Chapter 413 Intersecting Time and Space

A dazzling light pierced her eyes, causing her to instinctively close them. In that instant, she felt dizzy and disoriented. When she regained consciousness, she vaguely heard a rumbling sound and the sound of a horn blaring. It felt like... like a car!

Su Yushan's heart was pounding, and she desperately rolled her eyes, forcing herself to open them quickly.

She finally managed to open her eyes, and what greeted her eyes was an asphalt road and passing cars and buses!

In other words, she has returned to the modern era!

Panicked, Su Yushan stood up from the ground by the roadside and kept looking around. There were cars and strangers passing by, but she did not see Hongli.

She called out urgently, "Hongli! Yonghuang! Rongyu! Yongzhang! Where are you?"

Ignoring the surprised looks from passersby, she continued forward, searching and calling out until her voice became hoarse, but received no response.

Everything was fine yesterday; the whole family was gathered together to celebrate her birthday. How could everything have changed overnight?

She suddenly returned from ancient times to the modern era, completely severing ties with Hongli and the others. The people most important in her life were now separated from her by time and space; she could no longer find them, nor could she even explain things to them.

A sense of powerless despair washed over her. Would she never see Hongli or her children again from now on?

Overwhelmed with anxiety, she collapsed to the ground, letting out a painful scream...

Her voice startled Hongli, who sat up and called out to her urgently, "Yushan, Yushan! What's wrong?"

Su Yushan woke up with a start and realized that she was still in the tent, and Hongli was right beside her.

But it turned out that it was just a dream.

The scene in her dream was so real that she almost thought it was real and that she would never see Hongli again.

He was right in front of her now, and complex emotions surged wildly within her. Su Yushan couldn't help but throw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly as if afraid he might disappear at any moment.

The person in his arms was in tears, crying so bitterly. Hongli, not understanding why, asked anxiously.

"What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare? What did you dream about?"

Hot tears streamed down her face, and Su Yushan sobbed uncontrollably.

"I dreamt... I dreamt that I suddenly appeared in a strange place, and you and the children disappeared, leaving me all alone. I searched everywhere but couldn't find you, and I was so scared! Hongli, I really don't want to leave you!"

Over the years, Yu Shan has always treated him very well, but she has always remained rational. As she said, her feelings for him are only 80%; she is not wholeheartedly devoted, but rather reserved.

This was the first time he had ever seen someone express their care for him so clearly.

He couldn't bear to see her cry. Whenever she cried, Hongli's heart softened, and he would completely forget their argument before bed, gently coaxing her:

"No one will leave. I won't leave you, and I won't allow you to leave. I won't abandon you. It's just a dream, not real. Don't be afraid."

He thought it was just a normal nightmare, and he didn't know what kind of pain she had experienced in the dream.

For Su Yushan, it was highly likely to happen. The dream was so short, yet she suffered terribly. The excruciating pain in the dream was exceptionally clear, causing her great panic. She feared the dream would come true and frantically asked...

Am I still dreaming right now?

“It’s not a dream. I’m here with you, always have been.” As he spoke, Hongli gently patted her back, soothing her chaotic thoughts.

She nestled in his arms, trembling uncontrollably, feeling both fear and relief, because Hongli was still by her side, and she could truly feel him.

The feeling of having something lost and then found it again was overwhelming. She cherished the time she spent with him immensely. She looked up at him with tearful eyes, which still glistened with tears.

"If...if one day I'm gone, can you promise me that you will take good care of the children and treat them kindly?"

Hongli's heart tightened, not daring to imagine the situation she described. "Don't say such unlucky things. You will definitely be fine and live a long life."

When she said "absent," she meant suddenly disappeared, not that she died. He seemed to have misunderstood her. She dared not explain, and could only let the misunderstanding continue.

"Everyone is born, grows old, gets sick, and dies; there's no escaping it. Promise me first, okay?"

Hongli chuckled, "Your request is strange. These children are our own flesh and blood. I will definitely treat them well without your instructions. How could I possibly mistreat them?"

Su Yushan made this request because Emperor Qianlong was extremely cold towards Yonghuang and Yongzhang in history. She was afraid that if she suddenly disappeared one day, Hongli would take his anger out on the children or distance himself from them.

That's why she thought to remind them in advance, "The children may become naughty and rebellious when they grow up, and they may not live up to your expectations. I hope you can be understanding."

"Why did you suddenly think of giving me these instructions?" Hongli had a bad feeling. "It's like a parting message. You're not planning to leave me again like last time, are you?"

To be honest, she really had no such intention. "You haven't hurt me, and I'm not disappointed in you, so why would I leave?"

"Then why tell me all this? It's giving me the creeps." The more Hongli thought about it, the more uneasy he felt.

"You've been acting strange all day. Aren't you going to say anything to me?"

She was burdened with worries, yet unable to voice them—this feeling was the most agonizing. She had no choice but to make excuses.

"It's nothing, don't overthink it. I'm just being overly sensitive. I was scared by that nightmare. I couldn't find you in the dream, and my heart was aching. I'm so afraid I'll never see you again..."

He probably couldn't imagine a scene where three hundred years of time and space intersected, where there was no possibility of any further interaction, or even a chance to say goodbye.

That feeling of helpless regret clung to her, threatening to devour her. She was still shaken and hadn't quite come to her senses. She clung to him tightly, afraid that if she let go, he would disappear.

Although she didn't say it explicitly, Hongli still wanted to tell her.

"Yushan, we've been together for so many years and know each other very well. No matter what happens to you, you can tell me without hesitation or reservation. Even if what you say doesn't make sense, I can accept it!"

What do you mean by "illogical"? Su Yushan felt inexplicably nervous. What did he mean by saying that so suddenly? Could it be that he guessed something?
