In reality, Hongli did not know that this thing was edible. If he had known that tomatoes were so delicious, he should have planted more of them.
When the Fourth Prince arrived, the kitchen quickly added several more dishes and sent them over. However, at lunchtime, Hongli mostly ate the tomato dishes made by Su Yushan; they were appetizing, refreshing, and helped cut through the richness of the food.
When he asked the name of the dish, Su Yushan smiled and said, "It's just called sugar-coated tomatoes, nothing complicated."
The contrast between the white sugar and the red tomato was striking. After pondering for a while, Hongli finally said, "How about calling it 'Plum Blossoms Braving the Snow'?"
"People in ancient times were so troublesome. They even had to give a dish an elegant name," Su Yushan muttered to herself, but smiled slightly. "Whatever makes you happy. It doesn't matter what it's called, as long as it tastes good."
Shaking his head, Hongli said, "This isn't the best-tasting one."
"Oh?" Su Yushan was quite curious. "So what's your favorite food?"
Setting down his chopsticks, Hongli lifted her chin and chuckled, "Of course it's you."
Can't we just have a quiet meal? Why do we have to bring up such intimate things? Caught off guard, Su Yushan immediately blushed and lowered her head in embarrassment.
"It's not even dark yet! You're already overthinking things."
It had been several days since he had tasted her. Now that she was right in front of him, so beautiful and tempting, how could he not have any thoughts?
"No messing around during the day, and no wild thoughts either?"
Fine! If he wants to think about it, then so be it. She didn't care much. "You're just thinking about it."
These words successfully ignited Hongli's fighting spirit. "Do you think I wouldn't dare?"
Worried that he might really do something reckless, Su Yushan reminded him righteously, "Hey---in broad daylight, that's indecent."
"Those rules of etiquette can be set aside for now. As the saying goes, what's there to think about after a good drink?" Hongli hinted repeatedly, but she pretended to be oblivious.
"I'm not well-educated, I don't know anything."
“Isn’t there a ready-made teacher here? I can teach you.” Hongli smiled meaningfully, and so, that afternoon, he personally taught her what the second half of that sentence was…
After they opened up to each other, there was no longer any barrier between them. Not only were they physically close, but their hearts seemed to have grown closer as well.
After experiencing the wonderful pleasure of climbing the clouds, Su Yushan no longer resisted and let him take whatever he wanted.
Overwhelmed with emotion, she couldn't help but moan softly. Hongli immediately covered her lips and chuckled in her ear, "Shutting yourself so loudly, I don't think you're afraid of anyone knowing."
She was afraid, but she had been too carried away and hadn't been able to control herself. His reminder made her realize her inappropriate behavior, and she buried her face in his shoulder, grumbling softly.
"Who told you to be so mean? I told you to slow down, but you just wouldn't listen."
It turns out you can't trust what women say in the tent! "When I slow down, you tell me to speed up."
"I meant for you to finish quickly, not for you to use so much force."
"Your words were ambiguous, how can you blame me?" As he spoke, he bumped into her hard again, provoking Su Yushan's displeasure and reproach.
"You clearly understand, but you pretend not to, and you always bully me."
"I just love teasing you. Who told you to be so delicate and delicious? Once you've tasted it, you can't get enough." His voice was low and seductive, as if it had a magic power, making her heart tremble. She slowly closed her eyes, savoring the wonderful taste that felt like being in paradise, and had no strength left to complain.
When they rested afterwards, Su Yushan lay exhausted in the tent, her red lips slightly pouting, looking like a cute little kitten. Hongli felt a pang of pity and used his finger to brush a stray strand of hair that was sticking to her cheek behind her ear. The feeling was so sweet that she unconsciously shrank her neck and held his hand, not allowing him to make a fuss.
And so he held her hand tightly, and drifted off to sleep, completely satisfied.
That night, Hongli did not go to Lanyue Pavilion again. Gao Xiuwen assumed that he had gone to Jin Minjing's place. When she learned that Hongli had gone to Tingfeng Pavilion, Gao Xiuwen was puzzled.
She thought that Hongli's feelings for Su Yushan were just a passing fancy, and that he would forget about her once the novelty wore off. But she never expected that he would turn back to her after only a few days.
Seeing the current situation, Cui Ning couldn't help but worry, "Can a commoner girl from a humble family in Suzhou really have such great charm? It seems that Princess Gao was right, this Princess Su is indeed not simple!"
Gao Xiuwen couldn't figure out Hongli's thoughts, nor did she bother to. "I won't be able to serve the Fourth Prince for the next year, so he will inevitably go elsewhere. That's understandable. We don't need to resent anyone for this. As long as I can successfully give birth to a son for the Fourth Prince, I won't be afraid of losing favor."
That's true. Cui Ning sighed inwardly at her own foolishness. Her mistress had thought things through much more far ahead. "What the princess says is absolutely right. It's better to have a son by your side than to rely on your looks to please someone."
Seeing that her mistress swayed her shoulders as if she was feeling unwell, Cui Ning quickly went behind her and massaged them for her.
Others gossiped about it. Winning back Hongli's favor was a good thing, but Su Yushan was not happy. In her opinion, there was always a second chance. Who knew when he would get angry and neglect her again? So she had to stay clear-headed at all times, not be discouraged when she lost favor, and not be arrogant when she gained favor. Only by always staying detached could she be at ease.
Usually, it was Xilan who came to see her, but today she planned to go to Xilan herself. She had just finished breakfast and was about to leave when she saw Hongli return.
"Is Fourth Master not busy today?"
"I'm busy, but no matter how busy I am, I must keep my promise to you." He walked quickly as he rushed back, with a little sweat on his forehead. Su Yushan handed him a handkerchief, which Hongli took and wiped his forehead. The faint fragrance of the handkerchief wafted over, and with a gentle sniff, he felt refreshed and relaxed.
Looking at her moonlit casual clothes, Hongli sat down and told her to change into regular clothes, saying he wanted to take her out.
