Chapter 44: Finding the Real Culprit

This was actually Su Yushan's thought as well: "Besides her, I can't think of anyone else. Let's wait and see what the doctor says after the examination!"

This matter concerns Su Gege's face, so the doctor dared not be careless. He hurriedly examined her overnight, but could not find out what the medicine was. He could only confirm that it was given recently, and that applying it once would cause a rash, rather than a chronic one.

Unable to find the cause of the illness and unable to prescribe the right medicine, Yu Shan had to continue to suffer. Hongli was furious and severely reprimanded the doctor. Then he ordered Li Yu to invite Imperial Physician He over.

Hongli then went to Tingfeng Pavilion to visit Su Yushan, but was turned away at the door again.

After being repeatedly blocked, Hongli was understandably displeased. He stood outside the door patiently trying to persuade him and making his stance clear.

"Yushan, I'm your man. I should be by your side when something happens. Why are you avoiding me like this? Do you think I'm such a shallow person who only cares about looks? Do you think I'll ignore you if you become ugly?"

"You said we should trust each other, but you won't let me be with you when something happens to you, which proves that you don't trust me! Put yourself in my shoes. If I were unwell and I avoided seeing you, how would you feel? Wouldn't you be worried?"

If Hongli refused to see her, she would definitely feel bad. She understood what he said, but she just didn't want to face it and never had the courage to show him her ugliest side.

Ignoring her response, Hongli's patience gradually wore thin. He no longer wanted to respect her opinion and only wanted to do what he wanted. "If you don't open the door, I'll break it down!"

There was a wooden bolt behind the door, a very thick and sturdy bolt that he shouldn't be able to break open. Su Yushan just thought he was bluffing her and didn't take it seriously.

Unexpectedly, the next moment, she heard a noise from the window. Su Yushan opened a crack and, through the bottom of the screen, was surprised to find that someone had pushed open the window and jumped into the room!
