelike. Chen Yizhen knew embroidery, so she naturally knew that this robe was not only a symbol of wealth, but also a manifestation of power!

Startled, she murmured, "This must be Prince Bao, right? This humble woman, Chen Yizhen, pays her respects to Prince Bao!"

She smiled gently, curtsied slightly, her voice trembling slightly, unable to hide her nervousness.
