Chapter 481 Drugging

Hongli immediately took a few steps back, covered his mouth and nose with a handkerchief, and stared at her warily. "What are you hiding on you?"

Cheng Guiren looked completely bewildered, not understanding what he meant at all. "I didn't hide anything!"

She clutched her forehead in agony, her cheeks burning even more, her entire body feeling as if it were being pricked by needles. The high collar of her cheongsam was very tight, making it hard for her to breathe. She longed to unbutton it, but dared not be so brazen in public. Consort Cheng grew increasingly panicked, tears welling in her eyes.

"Cousin, what's wrong with me? Do I have some serious illness?"

Seeing her condition, Hongli had already guessed what was going on. "You brought aphrodisiacs with you?"

Cheng Guiren's head was throbbing, and his consciousness was somewhat scattered. He didn't understand for a moment, "What medicine? Cousin, I don't understand what you're talking about."

Hongli's eyes were unusually fierce as he reiterated, "It's a drug used to enhance pleasure between men and women!"

Lady Cheng belatedly realized what was happening, and embarrassed, she dared not look at him again. Her voice was barely audible as she said, "How could that be? I have not yet served the emperor, and I am still ignorant. How would I know anything about medicine?"

If it weren't for that kind of medicine, how could she have suddenly become like this?

Hongli became increasingly suspicious. Although he had covered his mouth and nose, he had still caught a whiff of that special scent from being so close to Consort Cheng. At this moment, Hongli's blood began to rush to his head, and his evil thoughts surged uncontrollably.

There was a woman right in front of him, one of his concubines. He could have easily taken the opportunity to bring her into the imperial tent to quell his burning desire.

But he still harbored resentment, and no matter how painful it was, he was unwilling to touch any woman other than Yu Shan.

Consort Cheng didn't know what was wrong with her. She only knew that she suddenly longed for her cousin's hug and closeness, and even wanted to lean on his shoulder. However, he waved his hand and said that she had a problem. He ordered someone to take her away and let the imperial physician examine her carefully!

Cheng Guiren wanted to defend himself, but his body was weak and he had no strength. He could only let others do as they pleased.

Li Yu, being a man of experience, immediately recognized the situation and knew that the Emperor might have fallen victim to the poison! So he offered his suggestion, "Your Majesty, how about I go and invite the Imperial Noble Consort here?"

Once someone is under the influence of that drug, they can't help but feel resentful. Right now, Hongli is having a hard time and doesn't have the energy to investigate the matter. He can only try to find a way to counteract the drug's effects, and Yushan is the only person he wants to see.

Knowing that her master was suffering, Li Yu dared not delay and ran all the way to Jingren Palace to report the matter to the Imperial Noble Consort.

Li Yu only gave a brief overview and didn't have time to go into too much detail. Su Yushan was worried about Hongli's condition, so she didn't ask any questions and didn't have time to change her clothes. She went to the Yangxin Hall with Li Yu in her light blue casual clothes.

When she arrived at the Hall of Mental Cultivation, the imperial physician was taking the emperor's pulse.

Originally, it was just Hongli's guess, but after the imperial physician took his pulse, it was confirmed that the emperor had indeed been poisoned by that drug.

It really was Consort Cheng! She actually dared to drug him! Enraged, Hongli immediately ordered the imperial physicians to thoroughly investigate Consort Cheng and find evidence that she had drugged him.

The imperial physician bowed and accepted the order, then turned to the Imperial Noble Consort, "Your Majesty, this medicine is unusual. I am afraid I cannot find a cure, so I can only trouble Your Majesty to detoxify His Majesty."

After the imperial physician finished speaking, he took his leave. Su Yushan had heard of this medicine before, and it seemed that there was indeed no other way to cure it. Worried, Yushan walked to Hongli's side, raised her hand to touch his cheek, and found it burning hot, like a piece of fire.

Hongli took her hand in his, feeling how cold it was; it could help cool the fire in his heart. "Yushan, help me..."

She was his woman, so of course she had to help him. So Yu Shan lay down beside him. Before she could even lie flat, Hong Li pulled her into his arms.

With his eyes closed, he took a deep sniff of her neck. The faint jasmine scent on her body was the gentlest fragrance, always able to soothe the restlessness in his heart.

At the time when he should have been reviewing memorials, he had no interest in politics and only wanted to immerse himself in the fragrance of his daughter, as if only by embedding her into his very bones could he find salvation.

"Yu Shan, Yu Shan..." he murmured her name in a hoarse voice, his lips moving slowly across her fragrant neck, where flames instantly ignited, leaving no one unharmed!

The voice was incredibly alluring. Su Yushan had originally come to save him, but once she was in his arms, she was unconsciously bewitched by him, as if she were possessed. She couldn't help but raise her hand and respond to him passionately.

At this moment, she could no longer tell who was saving whom, because his impact was too powerful, and she was too exhausted to think.

Hongli was usually quite unrestrained in the tent, and she had to strictly limit himself to once a night and not to do anything inappropriate. However, today he was under the influence of a drug that one time wouldn't be enough to counteract the effects, and she was worried that the poison hadn't been completely eliminated, so she could only let him do as he pleased.

After three attempts, Hongli finally fell into a deep sleep. Su Yushan was also exhausted, so she lay down with him for a while.

An hour later, Hongli slowly woke up and looked at Yushan lying in his arms.

He was momentarily stunned. With a headache, he pinched the bridge of his nose and carefully recalled the events before he finally understood what had happened.

He wanted to get up, but seeing that Yu Shan was still fast asleep, he didn't want to wake her, so he carefully propped himself up and sat up.

Yu Shan is a light sleeper; the moment he moved, she woke up, groggily opening her eyes. Her first question was, "How are you feeling? Are you feeling better?"

Hongli nodded. "There's nothing seriously wrong for now."

He raised his long, slender fingers and gently smoothed her disheveled hair, which he had messed up because of his bullying, and said apologetically, "You've suffered, I've made you go through all this trouble."

The apology was insincere, Su Yushan scoffed, "As if I'm never tired at night."

That made sense, and Hongli had no way to refute it. He shook his head and chuckled, "To express my apology, I've decided to let you rest for the night. I promise I won't bully you tonight."

"Only one night? That won't do!" Su Yushan seized the opportunity to set conditions, saying that she must stay for three nights.

Li Yu had been standing guard outside, not daring to disturb his master, so he remained silent until he heard voices inside. Presumably, his master had woken up, he then spoke to report.

"Your Majesty, the imperial physicians have already reported back and have found the cause."

Upon hearing this, Hongli's smile vanished. He told Yushan to sleep a little longer, while he got up to change his clothes, preparing to interrogate Consort Cheng.
