Although Hongli was angry, he was helpless. He wanted to see Yushan, so he could only endure it and stay with them.
Fu Qing asked her to get in the car, saying he would take her to the police station. Yu Shan felt embarrassed, saying, "Actually, I can go by myself. It's too much trouble for you to come and pick me up."
Today, Fu Qing was wearing a police uniform and a police hat, making him look exceptionally dashing. "I was on patrol outside when I received a call from the station saying that the petty thief had been caught. I happened to be nearby, so I thought I'd pick you up to take your statement."
He insisted on taking her along, so Yu Shan didn't refuse anymore and got into the police car with him. They chatted for a bit on the way, and Yu Shan learned that Fu Qing had just graduated from police academy and was here at the station for training.
Hongli's consciousness followed them the whole time. He was used to such a fast-moving vehicle. The only thing that bothered him was that Fu Qing and Yu Shan seemed to be having a very pleasant conversation.
In the past, he had the right to be jealous, as her husband, and forbade her from getting close to Fu Qing. But Yu Shan in this world was a free woman. She was only in her twenties, in the prime of her life. Moreover, he discovered that people in this world seemed to get married very late, and men and women could marry freely without being restricted by their status or family background.
I remember Yu Shan had told him about this situation before, saying that some places practiced monogamy. At the time, Hongli found it unbelievable, but he never expected that what she said was actually true!
He marveled at the vastness and wonder of the world, but at the same time, he was secretly worried that Fu Qing would fall for Yu Shan, and even more worried that Yu Shan would be moved by him.
He hurt her so deeply back then, she must hate him so much. She'd think he didn't exist in this world at all. Would she forget him and throw herself into Fu Qing's arms to start a new life?
Just imagining that situation made Hongli extremely uneasy. He suddenly had a bizarre idea: to go to that world to be with Yushan. However, the ring could only allow him to see Yushan's situation; he could never enter that world, which greatly frustrated Hongli.
Hongli never told anyone about his dream of accompanying Yushan, but having many dreams is not a good thing, as it inevitably affects a person's energy and spirit. As a result, the observant Empress Dowager noticed that the emperor's complexion had been very poor recently.
Even stranger, he always wore that strange ring on his hand, never taking it off.
It is said that Su was wearing that ring on the day she passed away. The Empress Dowager always felt that there was something wrong with the ring, so she found a Taoist priest and asked him to observe the ring secretly when Hongli came to pay his respects to her.
After the emperor left, the Taoist priest mysteriously said that the ring had demonic energy and that a demon lived inside, which would absorb the emperor's dragon energy and bring him harm.
The Empress Dowager believed it to be true and secretly pondered how to remove the ring from the Emperor's body.
Unbeknownst to him, Hongli had been silently accompanying Yushan for three months. Every day, he would visit her in this unique way, watching her work, read, cook, plant flowers, and enjoy life in that world.
She didn't have many friends, only three or four, but they got along very well. In that world, Yu Shan seemed to be living a happy life. Occasionally, when it was quiet at night, she would pick up her paintbrush and paint, still drawing miniature portraits.
At first, she painted children, one for each child. Hongli couldn't help but wonder if Yushan would paint him.
He hurt her so deeply, she probably wouldn't want to paint for him, right?
However, to his surprise, Yu Shan actually drew his portrait. But after she finished drawing it, she looked at the portrait that she had been working on for so long, and finally tore it up. Then she buried her face in her knees and cried bitterly.
Seeing this scene, Hongli felt bitter and guilty. Perhaps she would think of him occasionally, but all she could think of were those painful memories, which made her hate him even more, which is why she tore up his portrait.
Hongli longed to tell her his true feelings, but unfortunately, he existed in the void and could not communicate with her at all. When she was happy, he could not share with her, and when she was sad, he could not comfort her.
Fu Qing, being in a good position, had already become friends with her, and the two chatted about everything under the sun, getting along very well.
Hongli's hostility towards Fu Qing gradually decreased because he discovered that Fu Qing seemed to have no ill intentions and treated her only as a friend, taking good care of her.
With him helping to take care of Yu Shan, Hongli felt more at ease. However, as it turned out, he was still too naive!
That evening, Hongli visited Yushan as usual and found that Fu Qing and Yushan had finished dinner together and were strolling in the park.
Fu Qing seemed rather quiet tonight, unlike his usual talkative self. Seeing that he hadn't said a word, Yu Shan asked him if something was bothering him, whether it was family or work-related.
After hesitating for a while, Fu Qing finally mustered up his courage, stopped, faced her, and solemnly said, "Yu Shan, I think... I've fallen for you! Can... I be your boyfriend?"
Having followed Yu Shan for so long, Hongli already knew the meaning behind the word "boyfriend".
Upon hearing this, Hongli was furious. He scoffed inwardly, "You, Fu Qing, I really misjudged you. I thought you only considered Yu Shan as a friend, but I never expected you to want her to be your girlfriend!"
Hongli looked anxiously at Yu Shan, wondering how she would answer. He saw her smile fade and her expression grow serious, as if she were thinking about something.
Upon seeing this, Fu Qing suddenly had a bad feeling, "You... have a boyfriend?"
Yu Shan didn't know how to explain, her expression extremely bitter. "We used to, but we broke up later."
Fu Qing had already guessed, but he didn't mind. "Everyone has their own past, but I think we should all look forward and find our own happiness. Yu Shan, I may not know about your past, but I hope to be a part of your future. Could you give me a chance?"
