Chapter 393 An even bigger surprise!

At this moment, Su Yushan suddenly remembered something. "A few days ago, I said I wanted to visit Fangyuanju, but Aunt Xia said that this place was not special and that she would take me to Ruyizhou instead. Isn't that a more special place? I almost missed a fun place."

Hongli Lang explained with a smile, "I told her not to bring you here on her own. I had to bring you here myself because I wanted to see you happy."

Upon learning the truth, Su Yushan's heart softened. She longed to lean against him and hug him, but considering that they were in a bustling city with many passersby, she restrained herself and suppressed the thought. She gently whispered to him, her fingers clenched:

"Thank you for everything you've done for me, I really appreciate it."

Clearing his throat, Hongli said seriously, "As the saying goes, one should not expect anything in return for a favor, but if you insist on repaying it, I can reluctantly accept it." He tilted his head slightly and lowered his voice to say to her:

"We'll see how you behave tonight."

After saying this, he laughed heartily and strode forward.

Su Yushan's gratitude was instantly suppressed. She thought to herself, "Can't he be serious for once? Always coming up with these bad ideas, does he even allow people to be moved?"

After walking a few steps and not seeing her follow, Hongli stopped, turned around, and waited for her. "Come on! I'll take you to the market."

"That's enough! We'll talk about it tonight!" Su Yushan stopped worrying and happily followed in his footsteps.

When Hongli came out this morning, he had specially changed into an ordinary robe without dragon patterns or the symbols of rivers and seas. Su Yushan couldn't help but wonder, "Do these people recognize you? Do they know you are the emperor?"

Hongli nodded. "I understand."

"Ah?" Su Yushan couldn't help but shiver, looking at the passersby, she felt inexplicably nervous.

"Aren't you afraid that some of them might have ulterior motives? These people have unknown origins. What if one of them harbors ill intentions and tries to harm you?"

She was terrified by those assassins from back then, so much so that she felt anxious even now when walking in crowds with Hongli, fearing that something unexpected might happen again.

Pointing to the crowd around them, Hongli told her to look closely, "Actually, they are not real commoners, but eunuchs, palace maids, and Sulas in disguise. There are also guards hidden among them, so it's safe enough. You can rest assured."

So they were all palace maids! Su Yushan breathed a sigh of relief and followed Hongli onward.

Logically, everything here belongs to Hongli, but in order to give Yushan a more realistic experience, he stipulated that all shops must pay money to buy things.

Su Yushan was unaware beforehand and did not bring any money. Hongli, however, was prepared and ordered Li Yu to hand the money bag and banknotes to Yunfang.

She usually had everything she needed and often overlooked her money. But now that she was going to the market, Su Yushan realized that her money had a purpose.

Women love clothes and jewelry the most, so Hongli accompanied her to the shop to look at fabrics.

She initially thought the market wasn't run by real merchants and that the items inside were just decorations. However, she was surprised to find that the fabrics inside were all of the highest quality, with novel patterns and bright colors. Su Yushan liked them very much and was so overwhelmed by the choices that she even asked Hongli to help her select some.

Hongli was unwilling to make a choice, saying, "If you like them, just buy them all. Why bother agonizing over it?"

He was the emperor and didn't lack money, but the pleasure of shopping lay in the selection, Su Yushan chuckled.

“How can you buy things like that? Good things should be compared. If I were to buy every single piece of cloth, I might as well open a cloth shop.”

Hongli didn't understand. She clearly liked them all, so why did she have to give them up with such pain?

However, this time he's here to accompany her, so she can do whatever she wants without interfering. He just wants her to fully enjoy the pleasure of shopping.

When asked, he immediately said he planned to buy the entire fabric shop. Su Yushan simply stopped asking for his opinion and discussed it with Yunfang and Changyue, letting them choose what they liked as well.

Seeing Li Yu standing quietly to one side, Su Yushan reminded her, "Li Yu, do you have anything you like? Take this opportunity to choose a piece of fabric yourself."

Li Yu glanced at the Emperor, not daring to be presumptuous, and said with a dry laugh, "This servant will not choose; Your Majesty may choose."

Before he could finish speaking, the Emperor rolled his eyes at him, saying, "The Imperial Concubine has given you the choice, so go ahead and choose. Don't spoil the Imperial Concubine's enjoyment."

Once the Emperor gave the order, he dared not be polite anymore and obediently went to make his selection.

But he didn't choose for himself; instead, he chose two bolts of fabric for Yunfang and the child.

Seeing this, Su Yushan jokingly said to Yunfang, "He's reluctant to part with himself, but he's very willing to part with you and the child!"

Yunfang was delighted and walked closer to Li Yu, reminding her, "I've chosen one for myself, so why don't you choose one for yourself too!"

The palace maids' clothes were not subject to many restrictions; they could simply be plain. However, the eunuchs' clothes were subject to strict regulations and were mostly distributed by the higher authorities. Li Yu only needed to wear the clothes issued by the Imperial Household Department and rarely had the opportunity to wear casual clothes. Therefore, he was unwilling to spend the money and insisted on choosing clothes for his wife and children.

Su Yushan secretly sighed that Yunfang hadn't chosen the wrong person; Li Yu really was a good man she could rely on.

After everyone had made their selections, they went together to the next jewelry shop.

Upon entering the shop, Su Yushan was browsing when she vaguely heard some familiar voices inside.

She looked up and saw the young woman's profile; it looked just like her sister!

But shouldn't my sister be here? Surprised, Su Yushan tentatively called out.

"Jade Cicada?"

The person turned around at the sound, and Su Yushan was so shocked when she saw the other person's face that her eyes widened. She thought she was seeing things.

"It really is you, Yu Chan!"

Yu Chan turned around, smiling as she stepped forward to greet her, "Sister, it's me!"

The two sisters, who hadn't seen each other for many years, immediately held hands upon meeting. Su Yushan kept looking her over, both delighted and curious. She turned to Hongli and asked,
