After saying that, Hongli entered the room first. The moment he closed the door, a slight smile appeared on his lips. No one knew how nervous and excited he was at that moment!
He had waited so long, and finally this day had come. He could finally speak to Yu Shan, and she could truly hear his voice. He no longer had to talk to himself.
Remembering there was a peephole on the door, he looked through it and found Yu Shan still standing there in a daze, probably finding it hard to accept his sudden appearance.
She stood there stunned for a while before turning around to open her own door.
After returning home, Yu Shan hung her bag in the entryway, collapsed onto the sofa, and continued to stare blankly.
Are there really that many people in this world who look alike?
First Fu Qing, then Hongli. Neither of them remembers her, which means they are actually modern people? Or perhaps they were reincarnated and have no memories of their past lives?
If time travel truly exists, then reincarnation doesn't seem so unusual.
But why did she run into them again? Is there really such a coincidence in the world?
Yu Shan felt a vague sense of unease, but then she thought she might be overthinking things. Judging from the current situation, the neighbor across the street didn't recognize her, and the two had no grudges against each other; they were just neighbors. What was she afraid of?
Thinking this way, Yu Shan stopped panicking and got up to go to the kitchen to make dinner.
After 40 minutes of busy work, just as she finished cooking, the doorbell rang. Yu Shan wiped her hands and went to open the door, only to find her neighbor standing right there at her door.
Yu Shan asked him suspiciously, "Is something wrong?"
Hongli took the opportunity to look around her room and immediately noticed the food on her dining table. After hesitating for a moment, he asked, "Is your meal ready? Would it be convenient for me to have a simple meal at your place?"
"This neighbor is so rude!" Yu Shan smiled slightly and politely declined, "It's inconvenient. Why don't you cook it yourself?"
Hongli bluntly replied, "I can't cook."
"Then you can order takeout."
"..." Hongli paused for a moment, but fortunately he reacted quickly, "My phone was stolen, and I haven't bought a new one yet."
To show his sincerity, he took out a red bill and handed it to her, saying it was for the meal.
Yu Shan thought for a few seconds, said "Wait a moment," and then closed the door.
Hongli, standing outside the door, was puzzled and waited for two minutes before the door opened again.
Yu Shan handed him a lunchbox filled with food. Hongli took it in a daze, "Why did you serve it out? Can't we eat it at the table?"
Yu Shan shook her head. "No! It's not convenient for a man and a woman to be alone together." As she spoke, she also took the red bill from his hand as payment.
Looking at the door that had been closed again and the lunchbox in his hand, Hongli felt very melancholy. Why was it so difficult to have dinner with her?
However, the fact that she was willing to serve him rice was a good start.
Back in his room, Hongli opened the lunchbox and, after a long time, tasted Yu Shan's cooking again. That familiar taste was the taste of home. His nose tingled with emotion, and he felt extremely fortunate that God had been so kind to him, giving him the chance to see Yu Shan again after he had made such a big mistake.
He cherished this opportunity. Even though they were just neighbors now, even though there were two walls between them, he still felt warm because he knew she was right beside him.
Meanwhile, after finishing her meal and washing the dishes, Yu Shan was hesitating whether to stay home and relax or go out for a stroll.
Just as she hesitated, the doorbell rang again. It was her neighbor delivering a lunchbox. Yu Shan accepted the clean lunchbox and was about to close the door when he shamelessly made his request once more.
"I just passed by a supermarket and wanted to buy something, but they don't accept cash."
Why is he telling her all this? Yu Shan was puzzled. "So?"
"So I'd like to ask you to come with me to the supermarket. I'll give you cash, and you can pay for it with your phone."
"???" Yu Shan couldn't help but complain, "Couldn't you just buy a phone?"
He had anticipated this problem long ago, and Hongli had already prepared his explanation: "I've also lost my ID card, so I need to get a new one before I can buy a new SIM card for my phone."
What he said seemed to make a lot of sense, and Yu Shan couldn't refute it. In addition, she also wanted to go downstairs for a walk and digest her food, so she agreed to go with him.
So the two of them went downstairs together and went to the supermarket.
In the past, Hongli could only watch her shop at the supermarket alone. Now he could finally accompany her. Looking at the dazzling array of goods on the shelves, Hongli felt that this world was even more comfortable than the Qing Dynasty. The lives of ordinary people were so convenient. He suddenly felt that being an ordinary citizen was quite good, much easier than being an emperor.
He wandered around aimlessly, not picking anything out, seemingly lost in thought. Yu Shan couldn't help but ask, "What are you planning to buy?"
Hongli shook his head. "I'm not sure. I just moved here, and it seems like there's a lot of stuff I need to buy. Why don't you help me choose?"
This guy is really not picky! In the spirit of helping to the end, Yu Shan helped him pick out some daily necessities, such as towels, toothbrushes, and shampoo. When they got to the slipper section, she picked out a pair of white slippers for him and put them in the cart. Hong Li glanced at them and then picked out another pair and put them in as well.
Seeing this, Yu Shan couldn't help but remind her, "Is this for your girlfriend? But the one you picked is way too big. What girl has size 43 feet? Girls should choose the one next to it, which is small and cute."
Realizing he had picked the wrong size, Hongli put the slippers back. "What size do you wear?"
"Me?" Yu Shan thought she had misheard. "What business is it of my size shoes? Didn't you pick them out for your girlfriend?"
"I picked this out for you, just in case you come over for a visit?" He looked into her eyes, a half-smile on his face. For a moment, Yu Shan had the illusion that the person in front of her was Hongli.
