Chapter 99 Welcoming Su Yushan Out of the Mansion

Even when Su Jiafeng helped her carry the bowls and plates, she didn't stop and kept walking forward, and she walked very fast. Su Jiafeng had no choice but to quicken her pace to catch up. "I won't take up too much of your time. I just wanted to apologize to you."

With a stern face, He Yun Ning said coldly, "I don't understand what you're talking about. What have you done to wrong me?"

Clearing her throat, Su Jiafeng seized the opportunity and said without hesitation, "I misunderstood you about what happened last time. It turns out it wasn't you who told on me; it was my brother who did. I misunderstood you; it was my fault."

So that's why. Glancing at him lightly, He Yun Ning snorted coldly, "Why are you bringing up things from last month now?"

Su Jiafeng felt wronged. "I've been wanting to tell you this for a while, but every time I tried to reach you, you said you were busy. I was wrong. I shouldn't have made assumptions about you. Please don't be angry with me anymore, okay?"

With a cold snort, He Yun Ning's almond-shaped eyes widened slightly, and she retorted, "Who's angry with you? You think too highly of yourself."

It's easy for him to say, but he always felt that He Yuning was acting strangely lately. "If you're not angry, why are you ignoring me? Every time you see me, you have a sullen face or you take a detour. You weren't like this before. I remember you used to smile a lot."

After a long silence, He Yuning said in a low voice, "The past is the past. Now that you have a fiancée, I naturally have to keep my distance from you to avoid Xin'er getting jealous."

When Xin'er was mentioned, Su Jiafeng paused for a moment, then said softly, "Xin'er... has already left the capital. She doesn't want to marry me, so this marriage is off."

Seeing the bitterness in his eyes, He Yuning could no longer hold back her temper and softened her tone, saying, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up those unpleasant things. I don't know what happened between you two."

“It’s alright,” Su Jiafeng said with a forced smile, not wanting to cause any worry. “It was just a temporary measure anyway. I know she doesn’t like me, and I don’t want to force her to marry me. Since she wants to leave, I wish her happiness.”

She didn't want to meddle in his business, but after thinking about it, she still had to say, "If you're in a bad mood, just stay home and rest. Don't be absent-minded and serve the wrong dishes to the guests, or I'll have to clean up the mess for you."

He was determined not to make such a mistake. "Don't worry, now that I'm here, I'll definitely work hard."

The bowls and plates in her hands were quite heavy, revealing her true feelings. Su Jiafeng didn't say anything more and prepared to go to the kitchen. "Go and rest! I'll take care of the rest."

After saying that, he turned and left.

Watching his departing figure, He Yuning felt conflicted. She was still angry, but seeing him so dejected today, she couldn't bear to make things worse and lash out at him.

Just as she was lost in thought, a soft sigh came from behind her. "I say, Ning'er! Jiafeng is Fourth Master's brother-in-law, you should be more polite to him."

Politeness? Why should I? "His status outside is his business. But here at Baozhenlou, he's just a errand boy. He has to do his job. I won't spoil him just because he has a powerful brother-in-law. I didn't pay him that month for nothing."

"But you should at least be gentler, don't always be so rude to people," Manager He advised kindly. "I think Jia Feng treats you quite well, that's why she came to apologize to you personally!"

She didn't care for the belated apology. Just thinking about how he had wrongly accused her that day without even knowing the facts and how he had yelled at her made He Yun Ning feel a tightness in her chest.

"Oh, Dad, you have no idea what happened, don't meddle."

"You're my daughter, how could I not understand your thoughts?" Stroking his beard, Manager He shook his head and chuckled, a look of complete understanding on his face.

“Ever since he came here, you’ve paid special attention to him. I was worried that he wasn’t good enough for you, but now I know that his sister is the Fourth Prince’s favorite concubine. So, if you marry him, it won’t be a bad deal for you.”

Upon hearing this, He Yun Ning thought she had misheard. She simply couldn't believe that these words would come from her father's mouth.

"Dad, what nonsense are you talking about? Who wants to marry him? How can you be so materialistic! You just think about things because your relatives are powerful."

Manager He didn't take it seriously. "I'm a businessman. If I weren't so opportunistic, would our restaurant have lasted for decades? In short, if you treat Jiafeng better, it might actually work out."

Her father was thinking long-term, but He Yuning was unwilling to compromise herself. "If I like someone, I won't mind if he's a poor boy. If I don't like him, I won't even care if he's royalty. Can't you see? He likes Xin'er. I don't care about a man whose heart belongs to someone else!"

Shaking his head helplessly, Manager He sighed that his daughter's view of the problem was too superficial. "You should know that it is perfectly normal for a man to have feelings for a woman. Feelings are one thing, liking is another, whether to marry her or become a family is yet another. It's not as simple as you think."

Didn't he say that Xin'er is already gone, so there's no possibility for them anymore? In other words, your fate with him has run its course. Although I do value his relationship with the Fourth Prince, your wishes are the most important. Silly girl, if you like someone, you should strive for it. Don't always worry about saving face.

After offering a few words of advice, Manager He didn't ramble on any further, hoping his daughter could figure it out on her own.

He Yuning, however, was unwilling to think about it deeply. She didn't want to think about such a long-term matter at all. She wasn't in a hurry about marriage. She always believed that she would definitely find a like-minded and ideal husband. It was just a matter of time!

Even if there really isn't a suitable person, she's not afraid. She can simply stay and run this restaurant for the rest of her life. She has no intention of deliberately trying to please Su Jiafeng.

With Xin'er's departure, the wheel of fate quietly began to turn.

Upon learning of Xin'er's departure, Su Yushan felt exceptionally relieved. As for Su Jiafeng's thoughts, she couldn't care less; she anticipated that he would gradually let it go after some time.

My younger sister came over in the afternoon and took a while. It's almost late afternoon now. If she sleeps any longer, it will be dark when she wakes up. So Su Yushan decided not to take a nap and went straight to the kitchen to prepare some food for Hongli.

She had only picked two scallions when she heard Li Yu's voice from the doorway, "Greetings to the Princess! Please wash your hands and change your clothes. The Fourth Prince has ordered me to escort the Princess out of the manor!"

Upon hearing this, Su Yushan was overjoyed, her bright eyes brimming with undisguised delight. "Oh? Where is he taking me?"
